Simultaneous confidence intervals dual to stepwise methods of multiple comparison
Moravec, Jan ; Komárek, Arnošt (advisor) ; Hlávka, Zdeněk (referee)
The central theme of this thesis is the construction of simultaneous confidence regions (SCR) corresponding to stepwise multiple comparison procedures (MCP). The first chapter is devoted to the theory of multiple comparisons, including the class of closed testing procedures which contains every MCP that strongly con- trols the familywise error rate. The second chapter is concerned with the gene- ral principle of construction of SCR corresponding to closed testing procedures. These general results are used in the third and the forth chapter for deriving the SCR corresponding to a subclass of closed testing procedures which are based on weighted Bonferroni tests. The SCR corresponding to the Holm, the Holm(W), the fixed-sequence and the fallback MCP are derived explicitly. The theoretical results are numerically illustrated on a bioequivalence study. In the fifth chapter we briefly discuss the SCR corresponding to the Hommel, the Hochberg and the step-down Dunnett MCP.
Ecology, ethology and variability of european green lizard Lacerta viridis in Natural reservation Tiché údolí
Chmelař, Jan ; Rehák, Ivan (advisor) ; Moravec, Jiří (referee)
The European green lizard, Lacerta viridis, is in the Bohemia region stated as critically endangered species. Populations in this region are located beyond the northern border of continuous range of this species and are closely related to the "riverine phenomenon", and deeply engorged river valleys. The chosen locality in Tiché údolí is a subject to a long-term conservational management aimed to strengthen and maintain abundance of the local population. This management is a direct output of a previous study of this population performed in years 1995-1997. Main goal of the presented study is to compare current population characteristics with the older study. The locality has been visited 119 times in years from 2011 to 2014. The studied population now displays higher abundance and inhabits a larger area. The author also performed a spatial analysis of the places with presence of an observed individual in order to determine and evaluate significance of the chosen abiotic factors for habitat discrimination. The results indicate that positive discrimination is based on the presence of a rock debris and a hiding place. Strongest factors towards negative discrimination were high percentages of grass and high vegetation coverage. This study also contains and discusses ecological, ethological and...
Systematics, Phylogeny and Biogeography of the gecko genus Hemidactylus (Reptilia, Gekkonidae) in Arabia and the Near East.
Šmíd, Jiří ; Moravec, Jiří (advisor) ; Kotlík, Petr (referee) ; Rehák, Ivan (referee)
(in English) Until relatively recently, the gecko genus Hemidactylus was considered to contain only several hard-to-distinguish species in the eastern Mediterranean and the Arabian Peninsula. This was mostly given by the apparent morphological uniformity of the geckos in combination with their often synanthropic lifestyle, which facilitated the dispersal of some of the species over large ranges. However, our understanding of the diversity of the genus was about to change with the onset of molecular phylogenetic methods that became extensively available and routinely applied to tackle the questions of systematics and phylogeny of all kinds of organisms. This thesis focuses on resolving the phylogeny, systematics, and biogeography of the Arabian Hemidactylus. Using an unprecedented sampling of over 500 samples of more than 40 Hemidactylus species from the eastern Mediterranean, Arabian Peninsula, Socotra, North and East Africa and Iran and sequencing up to six genes (two mitochondrial - 12S rRNA, cyt b; four nuclear - cmos, mc1r, rag1, rag2) I reconstructed the time-calibrated phylogeny of the arid clade of Hemidactylus, inferred its complex biogeographical history in the region, and detected seven potentially new species. The results of the biogeographic analyses indicate that the current...
Phylogeny of selected genera of geckos in the Mediterranean and adjacent regions
Červenka, Jan ; Kratochvíl, Lukáš (advisor) ; Moravec, Jiří (referee) ; Gvoždík, Václav (referee)
Phylogeny of selected genera of geckos in the Mediterranean and adjacent regions Jan Červenka Ph.D. thesis Abstract This Ph.D. thesis is composed of three published articles and one manuscript, and is focused on the phylogenetic relationships of selected species of geckos from the Mediterranean and surrounding areas. The group of geckos of interest shares the common characteristic of an absence of adhesive lamellas on their toes. Historically, it was assumed that these species were closely related. Molecular-phylogenetic approaches were used in order to reveal the phylogenetic relationships within this group, especially using the sequential data from mitochondrial genes. Morphological characteristics commonly used in lizards were studied in connection with the ecology of the group. This thesis provides the first more detailed view of the phylogeny of the studied species. The results show that the genus Cyrtopodion, previously considered as monophyletic, in fact is not monophyletic as the genera Bunopus and Agamura represent its inner groups. Mediodactylus, the subgenus of Cyrtopodion, forms monophylum but is not closely related to the other members of the genus and so was reclassified as the independent genus. The enigmatic and yet so far very poorly studied genus Carinatogecko was discovered to be the...
Issuance of money by the central bank and its prospect after accession to the European Monetary Union
Moravec, Jaroslav ; Karfíková, Marie (advisor) ; Kohajda, Michael (referee) ; Dřevínek, Karel (referee)
Issuance of money by the central bank and its prospect after accession to the European Monetary Union (abstract) The presented thesis analyzes the problems of issuance of money by the Central Bank in the Czech Republic. The issuance of money is analyzed particularly from the viewpoint of its legal regulation but attention is also paid to its practical implementation in the official practice of our Central Bank. The aim of the thesis is to comprehensively elaborate substantial part of the legal regulation in this area. Attention is paid particularly to applicable legal regulation but also to regulations that have been repealed in the period from establishment of the Czech Republic to the present time. This area of our day to day life has not been frequently explored and there is only minimum related financial-law literature. This, on the other hand, provides more space for the analysis of little known information from official practice. The first part of the thesis provides an overview of the history of issuance of money in our territory after 1918. Initially, it deals with the Austro-Hungarian crown currency and its banknotes and coins that had been circulating in this country after the establishment of the independent Czechoslovak state. It further analyzes the development of cash circulation of the...
Ontogeny and evolution of body size and sexual size dimorphism in reptiles
Frýdlová, Petra ; Frynta, Daniel (advisor) ; Moravec, Jiří (referee) ; Zrzavý, Jan (referee)
Monitor lizards (Varanidae) are morphologically very uniform in body shape, but much diversified in body size along both phylogenetic and ontogenetic axes. A striking sexual size dimorphism exists in monitor lizards; they are capable of fast growth, metabolism and sexual maturation. I collected the data concerning body size of particular species and verified the validity of Rench's rule, which said that there is bigger difference in body size of a conspecific male and females growing with larger body size of the species. Males are markedly bigger than females. In the next step, I focused on the model species of monitor lizards, Varanus indicus. I monitored its ontogeny very carefully. I found that this monitor lizard has pronounced sexual size dimorphism, but there are only small differences in body shape. It is capable of rapid growth and sexual maturation. The sexual dimorphism in body shape is only poor, but still measurable right in those places where the selection pressures were expected. Blood sampling monitored biochemical and haematological parameters. The concentrations of the biochemical parameters revealed the economy of resources of particular sexes partially, the costs of body growth and reproduction. Although both sexes produce the same amount of biomass (the body growth of males vs. the...
Ecology, ethology and variability of european green lizard Lacerta viridis in Natural reservation Tiché údolí
Chmelař, Jan ; Rehák, Ivan (advisor) ; Moravec, Jiří (referee)
The european green lizard, Lacerta viridis is a critically endangered reptile species which is in the region of Bohemia present only in relict isolated populations. These populations are closely linked to slopes with a southern exposition in deeply engorged river valleys. These valleys exhibit a unique climatic effect also known as the river phenomenon which allows numerous animal and plant species to survive far beyond their standard northern range. The chosen locality in Tiché údolí is a subject to long-term conservational management and the studied lizard population seems to reflect its effectiveness. This study is aimed to evaluate variability, ecological and ethological characteristics of lizards within the locality and is focused on changes on the population level. Key words: European green lizard, Lacerta viridis, Tiché údolí, river phenomenon, variability, ecology, ethology, population characteristics Abstrakt Ještěrka zelená, Lacerta viridis, je kriticky ohrožený druh plaza, který se na území Čech vyskytuje pouze v reliktních a izolovaných populacích.
Point processes on linear networks
Moravec, Jan ; Prokešová, Michaela (advisor) ; Pawlas, Zbyněk (referee)
The central theme of this thesis is the theory of point processes on linear net- works, in particular two kinds of the network K-function. The first part is devoted to the theory of stationary point processes in the plane, including the K-function and its estimator. The second part is concerned with the theory of point proces- ses on linear networks. There is defined the Okabe-Yamada network K -function and its estimator, the geometrically corrected network K-function, including its estimator, and there are explained their theoretical properties. In the third part we examine the ability of these two kinds of the network K-function to detect clustering or regularity in point processes on linear networks. There is explained the envelope test, the refined envelope test and the deviation tests. The software environment R with library spatstat is used for simulations.

Echocardiographic assessment of heart function in laboratory rats and mice
Hrdlička, Jaroslav ; Papoušek, František (advisor) ; Moravec, Jan (referee)
- 5 - Abstract Experimental cardiology deals with the study of mechanisms related to development of cardiovascular disease, risk factors and possibilities of improving heart resistance to oxygen deficiency and increased workload. Observed mechanisms and context are proved in experiments using laboratory rats and mice where its effect on the heart function is detected. Many invasive and non-invasive methods are used for that. One of the basic non-invasive methods are echocardiography of nuclear magnetic resonance, which is both technically and methodically more challenging. Echocardiography allows to evaluate the heart function and geometry in laboratory rats and mice repeatedly and in physiological conditions and minimal influence to the animal. Using echocardiography allows observing changes and effect of studied mechanisms continuously. From the range of parameters used for echocardiographic measurement some have their origin in clinical praxis and empiric nature and other are introduced to cover specific needs in the experiment. Suitability of various echocardiographic parameters for evaluating heart function in laboratory rats and mice is given by accuracy reached for this small hears, need for approximation the heart and ventricles using simple shapes and for clear context of parameter values and its...
