SELF-EVALUATION IN SECONDARY SCHOOLS Abstract The dissertation thesis focuses on self-evaluation - self-evaluation of schools - in secondary schools in the Czech Republic with an emphasis on creation and development of professional community of teachers and creation of schools as Learning Organizations. The current state of research in the field of self-evaluation is described by the study of Czech and foreign literature. Self-conducted empirical investigation helped to determine the real state of its implementation in our secondary schools. In the framework of the thesis, self-evaluation is understood as a condition for further development of the school, improvement of the quality of teachers and all school activities; so that the school would be able to best reflect the needs of the market and its social partners. The purpose is to allow the school itself to assess its situation, to define its own problems and to find solutions - to find self-improvements. The thesis introduces a variety of approaches, benefits and difficulties that the current state of self-evaluation causes. Tittle: Students' perception survey of teacher quality in lower and upper secondary school Author: Jan Juříček Department: Department of Education Supervisor: PhDr. RNDr. Hana Voňková, Ph.D., Ph.D Abstract: The aim of " Students' perception survey of teacher quality in lower and upper secondary school" is to inform readers about the concept of getting feedback for teachers from their students. The feedback is based on four surveys, namely I Know My Class, My Student Survey, 7C, and YouthTruth. We also present the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of a feedback. The summary of available information about surveys dealing with students' feedback for teachers and the analyses of those surveys belong among the main points of the theoretical part. The aim of the empirical part is to compare the key categories among the surveys and to generalise the basic educational themes and issues the surveys are dealing with. Another goal is to examine, whether the content of the surveys is similar and can be compared to our educational reality. We will analyse this through the comparison of the surveys' key categories and the proposed Czech and German teacher standards. An Abstract: Evaluation is a crucial part of every human activity and every qualified school teacher knows that it is not possible to do the work without evaluating activities. That's why the teacher's evaluation becomes a necessary, meaningful and obvious part of the educational process. It belongs to the most difficult teaching activities. The target of my bachelor's work is to find out teachers' attitudes and practical experiences with evaluation. In a detailed analysis I tried to show the extensive and wide range that the ability contents. The meaning of my work is to describe and analyse all the evaluating activities on the basis of a qualitative research using a method of an interview. I tried to find out in which different professional contents nursery school teachers and manager school teachers do their evaluating activities. The work is divided in a theoretical and a practical part. The fisrt part is a summary of evaluation theoretical knowledge based on a study of technical literature. In the bachelor's work there are described processes of teacher's evaluating activities. In the practical part there are mentioned the results of the research which was carried out by a method of an interview with three nursery school and basic school teachers.
