The motivation of applicants in nursing home

This MA thesis encompasses the motivation of the applicant to apply for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The theoretical part analyses the needs that seniors have, describes the system of care of the elderly and its problems, as well as the limits, motivation and psychosocial aspects of family care of the elderly, and the effect of a retirement home residence on the personality and quality of life of the elderly. The empirical part is formed as a quantitative research with the use of questionnaires. Respondents were selected out of the applicants for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The aim of the empirical part of the MA thesis is to answer the key question of the entire research: what life situation is responsible for the applicant's motivation for applying for a long-term stay at a retirement home. The empirical part describes the research objectives, research methods and research groups and poses the research questions. The received data are than analyzed, and the results are subjected to a critical scrutiny in a discussion. The results of this thesis serve as a basis for creating new projects to encourage seniors to remain at their home environment, and aimed at preventing the placement of the elderly in institutional facilities
The influence of independency of seniors in home care by movement activities

Title: Influence of Physical Activity over Self-care and Quality of Life of Elderly People Living at Home Objectives: The main objectives of this thesis are measuring the level of the physical activities of elderly people living at home and the analysis of the influence of these activities on their independence in everyday activities and on their quality of life. Methods: For research I choose a questionnaire survey as main metod. To collect data for the research I used physical activity questionnaire which I created specifically for this thesis, Barthel Index the standardized self-care test, SQUALA questionnaire measuring the quality of live. To verify my hypothesis I statistically evaluated the outcomes of the tests and questionnaires. For this purpose I used the descriptive statistics in the computer program Microsoft Office Excell. Results: The main objective was fulfiled. Development of self-sufficiency in patients with hydrocephalus

Thesis entitled Development of self-sufficiency in patients with hydrocephalus is divided into two parts. The first part contains a theoretical treatment of the subject. There is discussed the issue of hydrocephalus and the issue of self-sufficiency in self-care. In hydrocephalus, the author first examines in detail the anatomy of the cerebral ventricles and the creation, composition and circulation of cerebrospinal fluid. The following is a detailed discussion about the nature of the disease itself, its types, causes, symptoms, diagnosis and treatment. Finally, there is analyzed the quality of life of patients with this disease. In the area of self- sufficiency, the author focuses on the very concept of self-sufficiency, starting with a general description of this term and continuously moving towards a description of its different aspects with regard to movement and physical activity the patient, his clothing and hygiene, emptying the urine and stool and nutrition. The second part is conceived as an empirical. There are evaluated, what was found by using a questionnaire survey. The author examines whether the patients were improved after surgery in specific areas of self-sufficiency, and if so, to what extent. Conditions to prolong the life at home for older adults with reduced self-sufficiency

Abstract in English This work analyzes the conditions which mean that seniors must leave their habitat due to decondition their health and limitation self-support. There is a chance they couldn't go back. They change home environment for institute of residence social services. The theoretical part shows possibilities which help eliminate or at least put back permanent leaving normal environment. Practical part describes the qualitative research results. The research was made by the focus group method with seniors living home group. The purpose is the detection how they sense these possibilities and what variety is acceptable for them. In addition the practical part is enriched by the watching results of seniors' home environment who are using personal assistance services. The expected result of this work is appellation of impacts that have an effect on moving from home environment to institute diligence. Comparison of the Quality of Barrier-free Environment in Prague and Amsterdam Public Transport for People with Disability

This thesis discusses the state of barrier-free accessibility of public transport in Prague and Amsterdam. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part contains an introduction, description of environmental barriers, barrier-free accessibility and description of the legislation. The practical part provides specific information about the state of public transport in Prague and Amsterdam, as well as results of the checklists, discussion and conclusion. At the end of the thesis is a list of literature and the attachments.

Kateřina Rybářová Title: The Independence in Persons with Multiple Sclerosis from the Perspective of the Occupational Therapist Abstract: The bachelor thesis is focused on the independence in persons with multiple sclerosis (MS) from the perspective of the occupational therapist. Multiple sclerosis is a chronic autoimmune demyelinating disease. The progress and symptoms of the disease are variable and specific to each patient, who may be impaired in his/her ability to perform activities of daily living (ADL). The aim of the thesis is to map problematic areas in ADL in persons with MS. The thesis consists of a theoretical part and a practical part. The theoretical part describes MS, pathogenesis, forms, symptoms, and treatment options. The theoretical part characterizes independence in ADL, evaluation of independence, independence in persons with MS, care for these persons, and compensation strategies. In the practical part, questionnaires distributed among patients were evaluated. The obtained data were compared on the basis of demographic data of patients. Exercise regimem in active seniors

Title: Excercise regimen in active seniors Aim: This thesis sets out to find out wheher the active elderly people follow guidance of general recommnedations for the excercise regimen designed for them. I'm trying to find out whether the frequency of excercise changes through positive biosocial variables. Secondary goals of the research are monitoring the activity preferences and the level of health condition of the elderly. The last secondary goal of the research is measuring the condition of their muscular apparatus with the help of a hand grip (hand squeezing test), that reflects to a great degree the physical ability of a person. Methods: In this thesis specialist publications were researched, content analysis of a survey was perfomed and a comparison of found results has been carried out. Results: The results for fulfilling the recommended excercise regimen by the active elderly population have been confirmed. The effect of some positive biosocial variables has been confirmed, albeit not all of them. We found out what excercise activities are preferred by our elderly and the test for their muscular strenght was performed to find that the elderly people, visiting fitness centers regularly are stronger than the rest of elderly population.
