The burnout syndrome of social workers in institutions for elderly

1 Annotation This thesis is focused on the issues of burnout syndrome and supervision as a form of prevention. The topic is focused on staff dedicated to the seniors with dementia in day-care centers. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part is devoted to the definition of basic terms related to burnout syndrome, dementia, daily care center and supervision. Results in the practical part come from the research methods used, specifically self-prepared questionnaire and questionnaire prepared by Ch. Maslachová and Ayala Pines "Tedium Measure". Furthermore I expanded the thesis with interview with selected expert. Using open questions the area of supervision and burnout syndrome is being discussed. The primary target of this thesis is to contribute to the prevention of burnout syndrome and also to map, whether supervision is being used in day-care facilities and whether it helps preventing the burnout syndrome.
Psychotherapeutic methods specialized on managing stress and traumatic situations

This work deals with methods of managing stress and traumatic situations. The goal of this work is to highlight the importance of psychohygiene in our lives, as a preparation for difficult life situations. The first part of the work explains the terms stress and trauma and represents methods and types of psychotherapy. The second part of the work is focused on more specific themes such as psychotherapeutic work with body, for example bioenergetic method and yoga. Next the work explains the term psychohygiene and it describes it's most important aspects, usable in daily life. At the end the work hightlights the existence of burn-out syndrome as a very common problem of people in helping professions. This work also includes a survey which is made by a questionnaire, which studied the influence of yoga on ability of managing stress situations. A claim, which could be found in many yoga books that the yoga improve this ability, was confirmed in this survey. As a next part there is also noticed the importance of caring about parents of disabled children. Doctors and other professionals often lay huge demands on them, they are made responsible for working on their child's development, but on the other hand no one cares about their own psychotherapy and maintaining their own mental health and well-being.
Symptoms, Causes and Overcoming Burnout among Teaching Staff

This thesis deals with burnout among teaching staff, its symptoms, causes and possibilities of overcoming. The theoretical part describes the teaching profes- sion and shows its strenuousness. It also focuses on the personality of teachers and their ethical principles. It describes the required core competencies of tea- chers and, equally important, the need for professional self-realization, which, if fulfilled, can help prevent burnout. The author analyzes the symptomatology of burnout syndrome, its causes, risk factors, stages and ways of prevention. The practical part examines the main factors influencing teachers' professional fulfillment, their place on an imaginary scale of personal preferences, and if the teachers perceived them negatively or positively. It also tries to determine whether there is a link between the professional and personal satisfaction of teachers as a possible prevention of burnout.
Attitudes toward people with disabilities - comparison of selected professional groups

This diploma thesis mainly deals with the attitudes of professionals from helping professions towards people with disabilities. Nowadays is a great emphasis on the theme of inclusion of handicapped people and is important to go especially those people who interact with them most frequently with their attitudes and behaviour as example for society. The aim of the study is to compare responses of four selected professional areas - education, psychology, social work and health, and to determine differences in attitudes and opinions towards people with disabilities. The first part contains theoretical ground concepts related to attitudes, handicapped persons and survey conducted research on this topic. The second part is dedicated to the research conducted using a structured questionnaire. This research showed that some selected attitudes across helping professions are really different.

The Culture of OSPOD Departments and the Conditions for Coping with Workload

The bachelor's thesis " The Culture of the Child Protection Unit and the Conditions for Coping with Workload" deals with working conditions at child protection unit, describes specific characteristics of the work. The thesis determines a role of head of the department focusing its essential influence on local working environment. Using the management theory the thesis specifies fundamental tactics to create stimulating surroundings with enough support and assistance in coping with overburden - often coupled with these departments. The research summarizes examples from common situations at child protection unit into concrete statements that reflect ways of executives to build good working environment for the workers - building strong relationships, considering periodic supervisions and atmosphere of trust, encouragement and respect.
Spirituality of professionals in addictology inpatient services: a questionnaire survey

Background: For dealing with addiction, bio-psycho-socio-spiritual paradigm which is the main subject of this paper. The first three topics are mostly concerned about research rather than spirituality theme itself. The majority are focusing particularly on feeling spirituality of the researched clients Aims: The main aim was to map spirituality of workers that are supporting residual addiction treatment, which could bring new findings with possible implementation to bring spirituality to practice. Aims: The main focus of the paper is to describe spirituality of residual addiction treatment workers. Methods: For data gathering, Prague spirituality questionnaire was used, where individual approach to spirituality can be assessed. The questionnaire consists of social and demographic questions combined with personal spirituality position together with its impact. There were 49 respondents consisting of residual addiction treatment workers. Results: The outcome describes differences between individual professions of which nurses are the group with biggest impact of spirituality while addictologists on the opposite site. Possibilities of employment of direct care workers in day care centers in selected region

This master's thesis deals with the possibilities of employment of direct care workers in day care centers. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part provides a primary insight into the system of social services with the specification of day care centers as social care services according to Act No. 108/2006 Coll., On social services. It also discusses the range of professions that can be employed in day care centers based on the Czech Republic's legal system. The practical part presents quantitative research which had an aim to find out the possibilities of employment of direct care workers in day care centers in a selected region, the capital city of the Prague region. The research monitors the professional proportionality of multidisciplinary teams concerning the level and field of education and employee participation in activities carried out in day care centers. Based on the research results, the last part of the work proposes recommendations for practices. There is a demonstration of work using the staging method and applying the principles of experiential learning. Dehumanization as a risk factor for the use of digital technologies in the context of social work

The thesis deals with the threat of dehumanization when applying digital technologies and robotics into social work. The work focuses on the history and origin of digital technologies within the context of social changes. It explores the basic rules governing elementary functioning and development of digital technologies and robotics. The thesis describes and summarizes basic information about the possibilities and risks of using digital technologies and robotics within social work. Towards the end it also includes opinions of several professional and political authorities who are active in this topic. This thesis aims to trigger the debate over the possible threats connected to dehumanization of social work and the use of digital technologies and robotics, respectively make it more intensive.
Dependency in the interpersonal relationship social worker - client

The thesis deals with the connection of motivation of social workers to the helping profession with addiction in interpersonal relationship of social worker and client. The thesis defines basic terms such as helping, altruism, egoism, helping profession, motivation to help, relationship, dependence in interpersonal relationship, selfreflection, supervision. The general description is illustrated by simple examples of the practice of social workers of the regional charity and of the staff of the Social and Legal Protection of Children, namely in the area of motivation and addiction. The aim of this work is to point out the necessity of knowledge of unconscious motives to help and support social workers in the form of psychohygiene and supervision.
