Černý, Jan ; Kuklík, Jan (advisor) ; Šouša, Jiří (referee)
Rights of national minorities in the Czechoslovak Republic and their application Abstract This thesis deals with the rights of national minorities in the Czechoslovak Republic. The introduction is devoted to a brief outline of the situation before the establishment of Czechoslovakia and also the situation just after its establishment and the adoption of a new state by minorities. The core of the work is the analysis of national regulation, especially the constitutional level and language law, as well as the analysis of international law, from which the national regulation was derived greatly. The thesis is also devoted to outlining the functioning of the international system for the protection of minorities within the League of Nations and its establishment. An important part for understanding the issue of the rights of national minorities is to compare their protection in several European countries that had the same international obligations to protect minorities as the Czechoslovak Republic, namely Hungary, Poland and Romania. The international system for the protection of minorities was the first such act in the field of international law and it was to some extent an experiment with a number of shortcomings, such as the recklessness of the management process at its inception or the fact that only some...

Bartůňková, Tereza ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Nečas, Vlastimil (referee)
Diploma thesis "Representation of Vietnamese in the czech newspapers" deals with representation of this ethnic minority living in the Czech Republic in some czech newspapers. Vietnamese are the third biggest group of foreigners in the Czech Republic. They started coming to our republic in 50's by agreements between Czechoslovakia and the Democratic Republic of Vietnam. Some of them stayed here after 1989 but most of immigrants after 1989 are the new incomers, mostly they come even with families. The reasons of their arrivals are most often better economic situation or better education. The vietnamese community living here is quite reserved so the media are often the only opportunity how to gain some information about this group. But the studies show that Vietnamese living in the Czech Republic get into the media above all in context of criminality. The aim of the survey, done by means of quantitative content analysis, is to chart the representation of the Vietnamese - in what way and contexts the chosen media write about them, eventually find out the fixed ways of presenting the Vietnamese or their stereotypes.

The topic of this diploma thesis is the Settlement of Karlovy Vary after the expulsion of the Germans. The work examines the period after the Second World War, when the German population was expelled in Czechoslovakia and subsequently settled by new inhabitants. The first part of the thesis examines the post-war situation and problems related to the settlement of the Czechoslovak border. Emphasis is placed on agricultural and industrial settlement with issued decrees. The second part of this thesis is devoted to the settlement of Karlovy Vary, which, despite all efforts, had serious problems with the lack of people interested in resettlement. The arrival of re-emigrants and minorities from foreign or neighboring states with Czechoslovakia is closely related to this issue, so this thesis will also address this topic.
