Evolution of anthropometric indices in pre-school children
Borešová, Martina ; Ehler, Edvard (advisor) ; Vančata, Václav (referee)
The diploma thesis is mainly focused on monitoring Rohrer's index (RI) at preschool children in age of 3, 4, 5, and 6. The work is solving the question of mutual relation between Rohrer's index, sickness rate, and spontaneous activity of preschool children. Furthermore, Body Mass Index (BMI) is listed as another anthropometric index. In fact, BMI shouldn't be used for this age group but it's mentioned for its general knowledge. The anthropometric research includes the measurement of preschool's children body height and weight. 240 children were measured in total. Each age group contains 60 kids from which are always 30 boys and 30 girls. In addition, there is evaluated children's half year of preschool attendance, sickness, and spontaneous physical activity. The research is dealing with the question if body weight or height can influence children's sickness rate. Moreover, there is solved the association between kids' anthropometric indexes and physical activity. The data were processed through Student's t- test and the independence test  2 . As it is stated by professionals, the research has proven that Rohrer's index is decreasing in relation to age. The next result shows that children with lower anthropometric indexes are usually more spontaneously active. Kids with higher indexes are more...

Self-esteem and body image in relation to somatotypes
Kernerová, Anna ; Pivoňková, Věra (advisor) ; Hroníková, Linda (referee)
This thesis focuses on the relationship between body image and somatotypes in the young Czech student population. Previous studies have shown a relationship between body image and BMI, notwithstanding, somatotypes describe body morphology in a more detailed way. Somatotypes describe the amount of body fat (endomorphy), the amount of muscle mass and the robustness of bones (mesomorphy), and the length of arms and legs relative to the rest of the body (ectomorphy). Seventy-one women and seventy men participated in our study. They completed a battery of questionnaires (The Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire; The Body Figure Scale of Dosedlová et al., 2008; Rosengerg's self-esteem scale; State-Trait Anxiety Inventory - T; and Beck's Depression Inventory - II). Then they underwent an anthropometric measure of somatotype components (endomorphy, mesomorphy, and ectomorphy) according to Carter and Heath's anthropometric method and were assigned to a certain somatotype. In our sample, there were 5 somatotypes in men (endomorph, mesomorph, ectomorphic mesomorph, mesomorph-ectomorph and ectomorph) and 6 somatotypes in women (endomorph, endomorph- mesomoroph, mesomorph, mesomorph-ectomorph, ectomorph and the central type). The questionnaires' scores were then statistically compared between...
The effect of a two-month reducing and exercise training programme on the change of body fat of adults.
Klimentová, Andrea ; Vacková, Blanka (advisor) ; Sedlak, Petr (referee)
The main objective of my thesis was evaluate the two-month motion reduction program by determining changes in body fat of fitness clients. The study included a total of 61 persons from that 29 men and 32 women. Used were basic anthropometric methods - calliperation method and calculation of percent body fat according to Pařízková, bioelectric impedance BIA, calculating the percentage of body fat according to Deurenberg and BMI. The study foresees reduction program success (reduction in body weight, body fat and BMI values for all participants of the investigation file), the possibility of using regression equations establishing the percentage of body fat in terms of fitness, improvement of physical and mental well-being of clients and increasing the motivation for the next sport activities. Healthy Lifestyle of Secondary Schools Youth in Teplice
Fürst, Roman ; Váchová, Alena (advisor) ; Kovaříková, Miroslava (referee)
The diploma thesis addresses the lifestyle of the high school students in Teplice; in particular their healthy lifestyle. In the theoretical part, basic information about a healthy lifestyle is summarized. At the same time, the lifestyle information is introduced, which relates to healthy diet, eating habits, fluid intake, motion activity and sleep. Furthermore, the determinants harmful to human health are introduced in this part; i.e. alcoholic beverages overconsumption, smoking or excessive mental strain. The practical part is aimed at mapping the major factors of the high school youth's lifestyle in Teplice and to ascertain whether the taught subject focused on health and healthy lifestyle influences the students and their attitude to a healthier lifestyle. I evaluated the questionnaire survey by means of self-made evaluation methods based on the healthy lifestyle principles. The reason was that none of the discovered methods for poll evaluation corresponded with my needs. The results are clearly arranged in the attached tables and demonstrated in the charts. The health based subject taught at school proved to have only a minor impact on the healthy lifestyle of high school students. The appendix includes the sample of the evaluation method created by myself, the questionnaire applied for the...
