Teaching economics as part of general education in the Czech Republic
Smrčková, Jana ; Havlínová, Ivana (referee) ; Tichá, Milena (advisor)
Dissertation work on topic Teaching economics as part of general education in the Czech Republic comes out of supposition that economics has, in the context of other social sciences, only marginal significance which is enhanced by negative attitude of students and teachers as well. The issue of teaching economics is perceived in the complex of relations between theory and practice. First part of my dissertation work isdedicated to incorporation of economics into educational curriculum and in new A levels exams. First part of dissertation also concerns with methodical support of curriculum (textbooks, projects and other materials). Critical evaluation and analysis of available materials make up the basis of the first part which is accompanied by existing situation of teaching economics and by essential vocabulary of most important terms. The main finding of theoretical examination is the fact that there is a vast amount of these materials, but they are not always suitable (particularly we find that there is little choice of suitable and up-to-date textbooks). Second part of my dissertation work is based on questionnaire survey whose aim was to find out how teaching economics appears in educational reality. In questionnaire survey was preferred perspective of attitudes (attitudes of teachers and their...

Essays in Applied Microeconomics: School Admission Mechanisms and Corporate Bankrupcy
Knot, Ondřej ; Roland, Gérard (advisor) ; Švejnar, Jan (referee) ; Filer, Randall (referee)
In my dissertation, I address two topics in applied microeconomics. First two chapters deal with the functioning of school admission mechanisms and their affects on student school choice behavior. Third chapter deals with the question of optimal bankruptcy law design. Pupil-school matching mechanisms play a critical role in the schooling system. They affect the behavior of students and-through the information they convey-also the behavior of the schools and the authorities responsible for education policy. In the first chapter (joint with Daniel Münich), using a computational simulation model, we analyze the functioning of an admission scheme used in the Czech Republic as a prototype of decentralized, ability-based admission schemes widely used in the world to assign pupils to upper-secondary schools. Our findings show large incidence of strategic misrepresentation of school preferences among applicants, large differences between revealed and trued demand, and large incidence of justified envy in the resulting matching. We point out several implication this could have for functioning of schooling systems. In the second chapter, I empirically study the behavior of students under the Czech pupil-school matching mechanism. Using district-level data on demand for public gymnasia, I find significant evidence...

POMDPs for dynamic troubleshooting
Krč, Pavel ; Hric, Jan (referee) ; Vomlelová, Marta (advisor)
Dynamic troubleshooting is a process of analysing a running system in real time, predicting or detecting possible problems, correcting them and acting so as to avoid them. When realised by a computer in its most generic form it is an optimum decision problem. The framework of partially observable Markov decision processes (POMDPs) is well suited for such problems as it allows modelling the uncertainty of the future evolution of the process as well as the limited knowledge about the current state and enables to presume its own future choices of actions that alter the system or gain knowledge about it. In this work the author provides an introduction to the theory of POMDPs and describes current POMDP solution algorithms with respect to their applicability for dynamic troubleshooting. Further he presents a speci c dynamic troubleshooting problem, solves it using generic POMDP solutions and proposes his own heuristic for it which can be easily generalised to a wider class of POMDP problems. He creates a Python programming language framework for solving POMDPs, implements the mentioned algorithms within it and tests them on the presented problem.

The structure of prehistoric settlements in the upper flow of the Black Creek
Kausková, Jana ; Popelka, Miroslav (advisor) ; Metlička, Milan (referee)
Main imposition submitted work was verify present piece of knowledge about choice micro - region and preferably is complete about new inquest. This imposition was without doubts executed. Main contribution those work rests in of several months' duration really intimate cross - country inquiry elect cadastral territory. Crucial was possibility investigation one's troop in terms of wider region and creation so relatively detailed picture primeval settlement given to cell regarding surrounding. This routing and processing results can be applicable on research by other, similar periods in this region. All surveyed locations find in above sea level altitude above 400 metres. To the late time was settlement in conditions similar this secreted, or regarded behind randomly. This work proved, that in one's only thing small cell, may be over most 10 different localities.

The Rome Convention on the law applicable to contractual obligations
Uličník, Tomáš ; Kučera, Zdeněk (referee) ; Pauknerová, Monika (advisor)
Conclusion - 103 - Obsah The Rome Convention on the law applicable to contractual obligations well known also as "Rome Convention (1980)" or just "Rome I." came into force on April 4th, 1991. On the field of Private international law in the EU member states, the Rome Convention plays the most significant role regarding contractual obligations. The Purpose of the Convention was to establish and uniform the same rules for every participating country. It contains rules mainly connected with party autonomy and right to choose governing law for their particular contract and rules concerned with solving problems, when parties have not agreed on the choice of law clause in their contract (art. 4). This article has become crucial and also the most criticized throughout the whole Convention. It tries to put together two different principles: a) civil law is represented by a characteristic performance approach, in which courts of the given countries apply periodically and without many exceptions to find out the country to which the contract is most closely connected (art. 4/5), b) courts of the common law countries, on the other hand, prefer the rule of the proper law of a contract using wording of art. 4/1 and 4/5. The above mentioned issues and also the new possibility to harmonize private international law on the...

Choice of Career in Gender Perspective
Kvěchová, Lenka ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Viktorová, Ida (referee)
This study is focused on elementary school last year's schoolboys and schoolgirls occupational choices in terms of gender perspective. This dimension accompanies every one of us within our living reality, influences our mind, behaviour and acting. No wonder it influences in certain way also preferences of teenagers choosing their career. The goal of this study is to map occupational choosing processes of elementary school last year's schoolboys and schoolgirls in terms of gender perspective. There have been set up several research targets. The principal question is as following: Which way / where differ occupational choices of today's ninth class schoolboys and schoolgirls influenced with gender arrangement and gender stereotypes? Further questions touch related topics: How the gender arrangement influences these teenager's future plans? To what degree acts school for the benefit of equal opportunities when prepares for the occupational choice? How the schoolboys, schoolgirls and their teachers perceive job market segregation, being anticipated by education and preparation for particular occupation, which is in itself influenced with the gender arrangement? Theoretical section explains basic constructs. Furthermore it notifies of gender based job market segregation. Next chapter is dedicated to gender in...

Analysis of the value of ecosystem services by stated preference methods: Case study of clearance cairns in the Eastern Ore Mountain
Břízová, Lucie ; Vojáček, Ondřej (advisor) ; Slavíková, Lenka (referee)
During last decade there has been developed concept of so-called ecosystem services (e.g. Millennium Ecosystem Assessment, 2005) in matured countries. This concept focus especially on identification of benefits resulting from intact ecosystem and also on various ways of taking all those benefits into account when dealing with decision-making process of market economy. Goal of this concept (among other things) is to keep currently freely available ecosystem services in nature as they are and also to ensure natural conditions for life won't be becoming worse. Landscape of eastern Ore Mountain has its specific character especially because of few unique ecosystems which don't occur in other locations at all; or they are presented there but not in such high volume. We can consider mountain meadows, natural streams and clearance cairns at the most important local unique ecosystems. Main goal of diploma thesis is to analyze recreational and mainly aesthetic values of clearance cairns. Even though clearance cairns are important biotopes there was quite small attention dedicated to them in existing analyses made in Czech Republic. That is in heavy contrast to attention dedicated to those biotopes in other areas, e.g. in eastern part of Ore Mountain belonging to Saxony where local inhabitants appreciate clearance cairns so much that every single section of them is completely documented (resulting into 1.000 kilometers of documented clearance cairns). Diploma thesis is based on methodology using analysis of primary data obtained from empirical research. Research was realized in eastern Ore Mountain during summer 2013 and author of this thesis was actively participated both in preparation phase and also in realization phase. Thesis also uses random utility theory, discrete choice models and also stated preferences methods (e.g. Bateman et al., 2002). Multinominal logit model and random parameter logic model are used for values estimation. Based on performed analysis thesis verifies or disproves hypothesis saying that willingness to pay for clearance cairns is statistically insignificant (i.e. people don't consider this landscape element as having significant value). Diploma thesis results will be used as a suggestion for obtaining clearance cairns management.

Analysis of the Consumers' Shopping Behaviour in Selected Locality
Fritsch, Martin ; Cimler, Petr (advisor) ; Hommerová, Dita (referee)
Bachelor thesis analyses shopping behaviour of the customers from Černošice and its environs. It describes selected shops in Černošice and nearby and briefly characterizes a development of preferences of a type of a main shopping place for food in the Czech Republic and shoppers' character in the Czech Republic. Shopping behaviour of the customers from Černošice and its surroundings is analysed on the basis of its author's survey. The choice of shops is described as well as its reasons. The importance of these reasons is compared according to the choice of the type of main shopping place or the shoppers' mobility. The outcomes of this analysis are compared to the situation in the Czech Republic.

The influence of acute and chronic application of olanzapine on brain perfusion in rat
Dražanová, Eva ; Rudá-Kučerová, J. ; Krátká, Lucie ; Horská, K. ; Kotolová, H. ; Štark, T. ; Babinská, Z. ; Micale, V. ; Starčuk jr., Zenon
Olanzapine belongs to the first choice drug in treatment of schizophrenia. We focused on blood perfusion changes inducted by acute and chronic application of olanzapine in healthy animals and MAM altered animals. We detectet significant lower perfusion of cerebral cortex in acute and chronic olanzapine treated animals. We susspect that it could be due to altered neurotransmiter regulation caused by olanzapine.
