3 Title of the thesis: Changes in blood pressure during group remedial exercise in cardiac patiens Objektive: The aim of this thesis was to describe the changes in blood pressure during remedial exercises. Method: There were 11 females participating in the study, all of senior age and suffering cardiovascular conditions. The exercise unit was intentionally selected to suit treated cardiac patients. The blood pressure readings were taken during the one-hour exercise units at Motol Faculty Hospital. Mercury tonometers were used for the measurements and readings. Results: During the exercise, average systolic blood pressure readings ranged between 137,73 mm Hg and 183 mm Hg, (± SD 28,99) ,diastolic blood pressure ranged between 85,91 mm Hg and 100,45 mm Hg, (± SD 18,88), and pulse rate was between 69 and 77. In four of the tested subjects the systolic blood pressure exceeded 200 mm Hg during the exercise. The highest blood pressure readings were taken when lying down, after a dynamic warm-up, and during lying on the back while moving one leg vigorously. Key words: Blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, remedial exercise, measuring blood pressure.

Endocrine function of adipose tissue and its role in development of atherosclerosis.
Bošanská, Lenka ; Haluzík, Martin (advisor) ; Vokurka, Martin (referee) ; Kříž, Jan (referee)
Adipose tissue represents a multi-functional endocrine organ. Obesity may lead to the increased release of proinflammatory factors and adhesion molecules from adipose tissue, thus playing an important role in the development of atherosclerosis. Recent research studies were focused on the mechanisms of the endothelial dysfunction, low-grade inflammation and adipose tissue endocrine function dysregulation, and their mutual relationships. These processes are of a great interest due to their clinical relevance and increasing numbers of patients suffering from cardiovascular diseases or being at high risk of early atherosclerosis progression. Exact mechanisms and interrelationships of these factors are yet to be fully clarified. (...) Results of this project may represent another step on the way to the detailed explanation of the mechanisms and relationships between adipose tissue endocrine function or dysfunction and atherosclerosis development. Better understanding and ability to prevent or treat the negative metabolic effects of adipose tissue-derived molecules would be of great importance for numbers of patients at high risk of cardiovascular diseases.

Prevention of Diabetes Mellitus I. type in childhood
Doudová, Šárka ; Černá, Marie (advisor)
Type 1 diabetes mellitus is among autoimmune disease that primarily affects children and young people. when This disease leads to the destruction of B-cells Pancreatic islets of Langerhans which are responsible for insulin secretion. Its deficiency leads to disturbances metabolism of carbohydrates and other nutrients . The destruction of B- cells occurs gradually and the first clinical symptoms appear only when destruction of a percentage of B- cells of the pancreas . after the outbreak difficulties the patient becomes dependent on exogenous life insulin administration . The incidence of type 1 diabetes mellitus is increasing worldwide and There are significant differences between geographic countries. This suggests that the pathogenesis of the disease have undoubtedly a great influence environmental factors. important role Genetic factors also play a immunological mechanisms. In my work I try to outline the possibilities of prevention as it related prediction type 1 diabetes mellitus . describe primarily genetic , and immunological markers , which can be used to predict genetic risk and to monitor the period before the manifestation of the disease. I mention also the possibilities of primary prevention, which is not currently yet only at the experimental field. Within the secondary Prevention describes...

Electrostimulation of neuro-muscular tissue is one of the elementary treating methods in physiotherapy. One of the areas of its use is rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury. As there doesnt exist enough resources written in czech language, I settled down to the goal of present the overview and options of its use in those patients. As completing this text, I came out of my knowledges drawn through the studies on 2nd Faculty of Medicine Charles University, specialized publications available in czech language and not least from specialized articles, case studies and literature of worldwide authors, because those are majority of informations aviable about this problematics. This work stays from parts about spinal cord with its injuries and elecrtostimulation and its practical use. Big portion of the work deals with usage of electrostimulation to improve the quality of life of spinal patients. Especially in prevention of pressure ulcers, respiratory diseases and osteoporosis. Last chapters are specially devouted to functional electrostimulation of upper and lower limb.

Promotional activites of companies promoting nutrional supplements in the context of legal regulation of advertising in the Czech republic
Černá, Nina ; Winter, Filip (advisor) ; Benda, Josef (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on the legal and ethical side of advertising of nutritional supplements. In the first (theoretical) part, the thesis covers the definition of advertising, theoretical conception of the advertising law, its development, historical context and the present regulation of advertising in the Czech Republic. An important part is the self-regulation of the advertising industry and its authority in the Czech Republic - Rada pro reklamu. The thesis also includes the main acts and important conceptions which are connected with the advertising industry. Another point is the regulation of advertising industry in the European Union and the application of European directives in Czech conditions. The topic of this bachelor thesis is connected with the advertising of nutritional supplements and its difference from the advertising of medicaments. We can often see various adverts of nutritional supplements which are deceptive in some way. Mostly it is very difficult to recognize if the product is a medicament or a nutritional supplement. There is a big difference between them, but the public is influenced by promotion and believes that a supplement can help with treating diseases. It can be very dangerous because it is often easier to buy a "magic box" with some pills and believe in its effects...

Gregová, Daniela ; Kalvach, Pavel (advisor) ; Zvěřina, Eduard (referee) ; Beneš, Vladimír (referee) ; Bauer, Jiří (referee)
With the increasing number of patients suffering from some metabolic diseases leading to the development of atherosclerosis there is an urgent need for early diagnosis of the scale. If we think about disability sclerotic cerebral arteries, the optimal method of investigation is duplex ultrasonography, which is relatively inexpensive and friendly for the patient. To assess not only the structure and extent of atherosclerotic plaque, but also to assess the extent of any narrowing of the arteries and to evaluate the hemodynamic impact of structural changes present. It is an ideal candidate for screening in primary or secondary prevention of stroke, as well as for regular checks dispensarized patients. Knowledge of normal hemodynamic conditions in the cervical carotid stream is necessary in the assessment of various pathological conditions. This paper seeks to offer the most comprehensive view on the issue of carotid stenoses ultrasonografisty eyes. For practical reasons we focus on localized stenosis in the carotid bulb, the number is high above the stenosis in other locations.

Current problems of zoonoses in the Czech Republic and the risks associated with them
SOUMAROVÁ, Michaela
Both wild and domestic animals can be the source of severe infections, such as the viral, bacterial, fungal, and parasitic human infections, that are called zoonoses. Zoonoses are infections being transmitted naturally among the animals and people in a direct or indirect way. Currently there are more than 200 known zoonoses. Within the Czech Republic, the most frequent zoonotic diseases are campylobacteriosis, salmonellosis, listeriosis, Lyme disease, tick-borne meningoencephalitis, tularemia, ornithosis, toxoplasmosis, and leptospirosis. Some zoonoses have already been eradicated from our territory (brucellosis, rabies). Immunosuppressed individuals belong to the main vulnerability group. Due to the changes of climate conditions and travelling to exotic countries, the diseases previously unrecognized in our conditions occur. Actual problem is represented by the increasing resistance of microorganisms to antibiotics. Monitoring is a tool for the assessment of zoonoses and their prevalence and sources, as well as for the determining the level of their risks. In the Czech Republic monitoring is provided by the veterinary administration.
