Evaluative Language in Electronic Product Reviews

This thesis will focus on the evaluative language in mobile phones reviews. For this purpose, review of Apple iPhone 7 is going to be used. Apple company has wide portfolio of products, such as computers, TVs, tablets, watches or mp3 players. Phones are still one of the most popular products. For this reason, phone reviews are perfect source for this thesis. The main purpose is to analyse and demonstrate the means of advertising in the field of corporate discourse and unveil the strategies and tools to influence the reader, appealing on emotions, morals and aesthetic perception. I suspect that reviews are rather biased to due to the used form of language, which might contain personal opinions of the author or methods of manipulation with the reader. These methods may be deployed in the text stylisation, appealing on the reader´s emotions and social background or in the decision making about providing certain information. This thesis is going to verify whether this statement is true or false.
Instant Replay Technology and Its Effect on Game Sports

It describes instant replay technologies used in football, basketball, American football and its effect on game matches. In the end, it focuses on whether these technologies improved game sports or made things worse.
Commented translation of a text on science and technology

The aim of this bachelor thesis is a translation of a technical text from Czech to the English language and comment on the aspects of the translation and its problems. The chosen text is an electronic textbook, distributed on e-learning and used by the Brno University of Technology solely for educational purposes on the microelectronics field. Theoretical part presents the translation theory, its processes, procedures and types. It also contains a description of the functional styles, especially the style of science and technology. The practical part is represented by the translation of the first two chapters - Introduction and the CMOS technology. The final – analytical part contains the commentary on various issues from different linguistic perspectives.
Promotion of the study programme English in Electrical Engineering and Informatics by means of leaflets: language of advertising in practice

The main aim of this thesis is to provide an overview of advertising discourse and classification of advertising and to introduce the English in Electrical Engineering and Informatics study programme. The first chapter of the thesis provides a brief summary of linguistic principles used within the advertising discourse. The emphasis is placed on syntax, morphology and vocabulary. The next chapter deals with advertising itself. It provides an analysis of advertising based on many factors. This chapter also describes the impact of advertising on the contemporary world. The last two chapters are dedicated to the description of the English in Electrical Engineering and Informatics study programme.

Let There Be Light? Impact of Light Pollution on the Environment

Light pollution is one of many types of pollution that threaten our planet. The main reason for its creation is the fact that light pollution is a side effect of industrial civilization. The adverse effects of light pollution can have a serious impact on human health, wildlife and climate. The aim of this bachelor’s thesis is to define the concept of light pollution, describe means of its measurement and its adverse effects. The theoretical part of this thesis deals with defining what the light pollution is and it describes how it is manifested. Furthermore, possibilities of how light pollution can be measured are discussed. Subsequently, impacts on human health, wildlife, economy, safety, and astronomy are described and discussed. Towards the end, common light sources used for public lighting and their parameters are defined. Lastly, basic practices that help to reduce light pollution are presented with examples of correctly designed luminaires for outdoor lighting. The practical part of the thesis is concerned with quantitative research, whose purpose was to identify the level of awareness of light pollution among the general public. The data were gathered by means of the questionnaire survey.

This bachelor thesis focuses on the survey of unmanned aerial vehicles, often referred as drones, and its impact and technological progress in the field of electronic communications. It explains a basic definition of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and presents some examples of current types of vehicles. Moreover, this thesis analyzes the cultural and social appearance of using UAVs in everyday life. Furthermore, it discusses future steps in the field of UAVs and its stable position in life.

This bachelor thesis deals with terms Event management, Communication strategies and Planning. The thesis is divided into four chapters. The first chapter defines words event and management and, subsequently, explains the meaning of the whole term. The second chapter is concentrated on the Planning, its principles and methods. The third chapter is concerned with Communication strategies, business emails and letters and the effective language of advertising. The last chapter is practical and, based on the principles on Planning, focuses on their working in practise and the teambuilding event is used for a demonstration. .
Elektronické cigarety a jak je vnímá okolí

Tato práce je zaměřena jak na kuřáky elektronických, tak i konvenčních cigaret. Účelem této práce je představit a popsat elektronickou cigaretu, její části a porovnat její škodlivost oproti cigaretě konvenční, zejména v aktuální situaci, kdy kouření na veřejnosti není tak oblíbené. Na základě zjištěných údajů je patrné, že se elektronické cigarety snaží upevnit svou pozici na trhu sice poměrně krátkou dobu, ale zatím úspěšně.
Advanced systems of Li-Ion accumulators

With the growing need for energy for portable electronics and electric vehicles, the issue of energy storage becomes increasingly important. This bachelor’s thesis provides an overview of electrochemical sources of energy, focusing on lithium-ion accumulators and the most commonly used cathode materials. It discusses the development of high-voltage cathode materials, including the system lithium-sulphur. The experimental part of this thesis describes the preparation of several cathode samples and compares their electrochemical properties.
