Mapping Institutional Development: An Analysis of Deposit Insurance in Argentina
Lane, Dustin ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Benáček, Vladimír (referee)
72 Abstract This work analyzes the institutional evolution of Argentinian deposit insurance and how this evolution could be explained using the theoretical frameworks proposed by works both Acemoglu and Robinson and the works of Levitsky and Murillo. The study highlights how institutions develop over time within frameworks of political changes. In addition, the work highlights the theoretical gap in new institutional economics in relation to analyzing the development and evolution of institutions through time. In response to this theoretical gap this work proposes the use of new model to conceptualize how institutions interact at multiple levels of the institutional hierarchy and how independent institutional developments can be mapped within the institutional hierarchy as they develop through time. In the end it is the hope that the conceptualized model presented is the first step in developing a more practical and useful model for new institutional economics as it relates to economic development and the construction and implementation of development policies.

No Two Homeless People Are Alike: Homelessness from the Perspective of Institutions
Janatová, Erika ; Vašát, Petr (advisor) ; Blokker, Paulus Albertus (referee)
Homelessness represents a most serious challenge for current cities and their administrations across the globe. Despite this fact, it is surprising that the topic of homelessness from the perspective of institutions has been so understudied so far [e. g. Temelová, Jana et al. 2015]. This paper will focus on the conceptualization of homelessness by institutions. It will try to describe how the institutions, which are dealing with homelessness, conceptualize it and see if the conceptualization occurs in the practice of social service providers. There are three main research questions: (1) how do institutions conceptualize homelessness?, (2) do the conceptualizations change over time and if they do how ? (e. g. under the influence of the "ETHOS" European definition (FEANTSA 2005)), (3) how is the individualizing neoliberal project manifested in this? For answering the questions I will use a qualitative research methodology - semi-structured interviews with representatives of institutions, which will be supplemented by networks mapping and structured literature search of conceptual, methodological and strategic documents, which will first be deductively and then inductively analyzed with using MAXQDA program.

RNDr. Jiří Blažek, PhD. Ústí nad Labem 2010 2 CONTENT Introduction and theoretical framework Hypotheses and structure of the dissertation Conclusion Selected literature 3 Introduction and theoretical framework Current research of regional development sees themes focused on the institutional context of regional development in the foreground [Rutten, Boekema 2007], regional mechanisms are evaluated, key categories and groups of actos for the long-term improvement of the competitiveness of the region are sought [Breschi, Malerba 2007]. The theory is that regional development operates with various actors concepts. Traditional neo-classic approaches stemming from the individualized concept of a actor in the market environment are often completed with institutional approaches that highlight the understanding of the actor as an entity interwoven by many specific market mechanisms and social structures - production chains, subcontractor relationships and further formal and informal boundaries that define market potential. From the institutional economy point of view, the actor...
