Practical and theoretical differences between Czech and Slovak stage speech

In this work I deal with difficulties of the Czech language from the perspective of native Slovak. Examining the issues of differences between Czech and Slovak stage speech. Using my own experience whitch I included in this work, I present guide for begginers that are interested in learning czech language in the level of czech native speaker.
Verbal padding in spoken language on the Czech media scene exemplified by reporters of the Czech television and the Czech radio

Speaking is an immensely complex area of human communication. Speakers whose speech is fluent, without hesitation, pauses and any other shortcomings, have been and are still admired most of all speakers. Most people are encouraged by the effects of fillers and performance additions. However, the two means that fill the language to be more coherent are, of course, considered to be significant language flaws. Still, the oral speech is inherent to us. The author of the bachelor thesis used it to prove that the fillers and performance additions are not spoken only by ordinary people, but also by those for who the language is living. Since neither oral speech by professional speakers is completely coherent in any circumstances, even the best speakers are occasionally forced to use paradoxically language flaws for smoother speech. In order to confirm this theory, the author chose a media scene environment where he analyzed the speeches of Czech TV and Czech Radio editors.
Supporting speaking competence of children in primary school

This diploma thesis deals with support of speaking competence of children in primary school. It focuses especially on the 5th and 6th grade students and on an expository writing whereas it explicates the basic developmental characteristics of this age group. In its crucial part, diploma comes with a unique set of activities, which could accompany the exercises in the Czech language textbooks used nowadays. Finally, in the closing chapter, the testing of selected activities with a group of 5th grade students is described including an evaluation and a feedback of students. Czech of Slovak Speakers

The bachelor`s thesis Czech of Slovak Speakers analyzes the spoken language speeches by two Slovak speakers in the Czech language on the basis of language transfer, semicommunication and linguistic typology of errors described in the first part. The second part is in relation to the theoretical definition of the problem devoted to the research. It describes and according to the language levels divides errors as actually found in the speeches and imagined, which are described by speakers themselves. The conclusion find out the ratio between the errors caused by interference and by other influences. We explain possible causes of this situation and we are suggesting a solution there.

Non-finite clauses (infinitive, gerund, present participle) and speech

The aim of the thesis "Non-finite clauses (infinitive, gerund, present participle) and speech" is to describe the occurence and the use of the non-finite clauses in spoken French. The situation of the non-finite clauses in speech is established by means of the analysis of the essay "Usage du gérondif et du participe présent en francais parlé et écrit : étude comparée basée sur corpus" and the inquiry. Another aim is to suggest various expressions that could replace the non-finite clauses. These expressions result from the inquiry that was made with only natives speakers responding. We also try to consider the influence of different aspects such as age, profession, nationality on the usage of the the non-finite clauses. The conclusions that we come to in the thesis should enlighten the situation of the non-finite clauses infinitive, gerund, present participle in spontaneous speech and they could also serve as a tool for French teachers in the form of a review of the present state of the issue in spoken French. A comparison of Jaromir Bosak's television commentary and his book football dairies

In this thesis I examine verbal expression of Jaromír Bosák, one of the most recognized commentators of live football matches employed in Czech television. I focus on two international tournaments - FIFA World Cup France 1998 and European championship UEFA Euro 2012 Poland-Ukraine. Afterwards I analyze Bosák's football diaries, which he creates during such tournaments and they are named Jaromír Bosák's French diary and Jaromír Bosák's football diary from Poland and Ukraine. Based on linguistic definition of distinction between verbal and written expression I get some of the primary premises. They are examined and compared with real situation in Bosák's books and commentary. As a result we may consider how much are said linguistic definitions applicable on whichever expression. After that I take a swift look on Bosák's television commentary in a different way and try to determine the main elements, which he had evolved during the fourteen examined years. In purpose of understanding all coherency in this subject this thesis contains a profile of Jaromír Bosák, list of basic differences between the language of spoken and written text as well as theoretical description of sport commentary as a genre.
Non-standard functions of "like" in spoken discourse

This thesis is concerned with the non-standard functions of the word like in spoken discourse. The aim of this thesis is to categorize the non-standard functions that had been described in the past 30 years and create a comprehensive overview, which might serve as a guideline for further research. The theoretical part of the thesis offers a compilation of standard and non-standard functions that like may represent in spoken discourse. As a non- standard function is considered the use of like as a focus marker, hedge, quotative marker and a discourse marker. The second, methodological, part describes the method of extraction of the sample of 100 instances from the COCA. The following part then contains analysis of the extracted instances, which are categorized according to the theoretical frame created in the theoretical part of this thesis. The analysis also concerns the position of like in the utterance and frequent collocations. Analysis of the work of commentator live sports broadcast

This diploma thesis is focused on the live-broadcast sports events commentary which is a strictly specific journalistic profession and also one of the most challenging news disciplines of them all. It mainly concentrates on the professional commentators ("play-by-play") in the television environment. To define differences between performances of commentators in public and private television stations using linguistic and quantitative context analysis is the main goal of this thesis. The gender issues in the live-broadcast sports events commentary as a field - which are very rare in the Czech academic environment - are also being evaluated here. Transcripts of commentaries of previously chosen ice hockey matches are the main source for practical chapters of this publication. In both theoretical and practical parts of the thesis, author also considers his own interviews conducted with commentators and other professionals from selected field.
