Short and long term re-distribution of potentially toxic elements fractions in solid environmental samples
Jeřábková, Julie ; Drábek, Ondřej (advisor)
The fractionation of potentially toxic elements (PTE) in environmental and anthropogenic solid samples has a crucial influence on their leaching, mobility and bioavailability, or conversely, their immobilization. Redistribution of PTE in different fractions is affected by various soil properties, such as soil reaction, redox conditions, and soil organic matter composition and its content. Fractionation of PTE in soils and other environmental materials is therefore dynamic, as it is controlled by external conditions. Certain changes of soil conditions caused by, for example, climatic events (floods, soil washing, etc.) and human activities (eg. liming) may lead to significant changes in the distribution of fractions of PTE in soils and anthropogenic materials. The aim of this study is to assess the impact of changes of conditions on the short- and long-term diferences in fractionation of selected PTE (As, Cd, Cr, Cu, Pb, Zn) in soils and other solid samples mainly of anthropogenic origin (e.g., smelter slag) in the environment.

This year the Institute of the Czech Language AS CR (Ustav pro jazyk cesky AV CR) is celebrating the 100th anniversary of foundation of its direct predecessor, the Office of the Dictionary of the Czech Language (Kancelar Slovniku jazyka ceskeho, KSJC) which provided the administrative background for an ambitious lexicographic project launched already in 1905 by the committee for lexicography and dialectology the Czech Academy of Emperor Franz Joseph for sciences, literature and art, to become the Czech Academy for Sciences and Art (CAVU) in 1918. Although much was done between the wars to establish a state-funded language institute, i.e. an institution which would unify the all-encompassing research of language and systematic work with the national language, for financial reasons the Czech Language Institute was established only in 1946. Six years later, the Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences (CSAV) was founded and incorporated, among others, the Institute of the Czech Language. During the years, the structure of the Institute underwent various changes which were not merely a response to linguistic needs but also to the events of the time relating to the strengthening of the totalitarian communist power. Problem of immanency by Deleuze lectrice of Sartre
Soskin, Jonathan ; Novotný, Karel (advisor) ; Gléonec, Anne (referee) ; Dufourcq, Annabelle (referee)
Jonathan Soskin June 2012 Master Erasmus Mundus Europhilosophie The problem of immanence in Deleuze's reading of Sartre Abstract This paper intends to explore, more partly than partially, the relationship between the philosophy of Gilles Deleuze and that of Jean-Paul Sartre. Such a relationship can be named an apprenticeship, since Deleuze published his very first essays right after the war after reading Being and Nothingness, that impregnates these youthful texts, then entitled his 1964 tribute to Sartre "He has been my master", evokes in several important interviews the major role Sartre philosophically played for him, and moreover praises Sartre's non- subjective conception of the transcendental field in his very last text, "Immanence: a life…", where The Transcendence of the Ego is used to back up Deleuze's own conception of immanence, as it is already the case in What is philosophy ? where for the first time Deleuze dedicates with Guattari a whole chapter to the "plane of immanence". Couldn't the problem of immanence in Deleuze therefore be traced back to his reading of Sartre ? Such is the thesis contained in these pages, where it is argued that immanence is not for Deleuze a solution ready-made in Spinoza or the first chapter of Bergson's Matter and Memory before consisting more essentially in a...

Teaching of Atmospheric Sciences within Geography
Trtková, Jana ; Müller, Miloslav (advisor) ; Hátle, Jan (referee)
Teaching of atmospheric sciences within geography Abstract The concepts of meteorology and climatology have become increasingly sought-after by many people. Their popularity probably stems from everyday experience with weather and climate along with discussions about climate change and sustainable development, which all have an impact on our lives. This is also one of the main reasons why they should be included in the curricula of our educational institutions. This paper investigates the representation of climatology and meteorology in school curricula, describing the expected outcomes thereof. A survey was conducted, which implies that 78% of respondents do not include these disciplines in their curricula (SVP) and 48% are dissatisfied with the systems of RVP and SVP. The time scheduled for teaching of meteorological and climatological topics is eight hours on average. During these lessons teachers most often discuss the issues of greenhouse effect, atmosphere and ozone. The curriculum generally lacks a practical approach to the subject matter, which is essential for the skills and future lives of students. The next sections of the paper suggest several information sources that could potentially be used in education. The last part is devoted to dialectical aspects of education. It emphasizes the...

Paleoclimatic reconstruction based on biogenic and abiogenic proxies from Baikal Lake and Aral Sea sedimentary records

1. ABSTRACT Lake sediments represent an important source of valuable information about the past climate in continental environment. They consists of a mixture of autochthonous and allochthonous organic and inorganic components both responding to paleoenvironmental changes in the water bodies and watershed. Both the composition and relative content of individual sedimentary components mirrors the climate changes. The main inorganic components in lake sediments are quartz, carbonates, and clay minerals; organic matter embodies various plants and animal remains. Reconstruction of past climate is possible only when an efficient combination of analytical methods allowing characterization of all these components is used. We have provided such multi proxy and high resolution analysis on two cores from two lakes, Aral Sea and Baikal Lake. These two large Asian water reservoirs have got a large watershed, originated tectonically, and have grabbed scientific attention during the last decades. Aral Sea represents a closed lake system in semi-arid area and therefore Aral Sea sediments mirrors even minor environmental changes. Research performed on Aral Sea sedimentary cores aims to unravel past lake level variations and to determine their leading forces. Ten radiocarbon dates have been used to construct the age model...

The Social Atmosphere of the School Classroom
Rudolfová, Eva ; Linková, Marie (advisor) ; Kalbáčová, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis deals with the social-psychological and pedagogical-psychological matters, that influence distinctively the pupil as well as the teacher. The personalities of the pupil and the teacher represent the most significant factors influencing the social climate of the class. Creating the positive social climate of the class assumes the personality development of both the pupils and the teachers. It is possible to analyse the climate of the class by the diagnostic methods and instruments and make positive changes based on the recognized facts. The thesis mentions some ways of testing the climate of the class and also the practical examples of the appropriate interventions. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
