European nations in the Asterix series

The aim of the thesis is to confront predominantly Celtic nations depicted in the comic series about Aste rix by René Goscinny and Albert Uderz with information derived from literary as well as archaeological sources and consequently to describe current stereotypes and political and social events appearing in the series. Since its origin, Asterix series has become a world phenomenon with readers across both the social and age spectrum. Numerous allusions to the recent past, which the authors decided to humorously comment on through their cartoon characters, can be found in the series. However, each of the stories takes place in the historical background of the times around the year 50 BC, and it seems interesting to observe to what extent Uderzo and Goscinny stick to the sources and when their fantasy takes over. Journalistic approaches in political-satirical TV shows in the USA

1 Abstract This thesis aims to examine the journalistic approaches in three American political satire television shows - The Daily Show, Last Week Tonight and The Late Show. The author searches the common features of the three examined shows, tries to characterize them, and place them into the media context of the United States of America. The author describes to the reader how these shows, through political satire, combine opinion journalism, investigative journalism and humour. Because this thesis deals with American shows, it mostly uses foreign professional literature. This work has two large parts - theoretical and practical. In the theoretical passage, the author tries to define satire as a genre, mentions its use in politics and the relationship satire plays between journalism and humour. The theoretical part continues with the description of the particular journalistic approaches used in these shows and contains the explanation of the position of the examined shows in regards to the approaches these shows use bordering between investigative journalism and comedic humour. Satire and parody on social networks: fake Czech profiles

The aim of this work is to map fake Czech profiles on social network Facebook and Twitter. "Fake profiles" in this case mean those where authors are acting as a well-known person, company or institution. The authors mostly found these to entertain themselves and readers. They use satire, parody, and often sarcasm as well. After a general introduction to the topic, which includes, among other things, the introduction of social networks, including the regulation they take for the protection of personality, the main part follows. It analyzes 8 different Czech false profiles. The content of the posts, the account statistics, the most successful posts and possibly other related information are presented. An important part of the work are interviews with authors of these profiles as well as with counterparts, real people or companies. This offers a close look at the backstage of the creation and running of the profile and, on the other hand, the possibility to ascertain the reaction of the concerned party. The next section was included in order to bring a wider view of the issue. It is devoted to similar profiles abroad, which gives the possibility of comparison of the local and international environment. Small genre forms in the journal Host do domu (1960 - 1970)

Bachelor thesis "Small genre forms in the journal Host do domu (1960 - 1970)" focuses on qualitative analysis of small genre forms in the journal Host do domu during the period mentioned. It concentrates mainly on the evolution of satire and small reviews in the 1960s. The first part presents the contemporary historical and literary context as background for the description of the journal's history and of the variety of editorial staff. A brief formal and content characteristic of the journal follows. The second part is dedicated to a minute analysis of satire and small reviews in the Host do domu journal in the sixties. Attention is paid mostly to frecuency, form and subject matters of these small genre forms. The thesis also monitors possible connection between their content and the political and social situation. Satire is represented mainly by aphorisms, epigrams, satirical poems, caricatures and humoristic images in the Host do domu journal. Small reviews are short feuilletons on different topics written by Jan Skácel. The aim of this thesis is to capture the evolution of satire and small reviews during the 1960s and to briefly note the general changes in the appearance and course of Host do domu.

Optimism at the time of fear and lack of freedom

The student attempts in her thesis to reveal the essential problem of the formation of public opinion, based on the example of the oppositional satirical magazine Der Simpl, that was published in Prague in the time of the expansion of nacism in Germany in the years 1934- 1935. The title of the thesis characterizes the effort the oppositional journalists in some kind of "emotional relief" in the time of intensified censorship and repression on one sinde, on the other side it is headed for the problem of creating media constucts with emotional aspect, on the side both system and opposition. The author tries to summarize the instruments of creation of the so called "optimistical illusion" in the society and the methods of their influencing the formation of public opinion. Based on the theoretical framework and the analysis of some caricatures, the student tries to demonstrate, in which way the oppositional journalist in Nazi era tried to balance the current issues. As the student summarizes in the final part of the thesis, satire and oppositional journalistics does not change very much in the human life. Czech political satire on TV and it's comparation with foreign countries

This thesis deals with the TV political satire. It characterizes the selected audio-visual session of the genre of the Czech and American productions. Programs from the Czech environment were Česká soda, S politiky netančím and Politické harašení aneb S politiky stále netančíme, 168 hodin and Kancelář Blaník. The American programs were The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and The Onion News Network. All these TV programs were initially characterized from formal and content points of view. Satire in Classical Arabic Poetry

Satirical poetry is generally considered as a one of the most important genres of the classical Arabic literature. Genre of poetry was in the pre-Islamic and early Islamic society highly appreciated and the Arabs used to regard it as the only form of the real literature. Unlike prose which was limited to the folklore and educational literature esteemed the Arabs poetry as a real art expression and the poet hold also very strong position within the traditional Arab society. Arabic satirical poetry is believed to grow up from curses and lampoons declaimed by traditional Arab wizards, kāhins, and due to the fact that faith in the power of word was still very deeply rooted in people's minds, Arabic satirical poetry was ascribed a very good reputation. The development of society after the rise of Islam also had a very strong impact upon the function of traditional genres of the Arabic poetry. From its original function of discouraging and threating enemies satirical poetry developed into the means of poet's subsistence, political propaganda and society entertainment. The period issue of the satirical signs of socialism of the work "Black Barons" from the perspective of Lotman's works

This thesis attempts to clarify the period issue of satirical signs of socialism of the prose "Black Barons" with regard to the Czechoslovak normalization culture. It focuses primarily on the historical role of the work and its artistic components. It studies them with a particularly semiotic perspective of Lotman's texts culturally and literary. Its core is then an analysis of the literary structure of mentioned book. It is realized with regard to the partial characters and aims to find out which specific parts of the world of the story are ridiculed and for what exactly the title is (at the time of its first publication) censorial unacceptable. The rise of television political satire in the USA, the Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium

The work "Rise of television political satire in the USA, Czech Republic and Germany in the new millennium" maps the development of television political satire in the United States, Germany and the Czech Republic in the period from 2000 to the present days with a look at the history of this genre in each respected country. Special attention is focused on the programs that had the greatest influence on the current form of this genre and influenced it the most. The first part of the work presents the history of television political satire in each individual country and introduces their current representatives of this genre, which have the greatest influence in the modern day. This section also introduces the obstacles of their cultural environment in which the shows were created to provide a more holistic view on obstacles that these shows have had to overcome in today's media world. In the second part, selected shows will be analysed from a technical and formal point of view and attention will also be focused on their hosts.
