Characters of father and mother and their evolution in the Driss Chraïbi's autofictions
Vojnová, Lenka ; Jamek, Václav (advisor) ; Pohorský, Aleš (referee)
The Moroccan Driss Chraïbi belongs to the most important Francophone authors in the contemporary Maghreb literature. A lot of his works are inspired by autobiography literature and this thesis will study this part of his work. We will consider culture aspects of Driss Chraïbi's texts and focus on characters of mother and father. We will see how the traditional family model is affected by the West one, so by the European culture. The images of father develop from a patriarch tyrant to a friendly man understanding the modern world. Mother, traditionally representing the tradition and the family, becomes in certain texts fighter for the woman liberation and for women's rights. However the author does not seem to reject the tradition. The analysis focuses on these questions. At the beginning we will also introduce the author in the North African literature context and determine the part of the autofiction of Driss Chraïbi's works. Key words: Driss Chraïbi, woman, man, mother, father, Moroccan society, European society
Fatherʼs Communication with Children
Mráčková, Milena ; Saicová Římalová, Lucie (advisor) ; Adam, Robert (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with communication between the child and his/her father. The first part defines basic theoretical terms and summarizes the results of previous research trying to explain the principles of child language acquisition and outline the central features of child-directed speech. The theoretical part is based on information from scientific publications that suggest possible causes of differences between the father's and the mother's child- directed speech. The second part of the thesis consists of individual case studies focusing on the analysis of the audio recordings of natural father-child communication. All participating families signed an informed consent. The recordings were transcribed according to the transcription format of the CHAT system, which is a part of the CHILDES acquisition database. The chapters concerning communication strategies and selected pragmatic, lexical, and syntactic features of the father's child-oriented speech were compared to the findings in the scientific literature. Due to a lack of research results in the Czech language environment, mainly Slovak publications were used for the comparison. Keywords communication, father, child, father's child-oriented speech

Theme of sonhood
Raška, Adam ; Peterka, Josef (advisor) ; Mocná, Dagmar (referee)
This Diploma Thesis analyzes crucial works of the Czech and global literary art of the 20th and the 21st century. Jan Balabán's Zeptej se táty (Ask the Daddy), Emil Hakl's Pravidla směšného chování (Etiquette of Ridiculousness), Son of the Regiment by Valentin Katajev, Kerouac's On the Road, Stříbrný vítr (Silver Wind) by Fráňa Šrámek, Letter to His Father by Franz Kafka and The Road by Cormac McCarthy are all analyzed in terms of theme of sonhood. Similarities and differences are both covered. Relation of sonhood, authority and god is crucial, as well as the change of the whole concept of father - son relationship which occurred in the 20th century. The author of the thesis tries to postulate questions concerning sonhood, which in his opinion should the mankind be asking. Yet it is not his ambition to offer resolute and firm answers. The essay is entwined with an autobiographic prose which completes the analytical part in a refreshing way. Both genres contribute to the final outcome, which is a synthesis offering the possibility of grasping theme of sonhood from a brand new perspective, as sonhood is also the main motif of the prosaic part. Main character, the author of the diploma thesis, is dealing with his relationship to his father, and more importantly his father's relationship to his father, i. e....
Development and upbringing of children from dissolved marriages
Zadina, Libor ; Vítečková, Michaela (advisor) ; Charyparová, Michaela (referee)
Divorce has, unfortunately, become quite commonplace in our society. Everyone will surely agree with me that it is one of the greatest tests in human life. It puts enormous demands on the psyche not only of parents, but also of children. Some children cope with the divorce of their parents better, other children worse, but most of them end with long-lasting consequences which can deeply affect their future lives. When two people decide to get divorced, naturally, a large number of decisions have to be made. The most important decisions, which are mostly the most painful ones, involve children. Where will children live, who will be responsible for them, to whom will they be - in accordance with the law and acts - put into custody? With regard to the above-mentioned, I have become much interested in the question whether there is a solution of divorce situations that would minimize the "tormenting" of children as much as possible. In my paper, I summarized the effects of divorce on children's behavior and psyche, as well as the effects on the protagonists themselves - divorcing parents and, last but not least, I dealt with the question of how to minimize the negative impact of divorce (including the issue of after-divorce arrangements) on children as much as possible. My paper also tries to point out that...
'We're such a normal family, only we have that Jamie' System approach to studying families with a handicapped child
Mičínová, Veronika ; Hájek, Martin (advisor) ; Volek, Martin (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the problems of family coexistence in families with a handicapped child. It discusses how the disability of the child manifests itself in the life of the family as a whole and in the lives of every single family member. The first part presents actual findings about families with a child with disability, submits both negative and positive impacts of such coexistence on individual family members, namely on parents, siblings and grandparents. Subsequently it introduces a system approach to studying a family, which understands the family as a complex comprised of interacting units. The research reveals that order and organization in the light of time and division of labor or responsibilities are important factors in the life of such families. On that account it is necessary to define individual family roles properly, which helps ensuring stability and functionality of a family system. Further it comes to conclusion that due to the presence of a handicapped child, changes in the organization of the family system occur; the child turns into a sort of a family center to which others adapt. A child with disability occupies a special status of 'member - non member', because it can be situated neither into basic family subsystems nor into subsystems based on gender. The...
