Reliability analysis of substance measurements using biosensors - limit of detection robust method design
Láznička, Jan ; Brno, Karel Lacina, MU (referee) ; Grosmanová, Zuzana (advisor)
Detection limit of any method is affected by device (electronics, noise), evaluation, software (timing inaccuracy, rounding mistakes, errors determination of parameters using measured values by numerical methods) and by a chemical reaction (diluting errors, the reaction mixture design, chemical interferents, temperature, the accuracy of pipetting). In this work was proposed a metod for determination of detection limit for measuring of inhibitors of acetylcholine esterase by biosensor analysator of toxicity (BTA). The analysator was developed by BVT Technologies a.s. in 2004. To determine the exact detection limit a calibration of output signal was done. Presently the analysator is able to detect only presence of toxins, not their concentration. Not least are mentioned all founded errors of software, which are continuously eliminated.
Withholding Tax Rate Elasticities of Foreign Direct Investment Outflows and Tax Revenue Consequences of Double Tax Treaties
Láznička, Jan ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Semerák, Vilém (referee)
This thesis provides a cross-country analysis of potential tax revenue losses due to the ways different countries tax over-border dividend and interest incomes of multinational enterprise. Withholding taxation of outgoing dividends and interest payments is regulated by domestic tax rules as well as bilateral double tax treaties. The signing of such a treaty might substantially reduce the tax rate levied by the source country on the outgoing passive income and thus decrease its tax revenue. We create a large panel dataset and estimate withholding tax rate elasticities of dividend and interest outflows for a large set of countries around the world. Subsequently, we use these elasticities to estimate potential tax revenue losses due to outgoing dividend and interest payments for the source countries in our dataset. The results show highly elastic dividend outflows, 2.3% - 2.58% decrease related to 1% increase in the applicable withholding tax. We also find substantial tax revenue losses due to dividend outflows for a number of source countries, the largest for Canada (1.35 - 3.19 billion USD) and the United States (2.27 - 2.94 billion USD). The investor country behind the largest part of potential losses shows up to be the Netherlands. JEL Classification F21, F23, H25, H26 Keywords double tax treaty;...
Impact of metro station proximity on apartment value in Prague
Láznička, Jan ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Hejlová, Hana (referee)
This Bachelor's thesis analyzes the relationship between the apartment prices and proximity of the metro stations in Prague. Using the apartment offer prices and apartment characteristics from the real estate agencies, empirical analysis is conducted to examine the metro closeness effect in the case of whole Prague and also different parts of the city. Moreover, the real transaction data are used to study the possible difference between the impacts on the real transaction prices and the offer prices. The results show a statistically significant positive impact of metro closeness on apartment value in the case of a Prague as a whole with 14 967 CZK apartment price decrease when moving additional 100 meters away from the station. In another approach we compare the price differences of apartments located in 250 meters wide zones from their closest metro station. The results show a value premium of 563 851 CZK and 500 691 CZK for the apartments located in the 250-500m and 500-750m zones respectively compared to the ones located more than 1 kilometer away. In the case of different parts of Prague, many different results are obtained. However, majority of them show a positive price impact of metro closeness in Prague. Selected Software Products for Simulation Modeling and its Comparison
Láznička, Jan ; Mildeová, Stanislava (advisor) ; Velehradský, Petr (referee)
A thesis deals with simulation modeling. After opening theoretic information about models, discrete and continuous simulations, computer technologies for systems modeling and individual phases of simulation process, there follows a case study, which demonstrates using of three software products for simulation modeling -- SIMUL8, Simprocess and Powersim Studio. Created models, experiments with them and given results, including well-arranged tabular comparison of mentioned computer programs according to defined criteria, point out strengths and weaknesses of each software. Simultaneously, data for selection of an appropriate program are presented, depending on a sphere type, which is simulation modeling to be applied on.
Měnící se význam a vliv informací
Láznička, Jan ; Rosický, Antonín (advisor) ; Pavlíček, Antonín (referee)
Bakalářská práce se zabývá nejprve podstatou lidského myšlení, protože právě v mozku dochází k procesům, díky kterým informace chápeme a pracujeme s nimi.
