Cognitive Literary Analysis of Neil Gaiman's Gothic Children's Novels

This thesis pursues a cognitive literary analysis of three works of Neil Gaiman's Gothic Children's Literature - Coraline (2002), The Wolves in the Walls (2003), and The Graveyard Book (2008), arguing for their positive psychological impact on selected areas that characterize the qualitative and quantitative psycho-social development during school-age. These areas include the development of an increasingly realistic sense of self, social development, and a general improvement in cognitive and metacognitive skills. Of primary concern to the thesis will be the age group between six and twelve years of age, for practical reasons limited solely to neurocognitively normatively functioning children of the Western cultural context. A cognitive literary approach allows us to view the text not as a means of single-directional transmission but as an active, multifaceted interaction between a sensitive reader and a text constructed to maximise their engagement, suggesting that it is not primarily the epistemic value of the text but the specific stage of the reader's cognitive development which determines their engagement with the text, enhances their understanding of fictionality and helps to stimulate their cognitive activity. 'The Origin of J.R.R. Tolkien's Character; Gandalf'

This thesis aims to analyse the origin, development and possible interpretations of J.R.R. Tolkien's character of Gandalf the wizard, focusing primarily on the influence of three major sources of inspiration, suggested both by the author himself and intertextual elements recognisable in his fiction; The Bible, Norse and Finnish mythology (represented by The Poetic and The Prose Edda, Saga of the Volsungs and Kalevala) and the literary tradition centred around the legendary figure of Merlin, as well as the later works of fiction which it has inspired. The aim of the thesis is to illustrate to what extent is Tolkien's Gandalf only a continuation or adaptation of the historical literary tradition represented by the sources named above or on the contrary, an original and independent character. This discussion is aimed to demonstrate how J.R.R Tolkien's portrayal of wizard figures has not only helped to popularize the generic characterisation of wizards in fantasy fiction but helped to pioneer a new type of wizard figure. Everything stands and falls with leadership

The bachelor thesis is focused in theoretical way, with aim to clarify the issue of leadership and its importance. To focus on its individual parts and define the managing and leading people including their comparison. Subsequently on theoretical bases using own discretion, come after suggestion of the principals and tools for effective leading, which should be leaders own. Leader should acquire these tools to upgrade his abilities in leading people. First part is focused on the history of management, following part define the management in its complexity. Next part analyze the difference between the managing and leading people. The aim of third chapter is to suggest the mentioned tools and abilities. Fourth chapter is given to a new trend in leadership development. Part of this chapter is given to thought of outdated paradigms, including also the clarification of complexity leadership theory. Conclusion of the thesis is given to summary of acquired knowledges.

Analysis of the motivation of high school teachers

The thesis is concerned with issues of motivation and contentment of workers in the education sector in the Czech Republic. First, it focuses on presenting theoretical knowledge of staff motivation and contentment. In practical part we will switch-able to the analysis of the motivation of high school teachers itself, which aims to map the level of teachers' contentment in a workplace. I would also like to point out the circumstances that affect this issue, such as working environment, salary etc. The analysis was carried out in two secondary schools in Prague, in Business School Vinohradská and School of Low-tension electrical engineering in Vysočany. Respondents (teachers) were subjected to a questionnaire survey that included questions about their con-tentment in the workplace, their financial evaluation, workplace relations, employment motivation and many others. Then I did a structured interview with the director of the Business school as well as the director of the collage.

Media influence on people's life and behaior in the period of financial crisis

This thesis examines the influence of media on human behavior and experience during the economic crisis. The aim of this work is to establish views on the degree of trust people to the media on questions of economic crisis and the ratio of the impact of media on people's consciousness. The theoretical part explains the the terms mass media, describes the history of media and their types, the influence of media on social awareness and discusses the phenomenon of the crisis in Russia and the West. The practical part contains the interpretation of the result of empirical research with respect to the assumptions and decisions about if the hypotheses are consistent with the theoretical parts or different.

Analysis of Volunteer Motivation

This master's thesis deals with motivation of volunteers. The theoretical part focuses on the field of volunteering in general and also the field of motivation of volunteers. The empirical part presents results from the research that was conducted to find out what the motivation of volunteers in two non-profit organizations was. Findings were put into context and similarities and differences between the two were found. Research was based on questionnaires distributed to volunteers and in-depth interviews with the workers from both organizations. The interviews revealed the perspective of volunteer motivation from the organizations' side. Analysis of results was followed by recommendations for both organizations to improve their work with volunteers.

Intercultural Communication - Irish and Czech People

This thesis is focused on intercultural communication, especially on communication between Czech and Irish people. For basic theoretical aspects were used historical background of both countries and different theories of intercultural communication. History was always important fact in forming different cultures. Among all theories of intercultural communication were used theories of cultural dimension from Geert Hofstede and theory of cultural differences from Fons Trompenaars. Practical part is made of the research which was divided into two parts: personal and working communication. All results are also shown in graphs. Finally, there are shown possible problematic areas in communication and their solutions.

Check interventional programme for integration personalities and development health mentally affected by the help of kinetic activities in Soběslav.\\

This diploma project is engaged in attest to an interventional move programme for integration of mentally affected people. I was testing this programme once a week for five months in terms of one hour at the Special school in Soběslav. This five months running cycle was suspended by holidays. The experimental group was created with 12 pupils between 8 and 17 years old with a middle mentally handicapped from this school. Due to using the standardized tests I tried to find out whether pupils could improve their abilities in these chosen criteria of motoric competence. Children were tested before and after application of the interventional programme. For compare was used other group at basic school in Soběslav too. This group was created with 12 pupils between 10 {--} 18 years old with middle major mentally handicapped. Statistical methods were used to data evaluation .
