Anotated translation: José Luis Díaz: "CIENCIA Y ARTE: LA INTELIGENCIA DE LAS MUSAS"

This bachelor's thesis consists of two main parts. The first part is constituted by the translation from Spanish to Czech of the selected essays written by the Mexican author José Luis Díaz and published in his book El ábaco, la lira y la rosa: las regiones del conocimiento, specifically in the sixth chapter named CIENCIA Y ARTE: LA INTELIGENCIA DE LAS MUSAS. The second part consists of the translation annotation, which is comprised of the translation analysis of the source text, the characterisation of the applied translation procedures, and the description of the specific problems arisen during the translation process, including the explanation of the chosen solutions. The topic of this bachelor thesis is a Czech translation of a part of the English article The Quiet German by George Packer. Published in The New Yorker magazine, this article describes the life of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel. For our translation, a section of the article has been chosen which focuses on Merkel's life from her birth to her election as the first female German Chancellor in 2005. The bachelor thesis comprises of two main parts - the translation itself and the commentary on the translation. In the commentary, various translation issues are covered such as character of the target text, analysis of the source text, translation method, translation problems and typology of translation shifts. This bachelor thesis consists of two parts. The first one is a Czech translation of a chapter from the book Soccernomics: Why Transfers Fail, Why Spain Rule the World and Other Curious Football Phenomena Explained by Simon Kuper and Stefan Szymanski. The text refers to a mental disorder and issues that are associated with the disorder in everyday life. The second part is a translation analysis, which begins with an outline of intratextual and extratextual factors of the original text. It is followed by an overview of problems we have encountered during the process of translation and their solutions, and finally, the analysis deals with translation shifts a presents the chosen translation method. Linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation

This thesis is focused on the linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation. Its objective is to introduce the reader to the issues of language-focused findings, which are reflected in translators' work and besides, to describe the situation of didactic contribution of translation in second language teaching. The work is divided ino two main parts. In the first one, there is translators' work and his competences being presented on the ground of chosen linguistic theories. These are further extended by a practical part of description and analysis of translation methods. The whole thesis is being closed by the second part which mediates the didactic point of view of the given issue. The basic overview facts of actual situation of the use of translation in modern language classes are summarized in here.
