The Death of the Female Protagonists in The Awakening, "The Yellow Wallpaper" and The House of Mirth, and Its Realistic Foundations.

Thesis abstract This thesis analyzes the theme of death not only as the internal struggle of a certain individual, but follows its development with respect to society and the pressure that society places on the individual in question. The main foci of the analysis are Kate Chopin"s The Awakening, Edith Wharton"s The House of Mirth, and Charlotte Perkins Gilman"s "The Yellow Wallpaper". Literary typology is emphasized as a tool for creating contrasts in specific conceptions of the deaths of the women protagonists, and for facilitating an understanding of the basic framework of the individual novels. Chopin, Wharton and Gilman conceptualize death, as a complex phenomenon, in a broad perspective, not perceiving it exclusively as an end to physical existence but also as a reflection of the struggle between, on the one hand, external elements that are social, economic and familial in nature, and on the other, the sum of internal elementspredispositions, wants, imaginations and ideals. The thesis analyzes the impact that this struggle has on the perception of the heroines' own identities. The erosion of their original identity and the effort to cope with the problem is not only a direct precursor of a "traditional" death but also allows an understanding of this phase as "metaphorical" death. The diploma deals with suicidal and self - harm tendencies at children and adolescents who were institutionalized. The theoretical part deals with characteristic of suicidal tendencies and self harm tendencies, their division and determination, Next the diploma focuses on suicidal tendencies and self harm tendencies with children and adolescents, the presentation and the ways how to help these persons. The practical part applies directly to the problems of suicidal and self harm tendencies at children and adolescents who are institutionalized. By means of the questionaries I found out the current situation of these issues in various types of educational institutions and their differences.
It is ethical to kill himself?

The thesis deals with a problem whether it is ethical to end one´s own life. It reflects various situations where life is at stake, such as suicide, self-killing, martyrdom and euthanasia. The thesis is structured to reflect individual phenomena. In the same time, it opines about suicide problems from a point of view of social work and it describes how an individual with suicidal tendencies can be helped.

Prevention of suicide as a new task of Christian educators In my bachelor thesis I will deal with the phenomenon of suicide, its prevention and the importance of Christian education in it. I will identify the term of a Christian educator and suicide itself. I will describe the theory of self-destructive behaviour according to the medical (psychiatric), sociological and psychological aspects. I will also describe the various types and subtypes of suicide and their various causes. Of course, I will focus on the relationship of Christianity to suicide. Another chapter will discuss the prevention of suicidal action, prevention programs and targeted intervention. At the end of my work I will try to summarize the scientific knowledge and my own opinions on this difficult and basically not clearly definable issues.

Veronika Konopásková Schizophrenia: Impact on quality of life Annotation The goal of the thesis is to understand the impact of schizophrenia on quality of life of the patient. Schizophrenia is defined and its most common forms and symptoms are presented. I describe the origin, course and prognosis of the disease. I focus on the concept of relapse and suicide risk in patients with schizophrenia. Treatise on the treatment is divided into psychosocial and biological methods. I deal with the concept of Quality of life in general and in connection with schizophrenia. I discuss the problem of stigmatization of the mentally ill patients. The example of three selected organizations (Baobab, ESET-HELP, DPS "Ondřejov") illustrates the wide range of psychosocial rehabilitation programs offered for mentally ill. To capture authentically all aspects of life with schizophrenia, I conducted three in-depth interviews with persons diagnosed with schizophrenia. The Approach of Children Helplines Consultants toward suicidal Clients

The purpose of this thesis is to introduce the problem of suicidal behavior of children, adolescents and young adults as well as the kind of work with such people in telephone crisis intervention. The theoretical part is based primarily on literature written by Czech as well as foreign authors. It describes the phenomenon of suicide, forms and kinds of suicidal behavior with the focus on the influence of developmental characteristics to a suicidal crisis within the above mentioned focus group. Further the specific ways of work and approach to this group of clients are mapped from the point of view of telephone intervention. The ethics of working with a client is treated as a subtheme of this thesis. The practical part studies the approach of workers in phone intervention to suicidal clients and the way workers deal with possible ethical dilemmas. A methodological approach of qualitative research with semi-structured interview was applied. Interviews were conducted with selected participants from Linka Bezpeci.
Perception of Violence against Different Age Groups of Children at Primary Schools and Eight-year Grammar School

ABSTRACT § Key words: violence, conflict, aggression, cruelty, abuse, neglect, bullying, the perpetrator, the victim, children, adults, seniors, self-harm, suicide In this thesis I would like to focus on how children define violence, what violence includes, how to represent both the offender and victim, what is the difference in the perception of violence against various age groups and how to prevent possible violence. The theoretical part is firstly devoted to the notion of violence or similar terms synonymous to this and to explain them according to Czech and foreign authors. I have then proceeded to topics such as violence against children, adults and seniors, self-harm, suicide and the consequences of violence. In the practical section, I examined the perception of violence among students in primary school compared with students of the same age at a grammar school. I focused on the students of class sixth / ninth grade and first and fourth year of an eight-year grammar school). The survey was not only carried out in schools in the capital city but also in a smaller town.
Suicide Risks in Connection with Depressive Symptoms of Non-alcoholic Substance Addicts - men in Some Health-service Institutions in the Czech Republic

Starting point: Risk factors associated with suicidality are, for example, severe depressive phase in anamnesis, low self-esteem, feelings of hopelessness, aggressiveness, impulsivity, suicidal thoughts during depressive phase, severe anxiety, personality disorders (border, narcissistic, histrionic personality), nicotine abuse, alcohol or other substance abuse, stress, problems at work, sexual or psychical violence, conflicts with relatives or life partners, absence of the person who the pacient can trust (Látalová, & Praško, 2009). These risk factors can undoubtedly occur in non-alcoholic substance addicts, patients in hospitals or those without treatment. Thaťs why the work has been devoted to the topic of suicide, depression and addiction. In the research part I wanted to verify connection of depressive symptoms and suicidal risks in patients - men in some psychiatric hospitals in The Czech Republic. The risks of suicidal behavior among adolescents:diagnostic, interventional and preventive option

The diploma thesis "Risks of suicidal behavior among adolescents: Diagnostic, intervention and preventive options" deals with suicidality and suicidal behavior among adolescents in the Czech Republic. The theoretical part of the thesis describes the basic terms of this topic, various approaches and understanding of this issue in the past and in the present. This work also deals with the forms, methods and motives of suicidal behavior. Furthermore it describes the age of adolescence as an independent evolutionary period in the life of man and analyses the risks of this life era. The theoretical part also contains a description of the epidemiology of this phenomenon and possible diagnostic, therapeutic and preventive approaches to suicidal behavior. The empirical part of this thesis describes the research in which the goal was to determine the connection of the increase of suicidal risk and the basic dimension of the personality (using the Freiburg's Personality Inventory), social support (by the Perceived Social Support Scale) and life engagement (through the Life Engagement Test).
