The attitude of the Czech Republic scout leaders to Combat Training

1 Abstract Title: The attitude of the Czech Republic scout leaders to Combat Training Scientific question: Recent situation is associated with the decrease of physical contact among the young generation. Due to the spread of modern technologies, children have fewer physical activities, and they are closed in. The world's largest educational organization, "Scouting", has always gone against this trend. It seeks to educate new generations in connection with nature in order to educate individuals who are strong, versatile and fearless. The mean that achieves given goal and that has been frequently used is combat - combat training. Objectives: The main objective is to find out how the scout leaders perceive and how is the combat training applied in scout program nowadays. Methods: The main method was a questionnaire for scout leaders to find out their views on combat, their level of foundation and the reality how combat is performed in their scout group. Data were collected from 186 scout leaders. The most numerous group of respondents are young people aged 18-30 (81.2%), represented by women 63.4% and men 36%. Competences and their development in the new scout educational program

The thesis deals with the development of key competences through Scout training. It focuses on the transformation of educational program in the Junák - Association of Scouts and Guides of the Czech Republic. The thesis is divided into two parts - theoretical and practical. The first part describes the history, the mission and ideals of Scouting. It deals with the development of Scouting in Czechoslovakia (or the Czech Republic) after 1990 and also explains how Junák is perceived by the public. It was found out by studies that were done in 2003. This thesis compares the historical and current educative documents that are used to support the development of children and young people's personalities. The thesis describes the initial impulses that led to the program's modification. Also the system of competences, which is essential for the new program, is developed in the thesis. The practical part contains instructions and suggestions for effective development of skills and deals with the further education for scout leaders. The work is accompanied by attachments that contain examples of previous and modern materials and a table summarizing the development of competences.

Gender aspects of Czech Scouting. Why would girls attend Scouting?

This thesis presents data gained from qualitative research that took place in Prague, Czech Republic in 2009. Based on semi-structured interviews with kids from Scout Groups it analyzes gender aspects of Czech Scouting. In my thesis, I introduce a short history of the Scout Movement in the world, as well as in the Czech Republic with a specific interest in the formation of the Girl Scouting. My assumption is that Czech scouting offers special environment for gender sensitive education without realizing the great potential. I suggest that the absence of coeducation in the scout units is the key element in gender sensitive education with the opportunity for the children to try freely whatever they wish for without being pressurized by the social prejudices about their gender which I try to verify through the experiences of the children. Generational transformation of scouting ideals after 1945 based on the case of 18th centre Kruh

Diplomová práce se zabývá pohledem čtyř skautských generací na ideje skautského hnutí po roce 1945 v Československu. Výzkum je zaměřen na 18. středisko Kruh v Praze. Práce se zaměřuje na proměny skautských idejí, ale i na proměny vedení a skautského programu. Výzkum je veden metodou orální historie, přičemž narátoři jsou vybíráni z řad 18. střediska Kruh. Cílem práce není podrobně zmapovat vývoj a historii vybraného střediska, ale spíše obecně nastínit, jakým způsobem se skauti museli ideově přizpůsobit politické a společenské situaci. Legio angelica movement

LEGIO ANGELICA - HISTORY AND INSPIRATION FOR EDUCATION OF ALTAR BOYS. Main focus of this master thesis is on altar boys education in Legio Angelica. This association was founded in 1929 by a Benedictine priest Method Klement (1889-1979). It existed until 1948 and gave a number of personalities to the Church in Czechoslovakia. First the thesis briefly describes liturgical and scout movement, which had a significant impact on the organization. Furthermore it presents: the history of Legio Angelica with regard to the life stories of its directors, the functioning of the association, the magazine Legio Angelica (which is the main source of the work) and other themes from the associations history. The principal part of the thesis are the third chapter which reflects the educational objectives in Legio Angelica and the fourth chapter that deals with the particular tools of this education. The Influence of Single - Sex Tourist Groups on Creating the Identity of Their Members - Case Study

This MA thesis deals with the influence of single-sex tourist groups on creating the identity of their members. The aim is to discover the effect of membership in such a non-coeducational tourist clubs on children, and also how this leisure activity affects children's identity and what impact it has on their development. The theoretical part discusses socializing, social environment, gender, gender socialization and gender stereotypes. Furthermore, it also deals with the influence of peers and peer groups for socialization of children and the issue of the high quality use of leisure time. For the purpose of this thesis, interviews were carried out with all parties involved in the functioning of these clubs, namely leaders, instructors, parents and of course also the current and former members of these clubs. For comparison of some statements, an interview with a leader of a very similar, but non-coeducational club was carried out. The results showed that non-coeducational clubs are beneficial for children because the children have the opportunity to access activities normally carried out by the members of the opposite sex, and to do so without gender-motivated social prejudices. Scouting in Czech Republic: brand perception research in 2015

The thesis Brand perception research on scouting in Czech Republic in 2015 aims to gather all available information about Czech scout organization Junák - český skaut, about the brand management instruments used by this organization and mostly about the public perception of the brand of this organization for which data from a professionally conducted brand research will be used. The first part defines areas of marketing theory that are relevant for the thesis. The second part is focused on the organization Junák, its ideological foundations, history, organizational structure and membership base. This part also offers a summary of previously conducted researches and their outputs. The third part focuses on a research made for the organization by Ipsos research organization this spring, confronts the acquired data with previous findings and answers chosen research questions. Generalized conclusions can thereafter serve as recommendations for the Junák's future brand management.
