Influence of perceived difficulty on the origin of misconceptions in geography tuition: occurance and genesis of selected misconceptions
Cimová, Tereza ; Marada, Miroslav (advisor) ; Knecht, Petr (referee) ; Baarová, Barbara (referee)
The dissertation thesis deals with two related researches - pupils' and teachers' perception of the geography content matter difficulty as a factor determing the occurence of misconceptions and qualitative research aimed at revealing the origin of selected misconcepts. The first part of the research is based on the assumption that the incidence of misconceptions will be higher with an increasing perceived difficulty of the content. First, the study examines the percieved difficulty of geographical topics by pupils and teachers. Then, a didactic test verifies the occurrence of misconceptions in topics selected on the basis of perceived difficulty by pupils and teachers. This part of the thesis also includes a discussion of the definition of the difficulty concept. Author defined the difficulty by three dimensions: cognitive difficulty, subjectively perceived difficulty of the subject matter and motivation to learn. The results indicate that students perceive the difficulty more "realistically" in accordance with the assumption that they will solve easy questions with higher success. In turn, the teachers' estimate corresponds to the occurrence of expected misconceptions. A higher success rate was recorded when teachers and students agreed on the difficulty (including difficult topics). There are...

The bachelor's thesis "Student activation in relation to group work in biology lessons" discusses the essence of student activation and the importance of group work with elements of cooperation. The work contains the definition of activation, active learning, group cooperation and work in it. It gives examples of models and methods supporting student activation, which are also suitable for group work in biology lessons. Among other things, it points to the use of these models and methods as support in schools in the post-covid period. Didactic game as a way to open the world of geometry
Malcová, Michaela ; Jirotková, Darina (advisor) ; Tůmová, Veronika (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to explore thinking processes of pupils when solving problems of geometric manipulative environment Parquets. I elaborated this environment Parquets and stated characteristic tasks. I have also described, in what mental schemes of mathematical concepts solving tasks may contribute. I made use of pupil's life experiences with the game Ubongo in the presentation of the environment for them. The diploma thesis is presenting the ideas of the constructivist approach to teaching mathematics. Necessary relevant theoretical concepts are defined in the theoretical part. The experiment with third grade, who attended the Math's club is the basis of this diploma thesis. Video recordings were transcribed in the form of a written report and these were analyzed in the aim of diagnosing and describing phenomena that are related to discussions of pupils, their cooperation within the group and the development of mathematical experience, knowledge, skills and abilities of the student, but also the personality and social competences. In the analysis I also pay attention to the role of the experimenter, who was also in the role of a teacher. In conclusion, I made recommendations that could improve the lesson.
Czech Catholic poets in the lessons of literature at high schools
Dolejší, Pavel ; Klumparová, Štěpánka (advisor) ; Hník, Ondřej (referee)
The purpose of this thesis is to examine methods, forms, and processes for presenting the lives and work of the Czech catholic poets Jan Zahradníček, Bohuslav Reynek, and Josef Kostohryz during high-school literature lessons. Furthermore, the objective is to propose ways of introducing the young generation of readers to catholic poetry as a source of existentialist questions pertaining to life and existence, deep personal experiences, and spirituality regardless of their individual religious beliefs and preferences. Since this thesis is primarily intended to serve as a tool for high-school teachers, the text contains an extensive section that describes the general aspects of the proposed didactic approach, where the aim is to facilitate orientation in the proposed concept on the one hand, and, on the other hand, to define the foregoing aspects because they constitute the basis of the concept. The concept chosen as a means for achieving the objectives of the thesis is based on the principles, teaching methods, and forms of innovative learning. Innovative learning is based on the constructivist model and on an approach to teaching literature that is based on readership, interpretation, and creativity, where focus concentrates on the active and independent work of students, receptive and productive...
Death in the media discourse: the case of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane
Brezík, František ; Švelch, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Hladík, Radim (referee)
The diploma thesis "Death in media discourse: the case of the missing Malaysia Airlines plane" inquires into the case of the disappeared flight MH370 from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The flight has been mapped in Czech press as well as online newspapers from the perspective of death based on a subjectively composed qualitative method of grounded theory and discourse analysis. In the unprecedented tragical event, death is being constructed in a specific way in the context of media discourse. Hence, the allegoric character of epistemology and constructivist paradigm plays an important role here. The theoretic reflection describes the context of the relation between media and the topic of death. The abundance of topics in media associated with death is considered a symptom of a particular demand from society. The media increase the general tolerance towards images of death and violence, thus impacting character of such displays. In the reflection of the mental background, the character of perceiving death in a secularised society is denoted as metaphorical. In the research part of the thesis, discursive patterns are introduced. From them, we may understand what values associated with death are socially important and in what way does death appear and construct itself in the media. What is important here...
Introduction into the topic of sequences at the secondary school of book culture in a motivating way
Bay, Petra ; Vondrová, Naďa (advisor) ; Kvasz, Ladislav (referee)
The aim of the thesis is to present the potential of constructivist approaches to teach sequences at high school, with special attention to the problems leading to generalisation. You will read about critical points in the process of generalisation which occurred in TIMSS and PISA international studies and which were examined in the teaching experiment. The question of motivation to learn mathematics is an essential part of this thesis as well as it is an essential part of constructivist approaches to teaching. Two chapters at the beginning analyze school curricular documents, science articles, school textbooks and TIMSS and PISA international studies which formed the theoretical frame of the teaching experiment. The teaching experiment is based on Hejný's theory of generic models and on constructivist approaches to teaching which are introduced in the third chapter. Chapter four which describes the teaching experiment and pre-experiment is the main part of the thesis. It brings inspiration how to deal with the critical points in the process of generalisation and how to motivate pupils to learn mathematics. Key words sequence, generalisation, mathematisation, motivation, approaches to teaching, constructivism
Application of the Innovative Teaching Methods in Education at Primary School
Kozibratková, Karolína ; Poche Kargerová, Jana (advisor) ; Stará, Jana (referee)
My master's thesis with a title Possible Applications of Innovative Methods for Reading Literacy Development in Elementary School is aimed at the critical thinking methods. These methods lead pupils in elementary school to a development of reading literacy. The theoretical part of my work provides an overview of the curriculum reform and the following changes in learning. The terms teacher, innovation, pedagogical constructivism and reading literacy are explained. The key competences of primary education are described, because their development and fulfilment are important goals of education. Furthermore, the educational programme Reading & Writing for Critical Thinking and the three-phase model of learning with its phases learning, awareness and evocation with emphasis on methods supporting a reading literacy of pupils are narrated. The methods of critical thinking supporting reading literacy of pupils are examined in the practical part of my work. The action research with help of an observation method is used in order to evaluate the impact of the critical thinking methods on the development of key competences and level of reading literacy of pupils. The research was conducted at the elementary school, where no innovative methods of critical thinking are used. Key words: teacher, constructivism,...
