Comparing the Success of Children's Homes and Detention Centres at Preparing Individuals for Life Outside an Institution Ivana Gabaľová Bachelor's Thesis 3.1.2012 SOSP FSV UK Abstract In her thesis, the author discusses the situation of young adults after leaving institutional care, their level of social integration and ability to cope with independent life. She deals with the impact of environment on the socialization process, with the nature and extent of potential for a successful life these individuals posses from their family, and what the role of the institution in the process of their preparation for independent life is. The paper examines differences in the needs of clients of children's homes and detention centres and seeks to identify critical factors determining success in their personal lives and on the labour market. Expert interviews with staff of both of these types of institution conclude that differences between children's homes and detention centres in this regard are negligible. In detention centres there is a bigger emphasis on obedience due to problematic behaviour of the wards, whereas in children's homes, children have more freedom. Life plans of teenage girls leaving institutional care

The aim of my bachelor's thesis is to map the attitudes and life expectations of girls after leaving the juvenile deliquency center (institutional care center). In the theoretical part are explained the basic concepts related to the topic of institutional education, described the common reasons for placement in the institution, the principle of operation of a comprehensive system of this form of alternative care, this part also focuses on specific impact of institutioal care on development of the child, the structure of the institucional care center and its internal rules. The thesis also mentions behavioral disorders, the adolescence associated with self-concept in adolescence and also describes the concept of attitudes. The practical part of the work focuses in more detail on the plans and ambitions of the respondents using the method of semi-structured interview. Next step was data analysis using the method of open coding and data interpretation. The research sample consists of 7 girls aged 17-18 who will be leaving the educational institution in the foreseeable future. The data analysis reveals specific categories of plans and attitudes which are identical to the theoretical facts presented in the first part of the work. Educating children from a Children's Home

Dissertation is focused on the issue of institutional care in the Czech Republic. The main focus of this work are children's homes, education and socialization of children placed in this type of residential care. The aim of the theoretical part is to describe the characteristics of subjects of institutional care in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, to compare institutional care with selected countries and describe the child's socialization in the family and at school. A historical overview of institutional care in the Czech Republic is also described, and in conclusion the author deals with a specific description of the social inclusion of pupils with special educational needs in the teaching process at primary school. The empirical part reports on the research and its results obtained by qualitative methodology using case study design. The main goal of the research was to find out how children from a children's home are integrated into the teaching process at primary school. Furthermore, the author set several partial goals. Experiential Pedagogical Teaching and Variation of using it for Clients in the Educational Institution

The bachelor thesis with potential possibilities of using pedagogical learning for clients in the educational institution may be one of the different school facilities for the performance of institutional and protective education. Regarding the creators, organization, search and evaluation of stays, who have a share in who has a chance, it can be stored in the institution for the performance of institutional and protective education, dare to say that the result of the research is significantly positive. The theoretical part is presented in four chapters. The first chapter presenting legislative framework of institutional care in the Czech Republic and the division into other types of school facilities for institutional and protective care. The second chapter focuses on behavioral disorders, their characteristics and division. The third chapter describes re-education and re-socialization programs as the solution of available transferred processes. The last chapter focus on experiential learning. Practical part of bachelor thesis describe creating, organization, searching and evaluation of weekend stay for group of clients from educational institute based on principle of experiential pedagogical learning. The result is a processed methodological material which can be possible to use as a prepare and organize other important stays. Practical part of bachelor thesis was created based on qualitative type of research strategy, questioning methods, observation techniques, semi-structured interviews with selected clients and secondary data analysis. At the end of the thesis we describing use the method of experiential learning during weekend stays for clients in the educational institution and about the positive and negative outcome, which can come with realize this type of stay.
The problem of abuse of addictive substances in a selected educational institution

This bachelor thesis is investigating a current issue of addictive substances abuse by young females in an Educational institution in Jindrichuv Hradec, in which girls are placed on the basis of a court decision.The theory part of this study investigates the problem of addictive substances use and the impact on the female population in the selected educational institution facilities. This study also looks into the institutional care offered by the authorities explores tthe behavioural disorders and types of prevention. This paper lists different addictive substances which are cetegorised into legal and illegal drugs. The practical part of this study investigates the possible cennection between the use of addictive substances by the participants and their family upbringing. Furthemore i tis looking at the current problem of drug abuse in Vychovny ustav Jindrichuv Hradec and how this issue is being addressed.Qualitative reserch in this type of case studies was analysed and used for the practical part of the paper and its outcome was recorder and presented in the table form.
Supervision in organization providing institutional and protective upbringing

This thesis deals with the topic of supervision of staffers in organization providing institutional and protective upbringing. The goal of the thesis is to reflect how supervision can support the work of staffers in educational institution. The thesis describes the importance of educational institution, its staffers and educational group as a basic organizational unit. Furthermore thesis characterizes the specifics of team and team cooperation, which takes place in educational groups in these organizations. Next part of this thesis describes supervision like a professional activity which provides support of staffers and its function and main goals. Thesis is focused on specification team supervision in more detail. All findings about supervision in this thesis are applicated to the organization providing institutional and protective upbringing. The last part of the thesis includes results of research. The research investigates a contribution of supervision for staffers of specific organization.
