Michalčíková, Kristýna ; Reifová, Irena (advisor) ; Hroch, Miloš (referee)
The theoretical part of the thesis delves into the subject of gender in all the necessary dimensions for the elaboration of this work. The term is initially characterized in a broader context and further developed through gender roles and their shaping in society, including more specific terms such as masculinity and femininity, and gender stereotypes. The focus extends to relationships in connection with gender, where the influence of family relationships on development, the impact of peers, and parasocial relationships, relationships between fans and celebrities, are thoroughly examined. Additionally, there is a chapter on what is typical in fashion for men and women. The work places a central emphasis on exploring fandom, with definitions in this area. This includes an exploration of fandom itself, the perception of the term 'fan,' boy bands, and fandoms. The chapter on Harry Styles dissects his stance on gender through various statements, fashion, and the lyrics of his songs. The practical part of the thesis involves semi-structured interviews with fans, representing both women and men. Based on the results and materials, subsequent analyses are conducted. The work aims to explore how fans perceive Harry Styles' views on gender roles in society and whether they are influenced by his opinions on...
Media image of psychologists in the Czech Republic
Pánková, Magdaléna ; Podzimek, Jan (advisor) ; Köpplová, Barbara (referee)
The thesis aims to comprehensively analyze and describe how psychologists and psychology as a field are presented in the Czech media. To identify themes, narratives, stereotypes, and values associated with the profession of psychology, I use the method of discourse analysis, thanks to which the social context can also be observed. At the beginning of the thesis, I introduce psychology, its different fields, and the appearance of professionals in the media. The next part of the thesis is devoted to the method and the presentation of the research model along with the results of the analysis. The sample analyzed consists of interviews with psychologists on television and radio over the past five years, which included both public and private media. It showed that even among the moderators, there is a confusion about the job description of psychologists. There is a noticeable call for a clear delineation of norm and psychopathology, along with demands for the conveyance of concrete practical advice for life that would help as large a group of listeners as possible. The shift from psychological discourse to media discourse is manifested primarily by the emphasis on clarity, attractiveness, and applicability of the message. The media discourse also works more with the emotions, stories and personal...

Subsequently, the theoretical part presents the specifics of science popularisation itself, including its basic formats available within the theory. Prior to this, a pilot test is included to verify the correctness of the category settings, the selected sets of scientific topics and sufficient data saturation in four selected Czech media with popularization themes. Within the main test, 612 media outputs were analysed and the results of the analysis are subsequently presented in frequency tables. The output of the thesis is an overview of media formats used in the Czech media landscape presented on the basis of the compiled categorization. In the discussion part of the thesis, the findings are placed in the further context of the theoretical part of the thesis and possible recommendations for improving the effectiveness of popularisation of scientific topics are presented.

A Hegemonic City: Discursive approach to ideology and dominance in development and planning of post-socialist Prague
Orcígr, Václav ; Balon, Jan (advisor) ; Vacková, Barbora (referee) ; Naxera, Vladimír (referee)
Late capitalist society is dominated by specific attributes of neoliberal ideology, which are inscribed in various ways in the politics of governance in the context of geographical location, political and social organization, economic situation, and other parameters. Discourse plays a specific role in the reproduction and legitimation processes of ideology. This thesis elaborates a theoretical approach to ideological dominance in the topic of urban development, specifically post-socialist Prague. The latter, as an urban space that has undergone major changes of post-revolutionary transformation, becomes a specific arena in which the discursive manifestations of various actors contribute to the production of theoretically identified (and also other yet unrecognized) patterns of dominant ideology. These, in turn, create a discursive field in which reproductive and legitimizing schemas are produced that contribute to the fact that the theme of urban development serves as one of the significant means that reinforce the global hegemonic position of neoliberal capitalism. The thesis builds on Pierre Bourdieu's theoretical approach to identify the actor field within which the processes of reproduction and legitimation occur, and works with Bourdieu's theory of ideological domination, which he developed...
Media discourse on Green Deal from energy perspective
Kolářová, Marta
Green Deal, the European Commission's initiative to protect the climate and reduce emissions greenhouse gases, has sparked controversy in the Czech public debate. An analysis of media discourse on the Green Deal from an energy perspective shows that the Green Deal is perceived predominantly negatively. In the media, it has been labelled with condemnatory statements and negative characteristics, especially by leading Czech politicians. A more favourable view of it is held by Czech companies, municipalities and experts. The public debate is being transformed in particular by the impact of the war in Ukraine in favour of energy security and accelerating the green transformation.
