Attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disability

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disabilities. The thesis is divided into two parts: a theoretical and a practical. The theoretical part is based on the current literature and deals with a person with a disability, the definition of disability and the personality of these individuals. The theoretical part further defines a pupil with special educational needs, his/her educational possibilities and inclusive education. The last chapter is focused on the subject of attitudes, their changes and attitude of society towards persons with disabilities. The end of this chapter and the whole theoretical part deals with prosocial behavior and morality in adolescence. The practical part is based on quantitative research and its aim is to find out the attitudes of second grade pupils towards their classmates with disabilities.
Analysis of the special educational needs of seniors with visual impairment

The main subject of this thesis is to determine the special educational needs of seniors with visual impairment. It aims at seniors that must adapt not only to the specific changes brought by the old age but also to the loss of eyesight or the decline of the ability to see, which initiates new needs of these people. This thesis analyses such specific needs within the context of the quality of life of the elderly with this disability. The purpose of this thesis is to describe the requirements, to assess whether they are fulfilled sufficiently and whether the activation and care provided to the seniors bring a way of life that is meaningful and satisfying. It also estimates which activities and tools are preferred the most in their everyday life. Through the qualitative research, the methods used to converse with the disabled seniors and their care assistants in the Retirement Home Palata, this thesis brings several categories concerning the special educational needs that influence the quality of life of the elderly. The application of this research might be useful in the special educational support of the seniors with visual impairment, for example, in the process of adaptation of the seniors to the disability and in case of supporting their independence and contentment. Educating children from a Children's Home

Dissertation is focused on the issue of institutional care in the Czech Republic. The main focus of this work are children's homes, education and socialization of children placed in this type of residential care. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the characteristics of subjects of institutional care in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, to compare institutional care with selected countries and describe the child's socialization in the family and at school. A historical overview of institutional care in the Czech Republic is also described, and in conclusion the author deals with a specific description of the social inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in the teaching process at primary school. The empirical part reports on the research and its results obtained by qualitative methodology using case study design. TITLE: Teaching English and Pupils with Special Educational Needs AUTHOR: Janka Kociánová DEPARTMENT: Department of Special Education SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Lenka Felcmanová, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with the teaching of English of pupils with special educational needs, focusing on pupils with specific learning disabilities (SLD). The issue of pupils with SLD and didactics of English language are described in the theoretical part. The aim of the practical part was to find out how pupils with SLD are taught English in primary schools, which forms of education, the most frequently aids (textbooks, materials, etc.) and methods are used. Quantitative as well as qualitative methods were chosen for the research - the questionnaire survey (the questionnaire for teachers), aids and analysis of materials, interviews with teachers and case studies. On the basis of the obtained data, the effectiveness of the various activities is evaluated and a list of the recommended teaching aids, materials and resources is presented. Students with special educational needs and the school in their life

The work is fosuced on the place of school and education in life of students with special educational needs. Selected seventh class in one of excluded area is describe here with point of view of their social-cultural composition and other characteristics of children who attend it. The method is used primarily semicontrolled conversation about what school means for children, what is the meaning of education for them and what is their daily life and vision of the future about. Using interviews with the class teacher are first determined the individual profiles of all children in the classroom. These profiles are gradually replenished by collecting data using open questionnaires, interviews and documentary material. The result is a qualitative picture of school attendance and children's life in such an specific environment.
Integrated education for pupils with special educational needs - casuistic

This bachelor's thesis focuses on integration of pupils with learning disabilities into regular elementary schools. The theoretical part focuses on learning disability - mental retardation, ADHD - attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and education of pupils with learning disabilities. A case study of 13-year-old boy with mental handicap, ADHD and behavioral problems demonstrates the characteristic features of the integration process in the main stream elementary school. It shows the potential as well as limits of inclusive education. Analysis of this case demonstrates the direct dependence of the successful integration on the professional as well as human qualities of teachers.
