Long term development of life expectancy in the world
Jílková, Martina ; Novotný, Josef (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (referee)
Life expectancy has been rising since the end of the 18th century. This thesis aims to characterize its long term development with emphasis on the period after 1800, whereas the beginning periods of sustained growth and its dynamics are represented. Gains in survival began successively in individual countries, and it was found that the later the growth began, the more rapid it was. The determinants of mortality decline are set and described, as well. The attention is paid also to the relation between life expectancy and economic level. The analysis proved strong dependence of life expectancy on income in the course of the 20th century. Finally, the exceptions to this trend are discussed.

Localization factors of shopping centers: Case study of shopping centers in Prague
Hladík, Zdeněk ; Spilková, Jana (advisor) ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (referee)
Localisation of economic activities is an often debated issue in the expert literature. In particular, the factors determining the location of retail units in such a complex environment, as is the metropolitan Prague, is a very complicated process. Variance of several meters can determine the entire success or failure of the shopping center. Therefore, the first part of this thesis presents and discuss a broad range of studies and methods with different approaches to determine location analysis. The results of this thesis show the efforts of customers to minimize time and effort spent on shopping, which is just a reflection of the proximity and availability of metro station as the main localization factor in Prague's area. However, not only the location, but also the preferences of customers of specific marketing mix and characteristics affect the success of these centers. Key words: shopping center, localisation factors, Prague, metro, availability
Retail trade at Prague-Smíchov: spatial differentiation of convenience stores and prices of goods
Šebesta, Jan ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (advisor) ; Sýkora, Jan (referee)
This thesis addresses a specific type of retail units - convenience stores - in the locality of central Smíchov in Prague. The aim is to explore spatial differentiation of these stores and the prices of goods in them and to detect the link between the characteristics and price levels of convenience stores. The research was situated in a location strongly differentiated by its socioeconomic status, the physical environment and functional usage. This promises a revelation of significant and interesting outcomes. The theoretical part of the thesis focuses on the accurate definition of convenience stores and the evolution of retail in Prague with emphasis on its inner city. In the methodical part I focus on the researched area delimitation and specification and the description of the data collection and processing. The last chapter summarizes the results, which are presented mainly by maps. The work is primarily based on extensive field research and spatial data survey. The localization of the store is the main factor influencing the differentiation of convenience stores and their prices. The location on the main street is the key determinant. Spatial Aspects of Everyday Life
Pospíšilová, Lucie
The study of everyday life has become a new challenge in contemporary society. Over the last few decades there have been significant changes of temporal and spatial relationships, which now come in many different forms, some of which are relatively new phenomena (e.g. virtual relationships). The society differentiates also socially and culturally. People with different attitudes and values, habits and behaviours, people of different lifestyles meet at one place and encounter everyday lives of others. These facts demonstrate the importance of everyday life research. Everyday life is routine and self-evident for a man or group of people in a given space and time but otherwise it is variable and differentiated phenomenon. New issues arise in the context of contemporary changes that encourage the questioning the definitions of everyday life and also finding new methods of research. The thesis searches for the position of geography in the research of everyday life and thus contributes to the formation of a subdiscipline of geography that is not yet fully developed. Responding to approaches influenced by Time geography, which tend to reduce the daily lives of people on a path through time-space and create models of human behaviour, the thesis tries to "humanize" the path using concepts that reflect the...
Zhodnocení dopadů sucha v roce 2015 na lesní porosty na revíru Dzbel, část Zadní hory, Lesní správa Prostějov LČR
Pospíšilová, Lucie
The forests are very susceptible to the climate changes, because they are not able to adapt quickly to the changes of the environment due to their longevity. The drought belongs to the group of primary abiotic factors, which significantly affect the health condition of the stands and thus also the extent of salvage logging. This diploma thesis evaluates the impact of extreme drought in 2015 on the stands of the forest area named Zadní hory (close to the town of Dzbel, Forest administration Prostějov). The most endangered tree species is the spruce, due to it´s predominant occurrence in the mentioned area. This work should evaluate the effect of both abiotics and biotics stressors on the drougt-weakened stands and suggest the options for reduction of the damages.
THE EFFECT OF STUDENT'S MAJOR AND LOCATION OF THE SCHOOL BUILDING ON SPACE-TEMPORAL BEHAVIOR OF COLLEGE STUDENTS
Kadleček, David ; Pospíšilová, Lucie (advisor) ; Madajová, Michala (referee)
The focus of this research thesis is spatiotemporal behavior of college students. It deals with a population group best characterized by its enormous internal diversity. One of the causes of the diversity within this group is academic life itself. It places different demands on each individual student and the intensity of their work load varies over the course of an academic year, specifically the winter semester. It results in blatant differences in spatiotemporal behavior of the students in different stages of the semester, the winter break, and the exam period. This research describes these differences and points out the effect of long-time research. As one of the milestones in a young person's life, their studies affect many other aspects of their daily lives. In some instances, their spaciotemporal behavior unifies in others it differs or even acts as a limiting factor. The thesis is interesting methodologically as the movement tracking of communication partners was conducted via a smartphone app which is one of the newer methods enabled recently by the boom of information and communication technologies. An evaluation of benefits as well as limits of this method compared to the older and more traditional diary method is included in the results of the thesis. Key words: students, spaciotemporal...
