Somatism in Czech and German Phraseology
Máchová, Miroslava ; Janovec, Ladislav (advisor) ; Chejnová, Pavla (referee)
This Master's Thesis deals with the linguistic picture of the particular somatisms in Czech; their emergence is then compared with their equivalents in German. The theoretical part explains the basis of cognitive and cultural linguistics as linguistic picture of the world, categorization, anthropocentrism, metaphor, metonymy and linguistics in the context of cognitive science. The practical part summarizes the particular use of somatisms within the phraseological units of both languages. The analysis is based on the the profile theory and its image schema. This language background is accompanied by the non-linguistic discipline, psychosomatics, whose premises proved to be useful.
Evolution of light detection in chordates
Pergner, Jiří ; Kozmik, Zbyněk (advisor) ; Markoš, Anton (referee) ; Musilová, Zuzana (referee)
Light detection is one of the crucial abilities of all animals. The light cues are important e.g. for maintaining of circadian rhythms, regulation of spawning cycles, changes of pigmentation and arguably most importantly for vision. Most animals detect light by opsins, members of the G protein coupled receptors superfamily. Amphioxus belongs to earliest branching chordate clade, cephalochordates. Thanks to their phylogenetic position, physiology and morphology, cephalochordates became the most relevant model organism for understanding the evolutionary origins of vertebrate specific traits. Amphioxus evince various reactions to light throughout its development. In the presented thesis light detecting systems of amphioxus were studied thoroughly. More specifically characterization of the opsin gene repertoire of two amphioxus species Branchiostoma floridae and Branchiostoma lanceolatum and their comparison with opsins from other animals is presented. In addition, remarkable similarity on the gene expression level between one of amphioxus visual organs, so called frontal eye, and neurons and retinal pigmented epithelium in vertebrate retina was shown. These data confirm the long time ago proposed homology between amphioxus frontal eye and vertebrate lateral eyes. Taken together all the presented data...
Patient quality of life with glaucoma
Hašková, Martina ; Jirkovský, Daniel (advisor) ; Králíčková, Jana (referee)
This thesis deals with the quality of life of patients with glaucoma. Its aim is to introduce professional and general public with difficulties and changes that these patients throughout their lives restricted. The theoretical part briefly defines quality of life describes the basic characteristics of glaucoma. The practical part describes its own investigation, which took place from June to November 2015 in the eye clinic Regional hospital Kladno. A total of 83 patients were enrolled. For data collection method was chosen a questionnaire which included items the standardized questionnaires NEI-VFQ-25 and GQL-15 and items characterizing the respondent. From his own survey shows that in the sample of respondents can be observed significant differences in responses by gender, age, treatment with glaucom disease and the level of the highest educational attainment. The thesis also gives a brief description and results of studies already exist on the same or similar subject.
Biotribology of artificial tears for the treatment of dry eye syndrome
Černohlávek, Mikuláš ; Daniel, Matej (referee) ; Vrbka, Martin (advisor)
This master thesis is a part of the project TAČR TREND, which aim is the development of new ingredient for treatment of dry eye syndrome. Developed ingredient is derivative of hyaluronic acid, which is in this thesis compared with native hyaluronic acids and commercial eye drops. Aim of this thesis is to describe rheological and tribological properties of measured samples in terms of viscosity, mucoadhesivity and coefficient of friction. Coefficient of friction was measured on created tribological model of the eye in pin-on-plate configuration which represents physiologically relevant sliding speeds of blinking. Comparison with native hyaluronic acids and commercial products of eye drops showed, that derivative reaches higher values of viscosity, has mucoahesive properties and has low values of coefficient of friction. Those key parameters show that modification of hyaluronic acid is promising way for drug development for dry eye disease.
Plethysmography for retinal video processing
Plavcová, Daniela ; Valterová, Eva (referee) ; Kolář, Radim (advisor)
Sight is one of the five human senses and is very important for exploring near and far surroundings. However, this is prevented by various eye defects, which may be related to the vascular system of the retina and the pulsations that are observable on it. This work deals with the study of the relationship between the mentioned pulsations and glaucoma. To search for connections between these two aspects, video recordings from the retina are used, the pulsation of which is further worked in the form of a 1D signal, especially in the spectral region.
Detection of Diseases on the Human Eye Retina
Koštialik, Gabriel ; Semerád, Lukáš (referee) ; Drahanský, Martin (advisor)
The most common cause of blindness in humans, between 20 and 64 years, is diabetic retinopathy. This disease is due to unclear reasons, but the cause is clear. Diabetes mellitus. The prognosis of the number of sick people in the future is very bad. For this reason, early diagnosis of diabetic retinopathy is highly needed, as untreated patients may lose sight very quickly. Therefore, the aim of this work is to design and implement an algorithm, that can automatically search for certain symptoms of the disease. The algorithm works on a way of adaptive Gaussian thresholding. A very important part of the algorithm is also pre-processing and subsequent classification of suspicious areas. The detection success was evaluated on 70 images from various databases, where the algorithm achieves very good results. Deploying this algorithm in diagnostics could greatly help to automate the whole process. Ultimately, this would mean earlier treatment for patients where the start time of treatment is critical.
Crane hooks, design and calculation
Vítů, Šimon ; Pokorný, Přemysl (referee) ; Malášek, Jiří (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the division, calculations, construction documentation and production procedures of crane hooks. The work includes a search of hook types, a procedure for calculation of a simple forged hook, and the work also lists manufacturers of crane hooks focusing on the European market. The work includes drawing documentation, drawing simple forged hook and production drawing of single lamella of single lamellar hook.
Eyetracking For Traffic Analysis
Veselá, Cindy
This study deals with the analysis of eye movement during solving traffic situations using eyetracker. The goal of this study is to create two programs and record eye movement of drivers. The first program records eye movement during traffic observation in videos. The second program visualizes eye movement in displayed videos.
Eyetracking for traffic analysis
Veselá, Cindy ; Němcová, Andrea (referee) ; Janoušek, Oto (advisor)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis of eye movement during solving traffic situations using eyetracker. The theoretical part describes eye anatomy and the types eye movement. It also explains methods of how eye movement is tracked with a focus on eye-tracking methods. Practical part contains two programs and record of eye movement of drivers. The first program records eye movement during traffic observation in videos, the second program visualizes eye movement in displayed videos. It was examined parameters of eye movement, which could lead to differentiation of drivers according to their experience.
