German Energy Policy in the Context of the Foreign Policy of the FRG
Chrpa, Jiří ; Handl, Vladimír (advisor) ; Nigrin, Tomáš (referee)
This master thesis called "The German energy policy in the context of the foreign policy of the FRG" deals with the energy policy and its transfer abroad. The aim of this study is to answer the questions, whether Germany makes efforts to transfer its policy, whether the transfer occurs and, if so, what kind of actors are actively involved in it, what type of transfer it is and what is the result. The first part is dedicated to the theoretical frame of the topic, especially to the concept of policy transfer, which is the main theoretical pillar of this work. The second part deals with the formation of the German energy policy at the domestic level - with the historical and social context, the motives for eventual policy transfer and the attitudes of key actors: German government (with an emphasis on the Chancellor), political parties and industry. The next two chapters are devoted to the policy transfer on the bilateral level to the neighbouring Czech Republic and on the multilateral level to the European Union. It turns out that the roots of "Energiewende" can be found in the historical development of Germany and the main features of this policy have a consensual support of the key actors on the German level. Germany is a pioneer of a new energy policy model, whose success is however not yet...
Change of the German nuclear energy policy after the accident of nuclear power station in Fukushima
Svobodová, Tereza ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mynaříková, Romana (referee)
Germany decided in summer 2011 to stop using the atom as a source of energy. Politicians responded this way because of resistance of the society to the nuclear power. This opposition grew after the accident in Japanese power station Fukushima in March 2011. This thesis deals with German nuclear power policy and the anti-nuclear movement. It will trace it from its beginning in 1998, when the Green party was for the first time in government and the first nuclear power phase-out was decided, until the year 2012. The moves of mostly political participants are analysed in connection to Fukushima accident. The aim of this analyse is to describe the changes in German energy policy and to find reasons for the decision to give up nuclear power. The paper comes to conclusion that the reason for the amendment of nuclear act and thereby gradual disconnection of all nuclear power stations was not only because of the demand by the public, but also the pressure of the opposition on the government. The government tried to keep their voters, alternatively the bigger coalition partner CDU/CSU wanted to open another coalition possibility with one of the oppositional parties. Germany will have to build in following years not only new power stations, but also intelligent nets as well. If the Germans want to keep their goals...
German Energy Policy and Renewable Energy Sources - from Nationalization to Pragmatisation?
Pánková, Barbora ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Mlsna, Petr (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with German energy policy and renewable energy sources in the period of 1990-2012. Ensuring of stable, regular and uninterrupted supply of energy is one of the most important parts of security of every modern state. The main objective of this thesis is to create a suitable frame for German energy policy and especially for policy of renewables using theory of Pavlína Springerová. This theory deals with nationalistic and pragmatic approaches to energy policy and Springerová formulated this theory in the context of research of energy policies in Latin America. In the beginning, both approaches are presented. Then the attention is devoted to energy mix of Germany, advantages and disadvantages of renewables for Germany, energy programs and laws between 1990 and 2012 and current situation in Germany. The last chapter tries to clarify German energy policy of renewable energy sources using Springerová`s theory of approaches to energy policy.
Implementation of the European Directive on the Energy Performance of Buildings in the Czech Republic
Hatalová, Michaela ; Drhová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Vondrouš, Daniel (referee)
The diploma thesis "Implementation of the European Directive on the energy performance of buildings in the Czech Republic" is a case study of the application of European law in the sector of efficient use of energy by the end user. This is a very complex issue, because the sector of energy policy is interdisciplinary theme, touching a wide range of actors and the strategies for energy policy are formed at different levels of governance. The degree of harmony of these strategies affect the success of the transposition of European law at the national level. Czech Republic has implemented the directive into national law through the amendment to the Energy Management Act. The new legislation follows the existing trend of increasing requirements on building energy standard and extends the use of certification in the real estate market as an instrument of consumer protection. The adoption of these measures means the interaction of public and private sector, where is a conflict of interests and values of individual actors. A significant degree of controversy has an impact on the success of the implementation.

Comparative Analysis of Renewable Energy Sources in the Selected European Countries
Konečný, David ; Borecká, Marcela (referee) ; Ellederová, Eva (advisor)
Cílem této bakalářské práce je poskytnout informace o obnovitelných zdrojích energie v Německu a v České republice, a to zejména z pohledu historického vývoje, energetické politiky, využití a možností dalšího rozvoje těchto technologií.
Legal regulation of the renewable energy resources
Krupičková, Andrea ; Žákovská, Karolina (advisor) ; Damohorský, Milan (referee)
With the adoption of the Act on Promotion of Use of Renewable Energy Resources in 2005, the Czech Republic took a significant step forward to examine the economic field of energy in general in light of environmental and climate protection. With this act, the Czech Republic followed the example of other European Union member states in asserting the goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions and seeking alternative energy resources in the spirit of the Kyoto Protocol obligations. The goal of this Master's thesis is to present and logically analyze the relevant legal legislation concerning renewable resources passed in the Czech law. The emphasis of this analysis of the Act No. 180/2005 Sb. on the Promotion of the Use of Renewable Energy Resources in the context of energy law, whereby the attention is placed on promotion of energy production, those in the Czech Republic represent two alternative schemes: "feed-in tariff" and "green bonus certificates." With the broad definition of renewable energy resources in the introduction, this thesis comprises a basic overview of this comprehensive legal problem. This thesis consists of five separate chapters, which are closely related.

Kovalská, Jana ; Michalek, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kučerová, Irah (referee)
KOVALSKÁ, Jana. The Impact of Energy Policies of External Actors On Sudan Conflict. Praha, 2012. 71 s. Diplomová práce (Mgr.) Univerzita Karlova, Fakulta sociálních věd, Institut politologických studií. Katedra mezinárodních vztahů. Vedoucí diplomové práce PhDr. Tomáš Michalek. Abstract The thesis deals with the issue of oil exploitation companies and their impact on conflict in Sudan between the north and the south. In Sudan, the resurrection of civil war in 1983 corresponded with the oil dicovery on the borderlands between the two countries and oil has played important role also in the question of recent secession of South Sudan in January 2011 and reocurrence of violence between the two countries. The multi-national oil extraction companies are the carriers of oil money to the government so the thesis was examinig their impact on the conflict through the resources they provide the government with, the leverage they might have on the government and also direct impact on local communities. The conclusion was that the impact is negative and the capacities the companies have to influence it in positive way, are highly unexploited. Secondary research aim of the thesis was to understand the factors determining the behavior of the companies through their firm-specific intersts, relationship with the Government...

Knowledge explained in first and second part is exeplified by practical examples for better understanding. Third part contains of comparative case study that compares Denmark and The Czech republic from the point of view of energy policy development and conditions for development of energy cooperatives.
