In a Land Far, Far Away. Theorizing Attempts at Children's and Youth Literature
Segi Lukavská, Jana ; Bílek, Petr (advisor) ; Králíková, Andrea (referee)
The diploma thesis introduces critically selected theoretical concepts that try to describe characteristics of children's and youth literature (further: LPDM). It focuses on approx. last thirty years of foreign research in LPDM. Firstly, the attention is paid to theories analyzing LPDM for specific qualities of appropriate texts. Then, the thesis presents theories which primarily describe LPDM on the base of specific context: the context in which the works emerged and are (expertly and non-expertly) received. Finally, the diploma thesis concerns with the potential benefit of presented theories but also with their problematic parts. By that it tries to offer new tools of productive analysis and interpretation of LPDM to Czech discourse of literary science.

Thinking the psychedelic
Michalik, Tadeáš ; Marek, Jakub (advisor) ; Novák, Aleš (referee)
2 Abstract In this text, we are asking if it is possible to think the 'psychedelic' without labelling it as 'different', 'imaginary', 'fantastic' or 'unreal', and without thinking it as a particular experiential region belonging specifically to human experience. By first thinking 'experience', we are then attempting to relate the psychedelic experience to human experience considered in the simple joining of its basic dimensions, and to think both of these experiential modalities through the same motives. If we think 'experience' as opening itself through its boundaries, which limit and thus open the dimensions through which the fundamental relation of presencing and apprehension plays, then we can think the psychedelic using the concept of 'layer' derived from the concept of 'boundary'. We first think the phenomena of transparency of time, of transparent attunement and of transparent clarity, which belong to human experience in its simplicity. We then think the phenomenon of disjoining of the basic dimensions of human experience, which takes us from human experience in its simplicity, through strangeness, towards the psychedelic. Lastly, we think the phenomenon of permeating, taking us to the simply joined or disjoined dimensions of human and non-human experience being played out in their layeredness...

Antonio Machado y Álvarez: flamenco lyrics
Vlková, Jana ; Sánchez Fernández, Juan Antonio (advisor) ; Housková, Anna (referee)
The present work concentrates on the analysis of the most significant aspects of the flamenco lyrics gathered by Spanish folclorist Antonio Machado y Álvarez (Demófilo) in his anthologies Colección de Cantes Flamencos and Cantes Flamencos y Cantares. The collected material consists of short units of poetry called coplas flamencas, which comprise of some few verses. These are used as segments, of which the whole flamenco composition is being built. The first important characteristics, determined by the brevity of the form, is the utmost simplicity and concision of expression: the limited space of these texts does not reduce their capacity for intensive expression. Quite the opposite, often the resulting effect is enhanced, as less is said. As nothing in these texts is autotelic, also the images of the external world serve, in these texts centered on the human being and its inner world, their purpose: they reflect the inner reality. The fact that the subjective inner reality is in the centre of flamenco poetry manifests itself also in that the personal experience is the principal subject, presented from the first person perspective or its capacity for creating the impression of autobiographicity. The expression and sharing of personal experience functions as an advice and a source of information...
Vitality in the architectonic environment
Eyer, David ; Horáček, Martin (referee) ; Hudec, Mojmír (referee) ; Kyselka, Mojmír (referee) ; Žabičková, Ivana (advisor)
More and more research studies are being conducted on the quality of architectural space as a factor affecting our mental, social and physical health. In the past, this topic was often overlooked in its complexity. The establishment of the specialized fields of building biology, biophilic architecture and the works of Christopher Alexander and Nikos Salingaros now allow us to consider various facets of this subject. This dissertation aims to analyse the topic of vitality in architectural space by studying the abilities and perceptions of its users. Therefore its aim is not to develop a new theory of “vitality-enhancing architectural space”, but to describe how this phenomenon is perceived by the users themselves. Users can provide feedback on which features of architectural space they see as the most important for the feeling of vitality. These features have been hierarchically organized based on their perceived importance, analysed and described in detail to allow their relatively easy application in practice. This dissertation will also allow a comparison with other existing works on the studied topic.
