Patents: Means to Innovation or Strategic Ends?
Štěpánek, Martin ; Schwarz, Jiří (advisor) ; Vlasáková Baruníková, Michaela (referee)
This paper utilizes an extensive dataset of 163,663 US patents granted between 1976 and 2011 to 25 companies within four technological fields (aerospace in- dustry, computer manufacturing, semiconductor industry, and software devel- opment), to observe fluctuations in their value and characteristics. I find that certain indicators have changed immensely during the last 36 years, suggesting that newer patents are much less valuable than their predecessors. Further, using Data Envelopment Analysis, I estimate relative production efficiency of transformation of inputs (research and development expenses and company's workforce) into outputs (patent stock and its technological importance), to provide an empirical evidence for the recent theories of strategical patent ex- ploitation by large companies. I find that the efficiency varies considerably for different industries and also for the companies within an industry. There is an overall trend of increasing efficiency in patent production per unit of input, but there is none in the effectiveness of creating valuable inventions, which seems to depend only on the company itself. Residential market at a time of financial crisis
Žemličková, Helena ; Čermáková, Klára (advisor) ; Jaklín, Jiří (referee)
The topic of this bachelor thesis is the residential market of the Czech Republic and changes of housing construction at a time of financial crisis. Residential market can be affected not only by financial crisis, but also by other factors that are not influenced by economic recession. The work is firstly aimed at the change of value added tax law in 2008 and its possible impact on the number of completed dwellings. Supply and demand could be influenced not only by these changes but by uncertainty about future form of these changes, too. The second part of this work is aimed at possible impact of demographic structure on started housing construction. There are two time series that are correlated -- the number of inhabitants of the Czech Republic between the ages of 25 to 39 and the number of started dwellings. The results show that newly started housing construction is not depended on the number of inhabitants at determined age group in conditions of the Czech Republic. The conclusion of this thesis on terms of chosen assumptions and used statistical data is that the changing number of started dwellings cannot be caused by development in the demographic structure.

Legal tools for the protection of diplomatic representations and missions
Pöslová, Ada ; Beránek, Milan (advisor) ; Balaš, Vladimír (referee)
71 Summary The origins of the diplomatic immunities are to be found already in primitive societies, because each tribe was obliged to negotiate with other communities around him. From the beginning, the envoys enjoyed of personal immunity, without which any communication would not have been possible. This usage have been borrowed and developed by posterior states (especially the Roman Empire and the medieval European states were very active in their international relations) and that is the reason why the rules for the exchange and the treatment of envoys were the earliest to be firmly established as generally acknowledged customary law. At these times, the legal principles of diplomatic immunities, which are essential for the protection of diplomatic missions and their personnel, are to be found in the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations, elaborated by the International law Commission in 1961. This Convention represents a progressive codification of all the principal legal rules governing the field of diplomacy. In some cases Vienna Convention even conceived some legal principles which until that time had not been universally recognized. For example article 22, where the inviolability of embassy premises is guaranteed, contains the provision that no pretext of public emergency or abuse by the embassy...

Šteffl, Michal ; Nováková, Pavlína (referee) ; Hošková, Blanka (advisor)
Title: The Influence of Movement Programme on Subjective Feelings Objective: Analysis of the influence of medically oriented movement programme on subjective feelings of subjects. Method: An empirically quantitative research objective determined the methods. We have exploited the properties of modified Melzack scale for analysing data from the study of subjective feelings of pain alleviation as a result of the movement programme. We have used the method of group interview to obtain insight into the study subjects' opinions regarding their feelings, benefit and effectivity of the conducted movement programme. Results: We have completed our movement programme with three subjects: three senior ladies and one middle-aged woman. The programme was terminated by group interview, from subsequent analysis of acquired data we have come up with a number of ideas for improvement of our model. We consider the results from the study of interventionist movement programmes with a focus on documentation of subjective feelings of the subjects as beneficial not only for the designers of movement programmes but also for wider public. Key Words: movement programme, subjective feelings, user opinions, group interview, Melzack scale 4

These results are in accordance with previous research and also suggest some new characteristics for next verification. Characteristics concerning discordant family relationships (both between parents and between one parent and adolescent) seem to be most important. Majority of respondents feel like their parents are not interested in them at all and are too critical. Almost half of them said that they tried to draw their attention by engaging in risk behavior (including self-harm). There was also high incidence of self-destructive behavior in parents of these adolescents.
