Mindfulness-based interventions in clinical practice

This bachelor's thesis deals with mindfulness-based programs, which are now used in medicine. The theoretical part focuses on their, description, published clinical outcomes, research, mechanisms of action, advantages, pitfalls and their use in clinical practice. The empirical builds on the theoretical part and proposes a research project in the form of a double-blinded randomized controlled study of the influence of MBSR on variables of mental and physical health, with the application of an active control group. Discussion includes reflections on the direction of future research and presents information on current trends, opportunities and challenges facing these interventions. Mental concentration of florball players

- english Abstract The aim of this bachelor thesis is to highlight the importance of mental concentration of floorball players during training and before a match and to highlight the importance of concentration during sports preparation. In the theoretical part of the thesis, based on the available literature sources, the thesis first discusses the topic of the sport and describes floorball in general - e.g. its history, rules, or important players. It focuses in detail on the mental concentration of players, which is related to concentration, fatigue and depression, for example, and explains what influences all of them, why they are important in sport, and which factors can affect it negatively. The practical part is based on a questionnaire survey among selected respondents. The results of the survey will be used to evaluate the influence of the players' mental concentration on their performance. Testing of Developmental Dyspraxia in Children and Adolescents in Martial Arts - Judo and Taekwondo

The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the level of motor skills in children and adolescents dealing with judo and taekwondo and to determine whether the level of motor skills differs between children with a suspected risk of ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder) compared to children without this risk. Another aim of this study is to evaluate the level of attention and find out whether it correlates with the level of motor skills. A total of 65 probands aged 9-13 years participated in the study. The experimental groups consisted of children competing in judo (n = 35), children practicing taekwondo (n = 19) and children attending taekwondo classes in physical education and hobby groups (n = 11). The Movement Assessment Battery for Children 2 test was chosen to test motor skills. To detect a suspected risk of ADHD was used the Test Go / NoGo and the level of attention was tested by theTest of attention d2. A significant difference in favour of judists was found between the results of motor skills of children and adolescents in comparison with the racing group of taekwondists (p = 0.045) and also in the results of individual components, namely in the balance component (p = 0.051). Neuropsychological aspects of functional movement disorders

The theoretical part of this dissertation presents a current view of functional (psychogenic) movement disorders (FMD) in the current International Classification of Diseases (ICD-10) referred to as dissociative (conversion) motor disorders, which has undergone significant development in the last two decades. It is a heterogeneous group of diseases with a tendency of becoming chronic diseases, which, in addition to motor symptoms, are manifested by a number of comorbid non-motor symptoms (fatigue, pain, anxiety, depression, cognitive difficulties, etc.). Despite the potential reversibility, these disorders still have an unfavorable prognosis and are associated with a low quality of life. Based on our current understanding, abnormalities of attentional processes are among the central phenomena of the development and maintenance of FMD. So far, only a minimum of studies has focused on attentional processes in the context of complex cognitive performance with contradictory findings. The dissertation had two goals. The effect of omega-3 fatty acids on attention in children with ADHD

This review deals with the effect of omega-3 fatty acids on attention in children diagnosed with ADHD. This is a theoretical work, which has a descriptive-analytical character and is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part describes in detail the information related to the topic. The practical part includes a review of selected articles according to the criteria set by us. Subsequently, the results and a final discussion are processed, where the results of research are compared and the most effective food supplements are evaluated in comparison with placebo. We deal with the shortcomings and limitations of the processed articles, where we determine possible recommendations for future research work and compare the obtained results with the current state of research. Strategy to Decrease Rate of Procrastination While Using Methods Improving Awareness and Emotional Self-regulation

This diploma thesis is proposing and evaluating a strategy of human resource management in the field of productivity of intellectual workers and students while using insights from scientific research on procrastination and productivity. The suggested strategy implements especially two methods that were found effective for lowering the rate of procrastination in latest scientific studies – the method of awareness and mindfulness and the method of journaling. This diploma thesis includes design and creation of an educational program consisting of video lessons in the field of time-management, techniques of mindfulness and awareness and the method of journaling. Furthermore, it includes running research with a group of students during an exam period, while all participants record information on using the above mentioned methods for the period of 15 days, while the logged information has combined nature between objective information on performance (data on usage of personal computer, data on the amount of work done and time spent on it) and self-evaluation information (subjective evaluation of daily performance and subjective evaluation of perceived daily happiness). This thesis evaluates the suggested strategy on the research sample of 15 university students and is using the methods of input and output questionnaire, same as analysis of the continuous data logged while journaling from the research participants, to evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed strategy. The goal is to be able to apply this strategy in the business practice in human resource management. Another possible application is also improvement of study productivity of students using self-management techniques.
Analysis of driver’s conduct during solving of situations associated with pedestrians crossing the road

The doctoral thesis analyses driver’s conduct while solving situations associated with crossing of pedestrians across the road in cases of various design of pedestrian crossings and at different conditions. The thesis deepens the knowledge of the human factor impact on the occurrence of a traffic accident involved vehicle and pedestrian and thesis also complements knowledge for the needs of the analysis of traffic accidents, especially in solving the pre collision phase and at assessment of possibilities for collision prevention by involved participants. The thesis deals with driver’s conduct, various models of the conduct as well as the thesis focuses on the visual perception, the process of information processing, the driver’s conduct and the reaction time. In terms of the solution suitable types of experiments were designed and implemented. Based on performed measurements a method of processing and evaluating data on drivers’ conduct was found as well as more significant data set was obtained for a detailed analysis of drivers' conduct in different driving situations. The assessed quantities of drivers' conduct were analysed with respect to the dangerousness of driving situations. For these purposes, the categories of the dangerousness of driving situations were defined (situations completely safe, with increased danger, dangerous and critical), into which the analysed driving situations were subsequently included. To enable the quantification of this classification of situations into the categories of the dangerousness, the coefficient of the dangerousness (so called K) was defined. From the detailed analysis of the obtained data, the limit values of this coefficient were determined, and these were subsequently verified using data from the solution of real traffic accidents. Concurrently the analysis verified the suitability of using this hazard coefficient in the analysis of traffic accidents, especially for a detailed assessment of the possibilities of collision prevention.
Visual Memory as a Determinant of Communicative and Learning Competencies in Pupils with Hearning Impairment

VISUAL MEMORY AS A DETERMINANT OF COMMUNICATIVE AND LEARNING COMPETENCIES IN PUPILS WITH HEARING IMPAIRMENT ABSTRACT: This submitted work concentrates on visual perception, especially on visual memory and related attention in children and pupils with hearing impairment, which from the theoretical point of view represents the most important compensatory sense for this group of people. The main part of the submitted paper consists in presenting the results of a research survey observing the levels of visual perception and attention in children and pupils in the age group 6 to 8 years old, as well as on comparing them with results achieved by a group of hearing children and pupils of the same age range. We chose four subtests focused on the current state of visual memory and attention. These subtests constitute a part of two standardized tests. The following analysis of the gained data was used to validate our hypotheses regarding the influence of the compensatory mechanism applied when processing visual inputs by people with hearing impairment existing on the level of the central nervous system.
