Development of Children's Education Programmes in Czech Television from 1992 to 2010

This thesis surveys the development of education programmes variety broadcast by the Czech Television from 1992 to 2010. The main tendencies of pragramme creation are illustrated on the background of specific political, social and technological context characteristic for the Czech Republic in the period concerned. The theoretical part gathers some relevant information from the fields of sociology, psychology and media studies connected to the socialization process, with special focus on children. One separate chapter is then dedicated to the issue of education programme definition, another to the legislative and further social role of the Czech television in relation to education. By means of annual almanacs, papers, PROVYS software system, internal and public documents research, as well as a number of interviews with current or former employees of the Czech television, the empirical part illustrates the development and changes referring to the period studied. The result of this is an extensive image of the main tendencies of television education development produces by groups or centers in charge. 2010 - "Počítáme s dětmi v České televizi": Programmes for Children and Youth in the Czech Television

The diploma thesis "The Year 2010 - Pocitame s detmi v Ceske televizi: Programmes for Children and Youth in the Czech Television" deals with broadcasting for children and youths on Czech Television and focuses on the production of cyclic programmes. It summarizes the production of these programmes since the beginning of Czech Television in 1992 until 2010. The author also describes the structure of production centers in Czech Television that used to produce and are still producing those programmes. Furthermore, the author analyzes the strategy Pocitame s detmi v Ceske televizi which followed the previous projects - "Osudove osmicky v nadich dejinach" (the Fateful Eights in our history) and "Rok svobody" (the Year of Freedom). The analysis consists of an overview of existing, new cyclic and also planned programmes which Czech Television started or planned to broadcast during this strategy. Karel Caslavsky's documentary aktivities on TV

The submitted paper deals with the work of the significant film historian Mr. Karel Caslavsky and focuses on his auctorial series Hledání ztraceného času (Searching the Lost Time). In the first part, I will briefly describe the early phase of his life and the beginning of his professional work in the Czechoslovak Television. Further, I will write about the show Videostop in which he was recognized by the public for the first time. The main intention is the detailed analysis of the series Hledání ztraceného času which will be supported by the solitaire episodes, mini-series and, especially, two unique cycles Co viděly americké kamery v Čechách (What the US Cameras saw in Bohemia) and Vltava v obrazech (The Vltava River in Pictures). I will focus on the preparation process, the work with the archive materials, the way of realization or the importance of his work for the Czech public as such. There are interviews with the close colleagues of Mr Caslavsky as part of the study.
Corporate social responsibility of public media service: analysis of strategy of Czech Television

The aim of the thesis is to explore corporate social responsibility strategy of public media services. The research method endorsed is a case study of Czech Television that combine a multiple source of data such as official documents, archive records and informal interviews. The analysis points out the influence of institutional conditions and stakeholders, describes particular CSR initiatives and the way communication strategies of Czech Television are working. The thesis offers an analytical model which at the same time is describing the functioning logic of CSR strategy in public media services and can be used for further research on CSR in general. Financing options of Czech feature film from the perspective of creators

This thesis evaluates the financing options of Czech feature film from the perspective of the creators. The first part deals with an overview of the options and their brief description, the second part focuses on the analysis of interviews with filmmakers who answered questions about the choice of the producer, the level of budget, experience with specific resources and finally presented their own opinions about the general possibilities of financing of Czech films. The final summary is established on the basis of the analysis of the interviewees's opinions and experience.
Problematic or interesting pronuntiation of foreign proper names (a Czech Television employees’ view)

This article presents preliminary results from field research conducted at Czech Television. Researchers from the Czech Language Institute conducted a total of 11 approximately hour-long semi-structured interviews with Czech Television employees. Topics of the interviews included words which are problematic or otherwise interesting in terms of pronunciation, and potential solutions to these pronunciation problems. The article presents an overview of 80 foreign proper names, 10 common names and 12 abbreviations which have various pronunciation variants, respondents’ attitudes toward them, and in some cases their declared process of finding the appropriate pronunciation. Attention is further devoted to the respondents’ awareness of the rules for the pronunciation of loanwords and foreign language personal names in Czech.
Production of music programs in Czech television with focus on the ČT art channel

The aim of this thesis is to describe the process of development and production of music programs and the position of music within the Czech television broadcast system; the analysis of the viewership development of the newly created ČT art channel and the representation of music programs and their respective genres on this channel. The theoretical part of the thesis defines related terms and clarifies the role of the individual segments in the proces of development and production of the programs. The practical part compares different ways of the production's proces on four specific cases, determines the development of the viewership for each year and charts in detail the musical oriented broadcast windows.
Language politics in the Czech public media from the point of view of a phonetician

The paper is focused on the language culture and language management in the field of the Czech public mass media (Czech Television and Czech Radio). It is indisputable that the professional speakers from these mass media play a role of so called model speakers for the users of the Czech language. The article deals with the question how the mass media monitor the quality of the oral speeches, if they co-operate with some language consulters, etc. It shows also one of the methods used for the evaluation of the oral speeches. The attention will be devoted especially on the phonetic aspect of the speeches.
Analysis and Comparison of selected Developmental Parameters of Czech and Slovak Television

The aim of this Bachelor's thesis is to analyze and subsequently compare and evaluate the progress of selected developmental indicators of the Czech and Slovak television. In the theoretical section is initially approached the evolution of the public television market in the middle and eastern Europe. After that, the thesis is focused on the Czech and Slovak television. At first, we get acquainted with its history and development, then we take a closer look at the analysis of selected parameters of both institutions, which are divided into three regions. In the final chapter, the analyzed parameters are compared, evaluated and explained.
Czech television commercial products in relation to media cooperation

This master thesis deals with Czech television commercial products in relation to cooperation with media houses. The objective is to evaluate the presence of commercial products in Czech Television using qualitative and quantitative research, taking into consideration the part of the viewer, and advertiser of individual campaigns focusing on media houses. The thesis consists of two parts. The first theoretical part introduces the issue of commercial communication, characteristics and measurability of media. Further, it deals with media influence of Czech Television, including commercial products which may be used in broadcasting. The second part looks into the implementation process of barter between Czech Television and media house. After that, there are secondary data obtained from the project MML-TGI and primary data from the questionnaire survey analyzed. Fi-nally are presented interviews with practitioners who provide a comprehensive view of the ongoing barter cooperation.
