Czech media approach toward the implementation of state school-leaving examination 2010 (bias analysis)

The bachelor thesis called "Czech media approach toward the implementation of state school-leaving examination 2010 (bias analysis) comprehends attitudes of the selected periodicals (dailies Právo, Mladá fronta DNES and Lidové noviny; magazines Reflex and Respekt) towards the question of state school-leaving examination implementation on Czech high schools. Since we are talking about education, with no doubts affecting marginal public proportion, media devoted a lot of space to this issue as to one of the most discussed topics within the year 2010. The bachelor thesis endeavour is addressed to research whether in these concrete attitudes of the given periodicals might be observed bias marks in the way of information presenting. There will be two various methods applied - quantitative content analysis and discourse analysis. Background data for both these methods will constitute of articles issued in the above mentioned periodicals during October 2010 (thus at a time when test run for the state school-leaving examinations was held). First grade of state graduation reflection

The subject of this work is a reflection on the newly introduced state graduation and its results in the first year of its launch. The work aims to show the positive and negative impacts brought by the state graduation, particularly in relation to the claims put on the school management. The theoretical part focuses on introducing a new form of school-leaving examination and its proclaimed goals, then analyzing the results achieved by the pupils and also changes which authors of state graduation approached the experience with its first year. It is mainly based on published articles and analyzes of general pedagogical and professional media, from professional publications, the official website of The Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports (MEYS, MŠMT in Czech) and CERMAT (Centre on Measurement in Education). The practical part is focused on the result analysis of the questionnaire survey for directors of high schools and colleges that was supposed to map out how the new concept of graduation affected their work. The first year of state graduation produced significant differences in the results among the individual schools and a significant increase of the failure as compared to preceding years. Can you raise your expected points earned at state leaving exam by the selection of the school?

In my bachelor's thesis I examine the various characteristics of grammar schools' influence on students' success regarding the state leaving exam. Specifically, if the applicant can raise his or her expected points earned simply by the mere selection of the school. I work with data from the 2011 and 2012 graduation years and I concentrate on the average scores in Czech language and literature, English and math. Econometric analysis shows that some variables do have an effect on students' results. Playing the most significant roles are class size (positive effect), instructor qualification (positive effect) and religious affiliation (negative effect).
The preparedness of students of commercial Academy for future employment

This diploma thesis deals with preparedness of students of commercial Academy for their future employment. The object of research was Commercial Academy and Language school of Trebic. In present time the most of the students continue their studies on universities or college. My main interest was if the students of third class know the profile of graduate, the possibilities of future employment, if they find the present teaching system sufficient and if they applied any changes. The thesis also contains the view of teachers. As I am a former graduate and present teacher on this commercial Academy my main goal was to catch the both points of view. The thesis also shortly describes the implementation of state final exams and the system of high school's financing.
