Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders
Plavcová, Pavla ; Felcmanová, Lenka (advisor) ; Němec, Zbyněk (referee)
In diploma thesis named "Comparison of the practicing methods of initial reading and writing in relation to the specific learning disorders" we are trying to find out if the implementation of one of three methods of teaching to read and write - analytic synthetic method, genetic method or Sfumato eliminates the development of specific learning disabilities - dyslexia, disgraphia and disorthographia. The first part of work looks into theoretical outcomes of each method of teaching to read and write and defines specific learning disabilities. In the second part of work methods of teaching to read and write depending on specific learning disabilities development are compared and evaluated based on results of questionnaires, interviews and observation.
Reading comprehension of pupils in the second grade of elementary school
Kulhavá Vlachová, Lenka ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Špačková, Klára (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to assess the reading comprehension of pupils in the second grade of elementary school. This work focuses on possible existence of differences in reading comprehension of children taught using analytic-synthetic and genetic method. The content of this thesis is also a reading self-evaluation of these students. The theoretical part acquaints readers with the main topics related to the issue, with the help of available literature sources. It focuses particularly on issues of literacy, reading, reading comprehension, reading teaching methods, self-evaluation of reading, reader environment or reading diagnostics. Due to the research goals, for the practical part, quantitative methodology was used. The test battery includes two tests of reading comprehension and self-assessment questionnaire. Examination "We're going on a trip" is taken from a research project Reading comprehension- typical development and its risk. Other used methods are test "Hedgehog" and "Questionnaire reading for pupils in second year". These methods were created under the project Development of the reading literacy competencies in the inclusive education. The research sample includes 155 children attending the second grade of primary school (66 taught analytic-synthetic reading method and 89 genetic...
Readership of pupils taught by the genetic method
Ryšková, Julie ; Hausenblas, Ondřej (advisor) ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (referee)
112 ABSTRACT This thesis explores the influence of so called "genetic method of initial reading learning" for further readership of children in the third class of elementary school. The aim of this thesis is to compare children's results in individual monitored elements at both children taught earlier by so called "analytic-synthetic method" and those taught by the "genetic method" monitoring the impact of both methods on these results. The data obtained has been linked with the effects brought by individual teachers. Subsequently, proposals for each of the monitored classes were presented to optimize the reading skills development. The theoretical part contains the topics that are closely related to children's reading skills development. The practice part is based on the research leading to the fulfillment of the thesis objectives. A questionnaire for children and teachers was used as the main source of data. The conclusion summarizes the thesis learnings and points out its results showing positive impacts of "genetic method" combined with specific activities used by the teacher. In the conclusion, I refer also to the steps for further reading skills development proposed for each of the classes monitored, which can become an inspiration for all teachers who care about the children's reading.
Comprehension of reaging
Rabenhauptová, Lucie ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Špačková, Klára (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused to the reading comprehension of the second class pupils at a primary school. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part presents the basic concepts of mapping the issues, such as reading, literacy, reading comprehension; there are also introduced the educational methods (the analytic-synthetic and genetic) and the diagnostic techniques for determining the grade of the reading comprehension in pedagogical-psychological counseling. The ending of this part was dedicated the project Three-level model of care and the results of diagnostic screenings of reading analyzed in the works of P. Barešová (2009, 2010). The target of the practical part was the analysis of resulst of the second class pupils from new created Test of reading comprehension (Pokorná, Wolfová, Kucharská, in Kucharská, 2011). Three types of tasks (such as labeling borders words, fill in missing words in the text and making decision of the claims, whether they are true, in relation to the picture). The data collection was made in the project - Three-level model of care carried out by IPPP ČR (There was involved 345 pupils from 7 primary schools from three parts of Czech Republic - Prague, Central and South Bohemian Region and Moravia). The conducted analysis of...
Analysis of the written products of the pupils taughts by the analytic-syntetic method and the genetic method during the first grade
Veverková, Jana ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Sotáková, Hana (referee)
This diploma thesis is focused to the writing skills in an initiatory education of a literacy during the first grade at a primary school. The thesis is divided into the theoretical and the practical part. The theoretical part presents the genesis of the handwriting during the history, the physical and psychical expectations for the assumption of the writing skills, the methodics of two learning methods which are used in the czech education system most frequently and last but not least a list of the evaluated scales of handwriting. In the practical part we present the evaluation scale which were constructed for the purpose of this thesis. This scale monitors a plot of the written children's products, an error rate, an ability of corections and a graphical part. We kept at disposal about 500 written children's products which were collected from 22 classes from 9 schools from three parts of Czech Republic (Prague, Central and South Bohemian Region and Moravia). Children which were involved to the project, they were educated by the analytic-synthetic method or the genetic metod for the education of the literacy. The gained data was a part of the another project which were realized under the auspices of IPPP CR. The data was collected twice a one school year. Therefore we can observe a development of...
Development of reading skills of pupils taught by analytic-syntetic and genetic method
Barešová, Pavlína ; Kucharská, Anna (advisor) ; Sotáková, Hana (referee)
Literacy as a knowledge of the written form of a language has nowadays an essential meaning for casual and successful function in the society. Nowadays, to be able to read and write is a must and mastering these abilities is considered as a matter of fact not as an extraordinary ability. The necessity of the functional literacy together with a demand on high level of the society intelligence lays considerable requirements on the child population. That results in a need for a higher effort to carry out measures which could lead to a reduction of number of children who are in danger of reading and writing malfunctions and reduction of bad readers. This dissertation is tied to my previous theses (2009 and 2010) in which I focused on finding the level of reading skills of pupils taught by analytic-synthetic method (hereafter as AS method) and genetic method (hereafter as G method) for the first time at the half of the first school year, for the second time at the end of the first school year and surveying differences in a progress of reading in a connection to the method of teaching. Moreover, I was dealing with difficulties and a progress of difficulties of reading and a way of reading of so called "problematic" pupils, i.e. pupils who started to have difficulties with reading during the period above...
