Adolescents' Perception of TV Show Product Placement

The aim of this thesis is to describe the attitude of Czech adolescent toward product placement (PP), a form of marketing communication in TV series. Having said that, the thesis describes the term "product placement", its definition, history, development as well as its various formats. Apart from that, product placement's efficiency, legislative regulation and its meaning in marketing communication are taken into consideration. Besides, the thesis also defines the interactions between adolescents and commercials, and it refers to adolescents as a specific target group within marketing environment. The empiric model of product placement, based on adolescents' answers, describes the attitude of 507 respondents towards this marketing technique. The examination shows how Czech adolescents perceive TV series' product placement and whether they notice this technique in the chosen media format, and if the commercial message has an impact on the target group. Based on the analysis of all answers, a recommendation of product placement for Czech market will be set. On top of that, this recommendation includes an empiric model of product placement and a SWOT analysis to summarize strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of this communication. Women's issues in Jaroslav Dietl's normalization series: narrative analysis

The goal of this study was to find out how TV series from the normalization era written by Jaroslav Dietl showed women and their issues. I focused on the 70's and 80's TV series, whose stories take place at the time when they were made. First, I set ten model situations based on the professional literature. Then I applied them on selected female characters from the chosen series and determined whether these model situations were used (heroine was not displayed stereotypically) or not (heroine was displayed stereotypically). I applied a similar system on ten films from the normalization era to compare the characters with each other, to compare Dietl's TV series with each other and to compare his work with other works. I found out that Jaroslav Dietl fulfilled the stereotypes about women at that time, but only to some extent. Ratio of female characters beyond stereotypes to stereotype characters was 26:34 (rounded 0.76). He also used very often a character of a submisive woman who is usually displayed in her home with her family. This work is showing that the adventures of animated family from Springfield, which are fullfilling TV programs all around the world since 1989, are not only an entertaining series for kids and adults, but that it also contains an important amount of social, political and religious issues, which, given to its popularity, could have influenced the development of its viewers' thoughts. This thesis is supported by showing the presence of a wide range of connections between the content of different episodes and their social context.
Educational value of popular tv shows in 21th.century

Bachelor's thesis "Educational value of popular TV shows in 21st century" describes three popular TV shows and analyses their educational value. First part focuses on intentional and unintentional educational TV shows in past and present and analyses the differences between documantary and fictional TV series. Second part analyses information, that are beeing presentated in described TV shows, their factional validity and educational value seen both from the view of the audience and the creators of the shows. Third part proposes use of the single TV shows in formal and informal educational process based on both new and existing models.
The Reflection of Changing Social Values in the Egyptian TV Series

The TV series represent a specific phenomenon in Egypt and other Arab countries. Albeit generally regarded as an uninteresting part of popular culture rather than a sort of art, the TV dramas should be seriously taken into consideration by all of social, history, and art scientists. Firstly, because of the extreme popularity among the large majority of the Egyptians, the series are often used by authorities for spreading certain ideological and political messages. The questions of national unity and the rise of militant Islam were chosen as examples to prove this in the thesis. Secondly, the Egyptian TV series reflect the social changes in Egyptian society and promote modernisation. This is shown in the thesis on the cases of marriage and the woman status. The production of TV series in Egypt is enormous and watching them is very widespread. Therefore, the TV dramas represent a powerful means to influence Egyptian society. Publicistic style elements in czech television'documentary series "13th chamber"

The aim of my thesis is to define the publicistic style elements of characteristics within Czech television's documentary series "13th Chamber". The analysis section is based on episodes that were broadcasted within the first five years of the series between 2006- 2011. I found that the program has more features of a television journalism program than a television documentary in which the creators claimed. The project is a typical example of the terminological genre confusion of Czech television. In the theoretical section of my thesis, the concepts of television journalism, television documentary, television format and the differences of cycle and television series are discussed in detail. In context with the theme, I have designed a program structure in which the principle production, choice of topics, individuals parts and authors who participated in the preparation and shooting are involved. The program structure includes a practical component with specific parts in which I discuss the pre-defined publicistic elements. These elements are mandatory especially given structure, the presence of journalists, expert talks, the use of comments and interviews. This thesis deals with the study of popular culture for example, television series like a typical product of this culture and of research of their consumers. It deals with the shift in the understanding of the importance of the concept of popular culture for example, female audience pursuing series called series "for the whole family. With this selected audience watching the series at the time of normalization, and at the same time pursuing current series I am trying to trace the development, as well as the changes in understanding of pop culture. The aim of this thesis is to determine the movement, changes in the understanding of the concept / importance of popular culture occurred during the period of normalization to the present days. At work I deal with social and political context, defining of popular culture, everydayness and watching TV serials. This is a qualitative research on female audience through in-depth interviews.
