Immigration policy and integration of immigrants in Norway
Sasová, Kateřina ; Brunclík, Miloš (advisor) ; Kaleta, Ondřej (referee)
This Bachelor Thesis deals with the immigration policy and integration of immigrants in Norway. The main aim is to compare Norwegian approach with the other two Scandinavian countries, Denmark and Sweden. In the context it describes as well what reason the migrants have to settle down in Norway and the author also supports these reasons with the theoretical approaches explaining migration. The other important thing is how open Norwegian society is in the sense of immigration since at least partially open society is important to the migrants if they are supposed to integrate successfully in the country. While comparing the Scandinavian region the author comes to a conclusion that Norway indeed does stand somewhere in the middle between relatively restrictive Denmark and on the other hand quite liberal Sweden, at least in some of the aspects. The author relies to a large extent on statistical methods and the data from Swedish, Danish and Norwegian statistical offices. The comparison of Scandinavian countries is however also carried out on qualitative basis as immigration policies are compared with special emphasis on the process of naturalization that can very well demonstrate Norwegian position "in the middle".
DEVELOPMENT OF IMMIGRATION POLICY AND IMMIGRATION IN AUSTRALIA
Žáková, Samantha ; Janská, Eva (advisor) ; Pavelková, Lenka (referee)
The main aim of the thesis is to describe the development of immigration policy and immigration in Australia since the first colonization of the country up to the present. Individual waves since 1778 are analyzed, i.e. from the colonization of British settlers and immigration associated with gold rush to non-British immigration after the World War II. The work describes the shift from discriminatory White Australia policy which was abandoned mainly after Migration Act 1958 to multicultural policy. There were two different approaches to multiculturalism: assimilation of immigrants during the 1950s and their integration in the 1960s. Gaugh Whitlam government finally abolished the White Australia policy in 1973 replacing both previous positions with multicultural policy. Governments of prime ministers and changes of their approaches to multicultural policies since 1970s up to the present are discussed. Current migration and humanitarian program as well as special Department of Immigration and visa system are also part of this work.
A problem of integration of African imigrants into the portuguese society
Gottliebová, Anežka ; Hricsina, Jan (advisor) ; Jindrová, Jaroslava (referee)
This thesis covers issues connected with the integration of Portuguese-speaking immigrants from Africa into the Portuguese society. It outlines some of the major problematic areas such as housing, employment, education, relationships and health which immigrants from the PALOP countries have to confront during their integration process in Portugal. To understand the problems associated with the incorporation of these immigrants into the Portuguese society, it was necessary to describe the historical development of their mutual relationships in the historical context. This overview has been included in the work, too, as it helps to sketch how Portuguese people perceive Africans: this issue is discussed in Chapter Three. Next, the paper describes the migration and globalization phenomenon and assesses its possitive and negative impacts within Portugal, touches on problems with the terminology and specifies four basic types of immigrants. Regarding the large extent and complexity of this issue, this work should be considered only as an introduction to study of the theme.

In this diploma thesis it is examined, in what way Prague primary schools cope with the increase of children foreigners in their classrooms. Through interviews and questionnaire survey it is observed what opinions and beliefs are taken by representatives of primary schools in Prague on the issue of foreigners in education, whether they have any specific conceptions that focus on helping foreigners with integration into the Czech school system and at the same time into the majority society. Considering the fact that the process of integration is complicated and during the process a number of obstacles usually occur, it depends not only on the activities of each particular school, but also on the degree of support from the state, and on a child-foreigner himself and on his family, whether the process of integration will eventually be successful or not.
