Financial literacy survey of pupils at primary schools and multi-year grammar schools

The bachelor thesis deals with the financial literacy of 9th-grade pupils in primary school and the corresponding years in multi-year grammar school. Financial literacy is one of the components of consumer protection in the financial market and has nowadays become a phenomenon. The aim of my work is to find out what impact the implementation of financial education has on the Framework Educational Plan and to find out if the type of educational institution or educational project affects the level of financial literacy of pupils. The thesis should provide a comprehensive overview of the subject together with the definition of the basic concepts related to the financial literacy. The conclusion brings together an assessment of the level of financial literacy of pupils from 26 elementary schools and multi-year grammar schools in a total of 839 pupils.
The Current Level of Financial Education at Secondary Schools in the Czech Republic

The aim of this thesis is to analyze the current level of financial education at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of this thesis is focused on knowledge of financial education, financial literacy and Standard of the Financial Literacy. At the same time, the results of the international PISA 2012 survey are described here. The essence of the empirical part is a research project. The main objective of this research is to determine whether and how deeply secondary schools incorporate Standard of the Financial Literacy into their School Education Programs. On the basis of this survey, the conclusions as well as suggestions and recommendations for pedagogical practice are presented.
Analysis of high school and university students' financial literacy

The thesis' goal is to define basic terms associated with financial literacy - to clarify the important and somewhat inseparable role financial education plays in terms of financial literacy. Furthemore it aims to measure the current level of financial literacy achieved by students of public high schools and public universities. The theoretical section is aimed at different definitions of the term financial literacy, the significance of financial eduction in the Czech Republic and the related national financial education strategy. Its further aim is the current level of financial literacy and the role of subjects raising that level. The practical section consists of research survey via a questionare released at public high schools and public universities and its evaluation and comparison to recent survey by the Department of finance. The survey points to a relatively low level of financial literacy and the need for education in financial matters.
Factors Affecting Financial Literacy of Secondary School Students in the Czech Republic

This master thesis deals with the factors influencing the financial literacy of students in the Czech Republic. The main aim of the thesis was to find out whether specific factors have an impact on the financial literacy of these students. Among the factors surveyed were gender, highest parenting education and total household income. In this master thesis, quantitative research was used through a questionnaire survey aimed at exploring and evaluating the level of financial literacy of secondary school students. The hypothesis that were tested by statistical methods using the two-choice F-test and t-test were determined. Based on the results, the hypotheses were either accepted or rejected.
Financial education at low secondary schools in the Czech Republic

This thesis presents the concept of developing financial literacy education for pupils of low secondary schools and corresponding years of multi-annual grammar schools enshrined in the existing curriculum documents. Thesis seeks answers to the question of whether the teaching of financial literacy within the specified range has the sufficient support in civics textbooks and textbooks specialized on financial literacy, while exploring the opportunities for educating teachers, who, in majority, have not met with this theme during their university studies. In-depth interviews with second grade pupils in the period before the start of systematic financial education, whose analysis fills the sekond part of the thesis, should diagnose the level of understanding and structure of their own ideas on selected economic terms. Comparison of findings about the structure of pupils understanding of content and methods of work available teaching materials should help identify potential bottlenecks or suggest appropriate procedures to financial education program for pupils better adapt. Indebtedness of Czech households and its influence on quality of life

Martina Rolincová Indebtedness of Czech households and its impact on quality of life Thesis Abstract The thesis "Indebtednesst of Czech households and its impact on quality of life," explores the phenomenon of over-indebtedness and thus, what impacts has this problem on life satisfaction of borrowers and their families. The main goal of this work is to describe these effects and instruments how Czech legislation responds to this negative phenomenon. Part of the work is a qualitative research among borrowers, their families and staff of non-bank credit institutions and agencies of discharge. Based on the analysis of this research and legislative background of this issue finds the author next to insufficient financial literacy also gaps in the legislation in protecting relatives against the consequences of wrong decisions of their family members.
Educating about financial literacy at primary schools

This master's thesis focuses on the teaching of financial literacy at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic. The main goal was to characterize and evaluate a selection of internet based programs that specialize in financial literacy in order to gain insight on how the users view the issue at hand and how they interact with these programs. The thesis employs a qualitative research method. The first section is devoted to the theoretical introduction to finance, its definition, characteristics and the components of financial literacy. A special focus was also put on the development of financial literacy in the Czech Republic and the main documents in which it is grounded. The need for implementation of financial literacy into secondary schools' curriculums was based on surveys about the level of financial literacy among students and public. The practical part of this thesis consists of two closely interrelated sections. Firstly, it outlines and examines three different online programs created to help teachers design their financial literacy courses more effectively. Secondly, the thesis presents a methodological research using structured interviews with open questions and concludes by demonstrating the results. Financial education at the secondary school

The main goal of this diploma work is to create a concept of one-year two-hour seminars teaching financial literacy at high school. Its content is in accordance with the standards of financial literacy that were defined in the document " The system of establishment of financial literacy at primary and secondary schools ", and which have been implemented in the RVP of high school and secondary vocational education in 2009. In particular, constructivist approach is being applied in the teaching to whose implementation using appropriately chosen teaching methods that are designated in the methodological recommendations of Pedagogical Research Institute. Following teaching materials are drawn up for each thematic unit seminar (household management, prices and money, financial markets, interest and interest calculation, financial products, financial planning and consumer protection): the recommended sequence of intermediate tutorial, theme, tutorial, tutorial presentations, pupil outputs, input and output test. The other goal of this diploma work is a small research through a questionnaire with closed issues, whose main aim was to map out the teaching of financial literacy at secondary schools in the Czech Republic. Financial Education and its Position in School Education

This Master's thesis deals with financial education and its place in school education. The thesis is separated into four main parts. The first chapter defines the concept of financial literacy, historical evolution of financial education in pedagogical reflection and factors affecting individuals in the process of financial education. The second chapter deals with the place of financial education in school education, which is an analysis of selected education policy documents of the Czech Republic and the activities of the actors involved in the development of financial literacy of the population of the Czech Republic. The theme of the third chapter is defining areas of financial education in school education in the private sector. The fourth chapter discusses the role of the teacher in the process of financial education and presents some recommendations.
Financial literacy as a tool for reducing the debt overburden of the Czech households

In current time we experience deeper and deeper indebtedness of Czech households and their deterioration into insolvency on one side, on the other side among Czech population was identified a very low rate of financial literacy in the last few years. As a result of these two findings a hypothesis was created that behind the high indebtedness stands the low financial literacy of population and that it is possible to fight indebtedness by increasing financial literacy. The thesis main target is to analyze approach of Czech Republic to financial literacy, particularly as to a tool of prevention of indebtedness of households. Simultaneously its target is to reveal relation between financial literacy and indebtedness. According to these reasons the thesis is based on several theoretical outcomes - the theory of prevention of risky behavior, the theory of financial education as a prevention from hazard and from the theory of implementation as a part of public policy cycle. Examined problem is defined using analysis of indebtedness of Czech households, determines the occasions and results of this risky behavior; and through delimitation issue of financial literacy.
