The development of football coach Pavel Vrba's media image

This bachelor's thesis deals with the development of Pavel Vrba's media image between 2011 and 2022. Pavel Vrba is one of the historically most successful Czech football coaches. In 2011, Vrba led football club FC Viktoria Plzeň to its historic first title in the top Czech division. Two years later, however, he used the exit clause in his contract in Plzeň and became the head coach of the Czech national football team. In the following years, his career was affected by several ups and downs, which may have had a significant effect on the presentation of his person in the media. How Vrba's media image developed and changed in six selected periods of his professional career is exactly what we will try to find out in this bachelor's thesis. The work is divided into theoretical, methodological and research part. The first of them defines the media image and representation as well as the concept of framing, describes the relationship between the media and sports, introduces the history of sports journalism and also the career of Pavel Vrba. The methodological part presents the aim of the work and the research method, defines the research sample and presents the six monitored periods in more detail. Ukraine War Through the Eyes of Czech Reporters

The bachelor's thesis deals with war reporting from the war in Ukraine and its specifics through the eyes of Czech reporters who were present in the country themselves. The objective is to look at the work of journalists in this armed conflict from their viewpoint because they are the most knowledgeable on the topic and they deal with war reporting long-term and comprehensively. Based on the data obtained, the work aims to clarify what obstacles the reporters encountered during reporting and what caused them. The research - semi-structured in-depth interviews - was analyzed using the grounded theory method. In the form of interviews, the insights of six reporters who reported on the war in the period of February- August 2022 are put into context. At the end of the work, the main obstacles that journalists encountered while reporting on this war are stated, as well as the proposal of possible solutions of how they can be eliminated in the future.

Praktická část bakalářské práce se zaměří na aplikaci teoretických poznatků v rámci kvalitativní analýzy vybraných odborných textů.
Intertextuality of celebrity politician exemplified by Volodymyr Zelenskyy and his role in TV series Servant of the People

This bachelor thesis explores the connection between the image of the president in the Ukrainian TV series Servant of the People and the real presidential candidate Volodymyr Zelenskyy, because it was him who played the role of the president in the aforementioned TV show. The aim is to find out whether the film character Vasyl Goloborodko had the potential to contribute to Zelenskyy's election campaign and to what extent the examined figures coincide and differ. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the phenomenon of the television series, the Servant of the People series itself, specifically the plot, cast, audience response and criticism of the series in relation to Zelenskyy's candidacy in the elections, and also introduces the connection between celebrities and politics, explaining the concept of celebrity politician and its academic categorization. The research part examines the figure of Vasyl Goloborodko in selected episodes of the series and Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the video content of his election campaign through qualitative content analysis. This diploma thesis is dedicated to the media construct of the socially serious phenomenon of child abuse on the Internet in the context of the documentary Caught in the Net. The thesis aims to determine how the media reflect this issue and which aspects are accentuated. In the theoretical part of the thesis, serious social problems related to the phenomenon of child abuse on the Internet are summarized. Furthermore, the topic is placed in the context of new media, and terms such as media discourse or agenda setting are being defined here. In addition to the description of the applicable legislation related to the issue, the theoretical part of the work also contains a summary of previous studies and already implemented research investigations related to the phenomenon of child abuse. The document Caught in the Net is also briefly described. In the practical and analytical part of the work, the effort was devoted to the actual implementation of the research investigation and the subsequent evaluation and interpretation of the data found. Online harassment among male and female journalists in Nepal and its impact on their work

Online harassment of journalists is a growing concern worldwide as more journalists report burnouts, fatigue and desire to quit journalism. This research was based on in-depth interviews of five male and five female Nepali journalists. It aimed at investigating the forms of online harassment journalists face in Nepal, the impacts it has on them and the strategies they employ to deal with it. It was of research interest to examine differences in harassment experiences of male and female journalists. Results showed the common forms of harassment journalists face are cyberstalking, sexual harassment, gendered harassment, manipulation and intimidation. Due to this, journalists decreased social media usage and self-censored themselves on it. It led to fears of physical harm, judgement and being discredited. Most interviewed journalists ignored it considering it a part of their job. Complaining about harassment bore no positive results. Women from the sample faced comparatively more sexual and gendered harassment, with harassment being more personal and of higher intensity. This had adverse impacts on some female interviewees leading them to quit social media and the profession altogether, which further increases gender gap in the heavily male-dominated industry.
