Na konci 18. století začala naděje dožití ve světě stoupat a stále roste. Tato práce charakterizuje její dlouhodobý vývoj s důrazem na období po roce 1800, přičemž jsou přiblíženy začátky soustavného růstu a jeho dynamika. Naděje dožití se začínala zvyšovat v jednotlivých zemích postupně a bylo zjištěno, že čím později růst začal, tím byl rychlejší. Dále jsou stanoveny a popsány příčiny, které vedly ke snižování úmrtnosti. Pozornost je věnována také vztahu mezi nadějí dožití a ekonomickou úrovní. Provedená analýza potvrdila silnou závislost střední délky života na výši příjmu v průběhu 20. století. Na závěr jsou diskutovány některé odchylky od nalezeného trendu. Life expectancy has been rising since the end of the 18th century. This thesis aims to characterize its long term development with emphasis on the period after 1800, whereas the beginning periods of sustained growth and its dynamics are represented. Gains in survival began successively in individual countries, and it was found that the later the growth began, the more rapid it was. The determinants of mortality decline are set and described, as well. The attention is paid also to the relation between life expectancy and economic level. The analysis proved strong dependence of life expectancy on income in the course of the 20th century. Finally, the exceptions to this trend are discussed.
