NGOs' perceptions of Japan's role in the nuclear disarmament regime

This Master's thesis analyses the perceptions international disarmament NGOs have on Japan's role in the nuclear disarmament regime. The research aims to examine the positions of the leading nuclear disarmament NGOs on various points in their relationship to Japan, but also to the Treaty on Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which serves as the framework of interaction for between NGOs and Japan. For the purpose of drafting conclusions based on comparison and analysis of it, several variables are operationalised - such as strategies NGOs employ in their advocacy efforts, their expectations of Japan's ratification of the TPNW or the factors they believe prevent Japan from ratifying the treaty - and elaborated upon through scholarly literature on the topic of international norms and NGOs in general. Interviews and official documents, such as annual reports or proclamations of the NGOs, are used as the main source of data for analysis. In the conclusion, the author outlines the findings and how they contradict original expectations or confirm them. He drafts a few possible scenarios for the further development of NGOs strategies within the TPNW, based on the study of Japan's case.

Cross-cultural comparison of reality show Love is Blind (USA, Brazil, Japan)

This final thesis titled as "Cross-cultural comparison of reality show Love Is Blind (USA, Brazil, Japan)" focuses on the adaptation of the popular reality show Love Is Blind in the USA, Brazil, and Japan. The aim of the thesis is to analyze how the physical separation of contestants is reflected in the different cultural versions of the show with an emphasis on presenting these differences. The thesis is divided into two main parts which are the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical one defines the topic with focus on the phenomenon of reality shows in general, followingly various types of this genre and examples of specific shows. It also includes an cross-cultural comparison using Hofstede's Cultural Dimensions Theory. The practical part of the thesis includes the characteristics of the research, the actual analysis and results. The thesis is a qualitative content analysis with elements of narrative analysis. For the purposes of the research are used all episodes from the first series of each selected adaptation. In total, it is thirty-seven episodes which are available on the streaming platform Netflix. The aim of the thesis "Contemporary Japanese art as a source of inspiration for art activities at primary school" is to present contemporary Japanese art as an inspirational topic for art education. The work is divided into theoretical and project part. The theoretical part presents the ideological anchor of the work and defines its importance in the didactics of art education. The practical part takes inspiration from selected Japanese artists and presents an art series from which individual lessons can be used to enrich art education at primary school level 1, thus giving pupils an insight into Japanese art and at the same time introducing them to Japanese culture and interesting techniques.

Sakura, manga, kimono: Representation of Japan at Japanese themed events Bc. Tomáš Nezveda Abstract This thesis studies the issue of a representation of Japan at Japanese themed events in the Czech Republic. The conclusions of this thesis are based on empirical research in three essential terrains - the Japan Information and Culture Centre of the Japanese Embassy in the Czech Republic, the Czech-Japanese Association, and the Czech anime community. Each terrain's activities are analyzed to identify images of Japan they produce for their visitors. This contextual basis is built on for a further analysis of three significant issues that arise from the research - the difference and prevalence of Japanese culture in the Czech Republic, its authenticity, and the tendency of Czech fans to idealize Japan.

Changes in Japan-South Korea Relations in the Context of the Current Trade War

This thesis examines the trade war between South Korea and Japan, which began in the summer of 2019. The dispute has a complex history that partly explains the inevitability of the conflict: Japan is still coming to terms with its colonial past, while South Korea is struggling to forgive the war crimes it committed and is waiting for an official apology. Despite the long- standing disagreements between the two countries, South Korea and Japan remain key allies of the US, which is watching the whole trade war with great concern, especially because of the potential danger from North Korea, which confirms the global impact of this trade war. It is thus in the best interests of the United States to resolve the conflict quickly. Crucially, both Japan and South Korea are using the dispute to adopt hostile historicism as a key resource in the political game: using it to legitimize their own objectives. The aim of this thesis will therefore be to answer the question of what preceded the trade war between South Korea and Japan and what are the reasons for the deterioration of bilateral relations. Comparison of poster processing in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Japan - 60s and the present

The thesis deals with the topic of film posters, both contemporary and those from the 1960's. The theoretical part is divided according to individual countries into chapters about Czech posters, Polish posters and Japanese posters of the 1960's and the present day, and discusses the historical development and representatives of poster creation of the given period and country. The analytical part observes the number of occurrences of articles about posters in both selected time periods in all three countries in chosen media as well as monitors the content of these articles.

Architecture in Japan - influences, contrasts, paralels

Planet T, as the name suggests, is a certain fictional and imaginary city or planet. The name is derived from the capital city of Japan - Tokyo. The work is on the border of a documentary photo from existing places to create a non-existent science fiction scene. Just as many other cities in the world are characteristic in some particular way, Tokyo is a city that clearly encourages this sci-fi vision of the city of the future. In the course of creation, the work also became, among other things, a study on the border between ethnographic description and autoethnographic reflection of Tokyo. It took the form of a personal diary, where I wrote both everyday experiences and architectural notes, as well as notes from observations of Japanese people and their customs.

Evolution of the interpretation and application of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution in the context of security policy of Japan Abstract The main objective of this dissertation is to analyze an important constitutional and legal issue, which is the interpretation of Article 9 of the Japanese Constitution in light of the changing security policy of Japan, with particular emphasis on the passage of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's controversial legislation in 2015. In addition to historical models of governance, the thesis describes the debate over the constitutional text and shows that while Article 9 was intended to be a safeguard against the re-militarization of Japan and the recurrence of wartime horrors, with new challenges, the United States sought to rebuild Japan's armed forces. Japan's LDP-dominated governments, however, citing the Cabinet Legislation Bureau's strict interpretation of Article 9, largely resisted these pressures, leaving security to its American ally and focusing on economic development. Radical constitutional reinterpretation and constitutional revision was hindered not only by the rigidity of the constitution but also by the structure of the political system, in which the proponents of the norm of antimilitarism had a significant role to play. Evaluation of introduction protection measures - evacuation at crash of nuclear power station Fukushima

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to evaluate the protective measures, notably the evacuation of the population, its development and progress. To achieve the goal of bachelor's work was determined by the research question: Was the safeguard measures and the subsequent procedure for the evacuation of persons from the evacuation zones sufficient? The theoretical part is focused on the particular issue of nuclear power plants, radiation protection and evacuation. The situation described here, which took place directly on the Fukushima daiichi nuclear power plant Daiichi, from the strike of the earthquake and tsunami, after the gradation events in the individual reactors. The research part is about the development of the evacuation in the evacuation zones and the nuclear power plant. Protective measures are described here, and even the consequences and the situation after the crash to the present. The methodology of this work was the gathering of available information from official foreign sources, legislative documents, but also of the publications of the experts. Processing of the available information and the evaluation of the consequences of the evacuation has brought unpleasant findings. The loss of life, which can make a person look a certain way to reflect over the selection of persons suitable to evacuate. In this work were identified and discussed technical shortcomings of the power plant, the information misconduct in communication of the population and in the last row and misconduct of the human factor. The thesis can be used in the general issue of nuclear power plants and evacuation for study purposes or as an information source in the education, energy or public administration.
