Digital Nomadism: The Instinct of Wandering in Contemporary Society
Volfová, Kristýna ; Halbich, Marek (advisor) ; Heřmanová, Marie (referee)
Recent estimates suggest that there are currently around 4.8 million people who consider themselves to be digital nomads. They are widely depicted in the media, most often as young professionals who successfully combine work, leisure and travel into one holistic lifestyle. Despite this significant presence in today's popular culture, from a research point of view, digital nomadism is almost unexplored phenomenon. Therefore, the aim of this work is the analysis and interpretation of the phenomenon of digital nomadism, not only through my own ethnographic research and reflection, but also in terms of current theoretical concepts in anthropology of tourism and mobility. The research itself focuses mainly on selected aspects often associated with digital nomadism in the mainstream media, and how informants reflect them. I deal with aspects such as the blurred boundaries between work and leisure, mobility slowdown, the origin of co-working spaces, the concept of freedom and, last but not least, the social changes that have led to the global expansion of this phenomenon. Keywords: digital nomadism, anthropology of tourism, mobility, travelling, digital technologies, work
Digital Technologies in Education of Human Biology
Pražák, Daniel ; Vančata, Václav (advisor) ; Hlaváčová, Lucie (referee)
Digital technologies have been present in the educational environment in the Czech Republic and other countries for many years. Not only are they becoming a relatively frequent means of making education more attractive, but they also have a great potential for improving methods of illustration in areas difficult to visualize, such as human biology and anatomy. The presented thesis is divided into the theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part summarizes available specialized literature covering the bases for utilizing digital technologies in the practice of teaching; maps out the process of implementing digital technologies into schools in the Czech Republic; and last but not least, describes key elements and methods of teaching with the help of digital technologies. The practical part introduces the results of a survey which took the form of a mixed methods research among elementary and high school pupils, teachers, and students of Teaching Preparation programs. In the final discussion, the amassed data are compared to some of the relevant past surveys conducted by various subjects. In addition, the practical part also includes model activities for using digital technologies in human biology teaching; a description of their pilotage; and a critical reflection on the process. Palička, Pavel ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Mužík, Vladislav (referee) ; Bureš, Vladimír (referee)
Pavel Palička - Use of Modern Technologies in Physical Education at Schools Abstract Problem: The use of digital technologies in education is one of the possibilities how to support the pupils' motivation. Physical education (PE) offers a variable environment where various types of actual wearable technology (smart phone, tablet etc.) can be used. No integrated overview of possibilities and practical recommendations for the use of available digital technologies (DT) in physical education has been published. There is also lack of research results measuring impact of their use on everyday school practice. Hypothesis: It was hypothesized that pupils who receive innovated experimental education programme using digital technologies will have better relationship to PE and greater intrinsic motivation to exercise. Objective: The purpose of this study was to identify changes in intrinsic motivation and relationship to physical activity in physical education triggered by an experimental DT- involving education programme. Methods: The research was carried out in form of a quasi-experiment conducted in physical education lessons in school years 6-9. The research sample (N=237) consisted of two groups. A group of 119 pupils in experimental lessons was compared with a control group of 118 pupils who went through...

In the same way, applications for mobile devices on Android platform are examined, due to the predominant global market share of this operation system. Google announced that there are currently 1.4 billion active Android devices worldwide last year. This number has been growing at the pace of 1.5 million new activations...
Media and digital technologies in primary school education
Novák, Jakub ; Wolák, Radim (advisor) ; Lucký, Jakub (referee)
The end of the twentieth century is the beginning of significant development in the area of digital technologies. Modern technologies make our everyday life easier, they enable us to work more effectively, and they are a source of fun for all the age groups. Modern technologies have a great impact on us and our environment and thus they deserve our attention. Children, who are in everyday contact with modern technologies since the day they were born, are an especially sensitive group exposed to modern technologies. Thus this thesis aims to investigate whether Czech primary schools are aware of these digital changes in society and whether they react to these. In the theoretical part, an overview of the digital world (media, cyberspace, virtual reality) and the state of equipment at schools is being mapped. The research then focuses on using technologies in everyday life at schools. It concentrates on computer literacy of teachers at public elementary schools in Prague 7, their attitude to digital technologies, and their readiness to adapt to the fast pace of technological innovations.

Králová, Veronika ; Hájek, Roman (advisor) ; Karaščáková, Zuzana (referee)
The Bachelor's thesis deals with the view of local journalists on how digitizing has changed their work. The digitizing means introducing digital technology into mass communication. Those technologies go along with journalists from choosing and processing the topic to distributing the product to the readers and that includes operation of the entire editorial staff. The first part explains a phenomenon of local media and digitizing. The local media are a specific type of media, which are based and broadcast only in a certain territory and deals primarily with issues of this area. The second part is a research, during which I conducted interviews with six editors from six different newspaper offices of local newspaper Deník. The interviews related to how the local journalists look on changes and their potential effects and whether they consider the digitization has changed their work. I was also interested if the local journalists perceive the difference between digitization on their work opposed to the work of colleagues in the national media. The respondents claim the major change is in facilitation and acceleration of their work. On the other side the digitalization (particularly the Internet) has brought new challenges, more work and also complicated the sale of newspapers because many readers...
New forms of reading and their pedagogical and psychological character
Vaňková, Eva ; Krykorková, Hana (advisor) ; Sedláčková, Daniela (referee)
The ground for this bachelor's thesis is a general concept of text within which the author addresses her goal - to introduce new forms of reading. She proceeds from the traditional form based on reading of written and printed texts and to identify the new forms she chooses different criteria including the dominant communication code, and the medium conveying text. On the basis of the dominant code she differentiates visual-graphic reading based on reading pictures and graphic characters, and, in terms of media, reading texts using digital technologies. In connection with the rise of the new forms of reading, the author deals with basic problems concerning reading, understanding and reflecting printed, visual, and digital texts and their processing. Text work leads to the conclusion the author considers a major problem for any learning and text processing. Having compared studies of reading Čteme?: obyvatelé České republiky a jejich vztah ke knize, Čtenáři a internauti, PISA 2000 and PISA 2009, the author concludes that there has not been quantitative, but rather qualitative decline of traditional reading. She sees the main cause in underdeveloped reading skills. These skills and their development thus seem to be the issue to elaborate and examine further in the future master's thesis.
