Copy, imitation, forgery as an artistic principle in the novel Chatterton by Peter Ackroyd
Labanczová, Johana ; Armand, Louis (advisor) ; Roraback, Erik Sherman (referee)
In the first chapter a question was posed: whether the original and the derivative represent a classic binary opposition in Chatterton. The wide usage of repetition in the novel was revealed to highlight the textuality (in the sense of Waugh's 'condition of artifice'1), intertextuality and self-intertextuality of Chatterton - in particular through references to other texts, the novel's self-referentiality, but also the applying of the means of visual representation (as it was shown in the third chapter). By showing its dependence on particular artistic and textual representations, repetition calls attention to the fact that for example also history could be considered a textual construct. Going back to the initial discussion of the opposition between the original and the derivative, it should be mentioned, as John Frow states, that it is exactly the metaphor of textuality what has a power to overcome 'the dichotomisation of the real to the symbolic, or the base to the superstructure, or the social to the cultural,'2 or the original to the derivative. The subversiveness of embracing the metaphor of textuality goes beyond the one of a forger, counterfeiter or plagiarist. Their works, as Ruthven puts it, 'exhibit a carnivalesque irreverence towards the sanctity of various conventions designed to limit what is...

Dramatic texts of Witold Gombrowicz (motives, life, context)
Urbanová, Berenika ; Christov, Petr (advisor) ; Jiřík, Jan (referee)
Polish novelist and dramatist Witold Gombrowicz (1904 - 1969) finished during his life a total of three plays: Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy (1936), The Wedding (1945), The Operette (1966). He is considered as a representant of absurd drama though his first play Yvonne, Princess of Burgundy was written already in 1935 and furthermore he did not declare his attachment to the aesthetics of absurd drama. In addition Gombrowicz was not a theatre lover in a common sense. According to his own words he did not appreciate theatre as a whole. Nevertheless his work is full of references to the principle of theatrality. Despite all the experiments on the fields of topics and language, the three Gombrowicz's plays maintain in principle the classical structure: dramas are locked up in three acts and regarding the formal aspects they are actually the traditional drama pieces, which can be read and played in the same way. "Aristotle's" three unities (the unity of action, the unity of place, the unity of time) are not followed, in this respect the closest link to Gombrowicz's plays leads to the romantic drama, Polish romantic drama in particular (where the time ambuguity is a characteristic feature). Furthermore he also drew inspiration from the works of William Shakespeare. Common features with Shakespeare's plays can be...

The individual and community in the early novels of George Eliot
Horváth, Juraj ; Procházka, Martin (advisor) ; Beran, Zdeněk (referee)
In my work I focus on George Eliot's 3 early novels: Adam Bede, The Mill on the Floss and Silas Marner. I have analyzed the relations between the individual and community using the pair of concepts Gemeinschaft (community) and Gesellschaft (society). I have not used the concepts to label the stages in the evolutionary progress of mankind, but rather as labels of sets of characteristics. The Gemeinschaft set of values includes the traditional values like keeping one's word, respect to elders, deference to class, family ties etc. The Gesellschaft, on the other hand, is in my reading foremostly defined by self-centredness and egoism. The symptom of these qualities in Eliot's view was a day-dreaming lack of interest in reality. The community awakens the self-centred individuals to a sense of extramental reality and sympathizing moral breadth of vision. In spite of the cruel means this process is brought about, it ultimately makes Eliot's characters more sympathizing, wiser and more humane.

Questions about the usage of the preposition "po" in Russian literature
Hlaváčková, Martina ; Liptáková, Zuzana (advisor) ; Nazarenko, Liliya (referee)
"The questions about the meaning of the preposition "no" in Russian literature" The tendered diploma work is focused on issues of the relations sense mediated by the preposition no in fiction and on the options of its translation. It is my intention to compare the occurance frequence of the separate meanings in constructions with no in fiction of 19. and 20. century. The theoretical part deals with the information from the scientific literature related to prepositions and and typical qualities of no itself. Special attention is dedicated to its mening. What concerns the practical part, there is a suggested process for gaining and processing of the material exempted of the texts on the first place. On its base the picked pieces of fiction are analysed. The gained results are evaluated, compared and completed by a comment. According to the analyzed stuff it is clear that the meaning of the preposition no depends on the text character. Also the options of the translation are linked with that.

Sledování sukcese dřevin po požáru s využitím leteckých snímků na lokalitě Havraní skála v NP České Švýcarsko
Krůček, Martin
This work explores the expansion of natural regeneration after the forest fire in the National Park Bohemian Switzerland, which occured in June 2006. Aerial photography were acquired in years 2009 and 2011 and both were used. The resulting accuracy achieved in the natural regeneration classification was 96 % in the year 2009 and 94 % in the year 2011. Natural regeneration covered 14% of the territory in year 2009 and in the year 2011 it was 51%. Furthermore comparison between the coverage of the natural regeneration and amount of individuals on the permanent research areas was made. The resulting correlation coefficient and coefficient of determination were low. The reason is, that the natural regeneration coverge detected using remote sensing is affected by dry crowns, high diversity of natural regeneration and also the absolute positional accuracy of aerial images.

Absurdity in Zahradní slavnost and Veletrh splněných přání
Dobešová, Adéla ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee) ; Janoušek, Pavel (advisor)
Resumé The work presented here tries to analyze and compare two texts of seemingly incongruous authors: "Veletrh splněných přání", by Vladimír Páral and "Zahradní slavnost" by Václav Havel. Both pieces connects together the period and conditions of their creation. The selection is also motivated by the similarity of its topics, crowned finally with the almost identical point. Pervasive sense of the absurd is analysed on three levels in the text: in the plane of language, fonn and motif. ln the plane of language above aH is concerned the comparison of deviated fonn of language that creates the atmosphere of alienation, misunderstanding, grooviness and nonsense; in the fonnal plane is compared the use of fonnal means creating the feeling of the mechanisation of life and the oppressive atmosphere of everydayness achieved in particular through the use of: repetition, variation and shortening; in the third plane, the process of identity loss is examined: the motif of both texts is the loss of identity on the way to self-assertion in the (mechanism of) quaintly inhuman environment and confonnation to the absurd world. This work at the same time attempts to name the links of both authors to the context of the world (international) literature in particular to the absurd drama and experimental prose, whose interface...

Christian educatio in life and work of selected historical personalities
Schicker, David ; Váňová, Růžena (referee) ; Lorenzová, Jitka (advisor)
Christian educatio is the topic of this work which is partly a theoretical, partly a historical, partly a historically comparative study. The Christian educatio is understood here as the purest expression of the essence of education. In the introduction we show the notion of education as it is used in the modern pedagogical theory. In the next chapter we deal with the definition of the Christian educatio. Since we also try to use the historical approach, we present the Plato's concept of education as a precursor of the educatio. Next we continue with the middle age and introduce st. Augustine and st. Francis of Assisi. We show the way these personalities tried to fill up the idea of the Christian educatio in their lives. In the last chapter we occur in the period when the notion of education as the sense of the Christian educatio is being weakened. We choose the personalities that still consider this notion of education as the biggest ideal of human being, and that at the same time try to transfer it into their lives and work. The aim and the purpose of this work is to show one of the inspiring notion of education and to ask the reader to think about the current situation.

Home concerts in the 21th century
Jouza, Vojtěch ; Kubaš, Mario (advisor) ; Riedlbauch, Václav (referee)
This bachelor thesis discusses home classical music concerts in the 21st century as a social phenomenon, that is described in this thesis in a broader sense as a economic process and also discribed from a historical and practical perspective. The theoretical part deals with the history of music production and describes the influence of technical reproducibility of the work and the decline of classical music in the 20th century on home concerts. The practical part is focused on a comprehensive evaluation of the project, which launched the initiative Vážný zájem and comparisons of models organizing home concerts of classical music in the 21st century in Germany, USA and the Czech Republic.

Knowledge of the crop yield with sufficient lead time prior to harvest is crucial for both the farm management and the agro-food sector policy. The aim of this study was to test feasibility of developing crop yield forecasting model in Czech Republic for winter wheat, spring barley and oilseed rape based on 2000-2014 database of vegetation indices Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI) and Enhanced Vegetation Index (EVI2) from Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on Terra satellite in form of 16-days composites. An average yield data were collected for 14 selected districts in the Czech Republic that represent the regions with more intensive agricultural production among varying climate and topographic conditions. The viability of the concept was proven in years with significant yield decline i.e. 2000, 2003, 2006 and 2012, when yields of cereals were significantly affected by occurred drought periods. More stable regression results were achieved in the most productive areas such as Olomouc and Prerov, whilst models in highland regions were influenced by lower acreage of three modelled crops and higher prevalence of fodder crops. In most cases, EVI2 showed higher correlations to the crop yield together with using an average value of all composites during vegetation period.
