Personal assistance for people with visual disabilities

Diploma thesis titled "Personal assistance for persons with a visual handicap" focuses on visually handicapped persons and specifics of personal assistance provided to visual handicapped persons. Diploma thesis deals with information relating to the eye sight as such, to the eye sight's function and to the most frequent diseases causing a visual handicap. Furthermore, it introduces visually handicapped persons, dissimilarity of their upbringing and education and psychosocial aspects that affects visually handicapped persons' life. My diploma thesis presents ways how visually handicapped persons can compensate their handicap and what opportunities exist in the Czech Republic for them. Moreover, it explains the term of personal assistance, specifics of accompaniment and communication of those persons and it explains how the relationship between a personal assistant and a visually handicapped client should look like. The empiric part of my diploma thesis concerns with a mutual cooperation and building up of mutual trust between personal assistants and visually handicapped clients, thus how the personal assistance provided to visually handicapped persons should work. Job Profile Diagrams of Personal Assistant / Consultant to Person with Mental Disability as the Basis for Training Programs

The aim of this thesis was to compare two positions in one particular organization with the help of an analytical job diagram that has characterized these posts in depth and structure, and to define the requirements and demands on both positions in turn summarizing information useful in the context of training programs or finding suitable staff for these positions . The thesis is focused on a detailed analysis of the activities of a personal assistant and consultant , including claims of mental , physical and other disabilities. The theoretical part deals with the subject of mental disability in general with emphasis on specific education and communication, that are key to promoting independent and complacent people with intellectual disabilities. Furthermore, the theoretical part provides basic information about the above-mentioned organization and the methods they use when dealing with these issues, the output of which is shown in the job diagram. This thesis is based also on work experience in Fose , o.p.s, as a personal assistant.
Contribution of personals assistants for persons with poliohyetitis

The content of this bachelor thesis is determining of actual need of assistance for people with Cerebral Palsy and finding an answer this question: "Which is the acquisition of personal assistant for people with Cerebral Palsy?". The methodic accession contains these particular methods: theoretical study of professional literature, questionnaire research among clients and personal assistants, observation and interview. The result of practical research is detection that the personal assistants are beneficial especially in the sphere of independent living, beneficial for families, like a respite service, and like a friend for people with Cerebral Palsy.
A personal assistance for people with mental disorder in chosen areas

The diploma thesis attends to personal assistance for people with mental disorder. The thesis is divided on theoretic and experimental part. The theoretic section describes people with mental disorder and summarises problems of personal assistance comprehensively. This part also gives an overview of contemporary services and trends in care for people with mental infliction in the Czech Republic. The experimental section consists of two parts. The first part focuses on mapping and basic characteristics of organization offering personal assistance to people with mental disorderb in Královéhradecký region and Prague. The data found out in both regions are comapared to each other. The aim of the second part of the research is to learn information and attitude of users' parents to service provided in chosen regions. Experience course for improvement in communication of youth with mentally handicapped

This bachelor thesis addresses the opportunities for social communication development for mental handicapped youths who use the personal assistance social service. The means used for communication development are practical experience courses. A questionnaire was sued for research purposes which proves that personal assistance is used by clients mainly in a school environment and for escorts. Despite this fact, demand for practical experience courses from assistants is considerable. Almost all of them consider them to be an opportunity for their client to get to know their client better, thereby improving the quality of the social service provided. Other research focused on comparison of individual plans for the users of the personal assistance social service. This research confirmed the importance of the work of personal assistants who have a demonstrable influence on the development of communication and socialisation of people with a mental handicap. Controlled interviews with clients demonstrated that the common intense experiences enjoyed during the practical experience course, converted into life experience, can have a positive influence on the relationship between the assistant and client. Social services and the role of non-governmental organizations in the social security

The thesis offers and systematizes the knowledge of the social services provided by the Law Digest, number 108/2006. This thesis is focused primarily on the most significant conceptual changes. In particular, the provision of new social benefits - care allowance, contract for the provision of social services, registration of providers, social services inspection, defining of required qualified assumptions for the work in social services and, of course, financing the entire region. Main shortcomings of these institutes are solved separately. Of the many services offered the thesis deals with one particular - personal assistance, its treatment in the Czech Republic and Slovak Republic. The thesis brings information concerning the non-profit organizations, primarily because they belong to one of the leading providers of social services.
Individual planning as a tool of quality increasing social service of personal assistance in people with disability and seniors in Praha

This diploma thesis is concerned with individual planning with regard to the social service of personal assistance. The theoretical part contains a description of the origin and history of personal assistance in the world and in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part elaborates in detail on the no. 5 standard of quality of services provided and its four criteria. It also provides an overview of existing approaches toward individual planning of the social service of personal assistance for the target group of people with physical disabilities and seniors, including their positives and negatives, which the system of individual planning brings to providers of the social service of personal assistance and its users. The diploma thesis had two goals. The first was to ascertain the value of individual planning for users of the social service of personal assistance. The second was to assess the benefits that individual planning brings to organizations that provide the social service of personal assistance to people with serious physical disabilities and seniors with regard to improving the efficacy of the work of their employees. The practical part is based on qualitative research, with the main method of data collection being semi-structured interviews. The results showed that users do not see a major change in the way personal assistance is provided after the introduction of the individual planning system when compared to the situation before. Users mainly appreciated the fact that assistants are well-prepared even before the provision of assistance starts. This factor was unequivocally praised as a positive and a reason why individual planning should be introduced. In conclusion, the only negative aspect of individual planning for the employees was considered to be a higher administrative load, which, however, they were able to handle in the end, according their responses. On the other hand, both groups considered the greater level of preparedness of the social workers ? personal assistants during their social work a big benefit.
