Assessing the effect of the structural design on the value of the structure within its life cycle
Hrdlička, Tomáš ; Korytárová, Jana (referee) ; Schneiderová Heralová, Renáta (referee) ; Cupal, Martin (advisor)
The dissertation focuses on a much-discussed topic in the field of construction of houses and the choice of material base of houses. The research is motivated by the fundamental question of whether wood-based houses (wooden buildings) are cheaper or more expensive than brick-based houses. The two most frequently used material bases are therefore subjected to a series of analyzes, both in terms of acquisition and investment costs, respectively, and in terms of life cycle costs focused to structures. At the same time, attention is paid to other pricesetting factors that significantly affect the investment costs of houses. Based on the analysis of a database containing 1.520 houses, the material base appears to be a variable that has a very small effect on the costs, and this difference can often be overshadowed by other variables such as the size of the family house, the amount of floors, heating, etc. At the same time, the work verifies the relevance of commonly used methods of cost valuation of houses (price indicators, cost method according to the price regulation 441/2013 Coll., as amended) in comparison with investment costs determined on the basis of market data. There was found high deviation. The analysis of selected phases of the life cycle of family houses points to higher costs associated with structures during the entire life cycle of wooden buildings. Specifically, the difference is on average 6.1 %.

Rathová, Karolina ; Vařeková, Jitka (advisor) ; Strnad, Pavel (referee)
Title: The utilization of the elements of the Feldenkrais method in an individual with a headache. Objectives: The aim of this thesis was to assess the effect of exercising certain elements of the Feldenkrais method on individuals suffering from long-term headaches. Four exercise units containing elements of the Feldenkrais method have been created and evaluated with the aim of reducing the frequency and intensity of headaches and improving the range of motion of the cervical spine. Methods: The methodology of the work was a mixed research in the form of a quasi- experiment. The observed set consisted of 13 persons suffering from headaches - 12 females, 1 male, aged from 21 to 38 years old (average of 30,3 years). The research part of the thesis focused on assessing the impact of 8 weeks of doing exercises with elements of the Feldenkrais method on the range of motion of the cervical spine, and the intensity and frequency of headaches. The intervention consisted of exercising in the subjects' home environment twice a week for a duration of 8 weeks according to individually designed plans containing elements of the Feldenkrais method. The means of data collection were kinesiological examination (especially for the range of motion of the cervical spine), standardized questionnaires, anamnestic and...

Ve studii byly dále hodnoceny audiologické charakteristiky dětí a mladistvích trpících tinnitem různé etiologie a porovnány s obdobnými vyšetřeními u kontrolní skupiny stejně starých dobrovolníků. U jednotlivých pacientů nebyla nalezena korelace mezi původem tinnitu a výsledky audiometrických testů, tj. tónovým audiogramem a výsledky záznamu evokovaných otoakustických emisí (TEOAE a DPOAE). Byl zjištěn pouze významně nižší výskyt SOAE (44,6 % uší) u mladých pacientů s tinnitem v porovnání s 62,5% uší v kontrolní skupině dětí a mladistvých. Nicméně byla pozorována silná závislost amplitud a frekvenčních charakteristik TEOAE a DPOAE na stupni sluchové ztráty bez ohledu na zdroj tinnitu. SUMMARY Experimental part Mechanisms of age-related hearing loss were studied in two rat strains. In aged...

Players of scrum most suffered lacerations, but attackers and scrumhalves/flyhalves injury of the head/brain. The overall average duration of treatment was 6.6 weeks. According to various positions: attackers 8 weeks, players of scrum 6.1 weeks and scrumhalf/flyhalf 5.4 weeks. The most injuries occur during defensive tackling (43%) and attacking (31%). Most injuries according to anatomical structure were on head...
Comparison of Fully Software and Hardware Accelerated XML Processing
Knap, Tomáš ; Holubová, Irena (advisor) ; Nečaský, Martin (referee)
The aim of this work is to compare XML processing abilities of standard software solutions and hardware accelerated scenarios using a new generation of XML processing appliances. The emphasis is puts on the speed of processing XML documents and on the demandingness of various operations over XML data. Firstly, we describe the used XML technologies and corresponding implementations in Java. Consequently, we characterize the core parts of our testing frameworks - IBM WebSphere DataPower Integration Appliance XI50 for hardware accelerated and IBM WebSphere Application Server 6.1 for standard XML processing. Further, the testing hierarchy involving two distinct testing suites - "Flat" and "Onion"- and tens of testing scenarios are defined. The "Flat" testing suite covers parsing, validating, transforming, and securing operations over XML data applied individually to a wide range of testing data, without bothering with concurrency. On the other hand, the "Onion" testing suite is a stress test combining several operations together. Both testing suites are executed on our testing framework and several measures (such as throughput) are collected and analyzed using n-dimensional OLAP cubes. The results show under which circumstances the appliance for hardware accelerated XML processing is worth using on and quantify...
Tobacco Dependence Treatment and Depressive Disorder. Treatment Outcomes in Patients with Depression History
Štěpánková, Lenka ; Králíková, Eva (advisor) ; Šteflová, Alena (referee) ; Tuček, Milan (referee)
Success rate of tobacco dependence treatment among patients with and without a history of depression Introduction: Higher prevalence of smoking among depressive patients, as well as higher risk of depression in smokers, are well documented. Views on treatment of tobacco dependence in this subgroup of smokers are controversial. Aim: A/ To compare the abstinence rate among smokers with or without a history of depression receiving treatment for nicotine dependence at one year follow up. B/ Factors associated with treatment success were evaluated and analysed. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 1 730 smokers treated at our Centre for Tobacco-Dependent (CTD) between 2005 and 2010 was conducted. Patients were treated with a combination of psychobehavioural interventions and pharmacotherapy (nicotine replacement therapy, varenicline, bupropion or combinations). At one year follow-up smoking abstinence was biochemically validated by measuring expired CO. Results: 16.7 % (289/1730) of smokers currently, or had formerly, received treatment for depression. Based on the average Fagerström Test of Nicotine Dependence (FTND), most patients with a history of depression were heavily nicotine dependent with a score of 6.1, compared to 5.6 (p=0.010) among those without a history of depression. The CO validated success rate...

Title: Moment tensors of the largest events of the 2016 Central Italy earthquake sequence Author: Martin Labuta Department: Institute of Hydrogeology, Engineering Geology and Applied Geophysics Supervisor: doc. RNDr. František Gallovič, Ph.D., Department of Geophysics, Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, Charles University Abstract: Central Italy was stuck by an earthquake sequence in 2016, with the largest earthquake of moment magnitude Mw 6.5. 300 people have died after the first earthquake on August 24th, Mw 6.1 and the city Amatrice was heavily damaged. Utilizing the software ISOLA, the low-frequency centroids are found of selected earthquakes with Mw above 4.5. Using these results, the multiple point finite seismic sources are obtained in order to determine fault irregularities. Afterwards, there is a comparison of these results with other academic papers and earthquake catalogs. Keywords: earthquake, ISOLA, moment tensor, centroid

Title: Level and degree of association of selected motor abilities, motor skills in football players category U6. Objectives: The aim of the research is to identify the level of the selected motor abilities, motor skills and motor docility and to determine the degree of association between these performance components in football players category U6. Methods: The research group (n = 52; age = 6.1 ± 0.3 years) consisted of football players of SK Slavia Praha Youth Academy. The participants completed one-time test battery which consisted of motor docility tests (IOWA- BRACE test), five tests of the motor abilities (5m and 10m linear running acceleration, 5m flying maximum speed, standing long jump, 4x10m shuttle run) and two tests of the specific football skills (4x10m shuttle run with a ball, slalom skills test). The degree of association was determined via Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The part with the results provides information on the level of the players' motor abilities, motor skills based on the values obtained through performed tests. The statistically significant degree of association was found between all tests across the entire test battery except for one pair (long jump from place x shuttle run with a ball). Materially significant, medium to very strong correlation r =...
