The location of the buildings and their form respects the surroundings and is integrated into the structure of the city. From the suburb to the center The population in Krnov is declining. But what if the trend reverses? Is the city ready for such a situation? In the very center of the city there are countless free gaps and brownfields. The proposal seeks to present a suitable alternative to living on the suburbs in a family house. The newcomers can thus move to the center. Everything is closer, the city is more compact, livelier ... In the center and yet surrounded by greenery The place is perched on the former city fortification system. They eventually gave way to new construction and especially greenery. The park now surrounds most of the city center. The proposed structure responds to the green circuit. New synagogue in Trutnov
Rudolecká, Anna ; Benedek, Borislav (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor)
The assignment of the diploma thesis was the elaboration of an architectural study of a new synagogue in the town of Trutnov, on the site of the original Jewish synagogue, which was burned down during the November pogrom, the so-called Crystal Night in 1938. Nowadays, the synagogue area is modified and serves as a place of reverence to honour the memory of the victims and to commemorate these historical events. The result of the design is a new community centre. Its goal is to restore the existence and support the development of the Jewish community, which disappeared in Trutnov after the Second World War. In the area there is the seat of the Jewish community, a ritual cleansing bath Mikveh, Kosher restaurant and a new synagogue, which respects the location of the former synagogue on the site of the original foundations. The new Jewish community centre ensures the operation of the entire Jewish community in Trutnov. Part of the Jewish community centre is a large courtyard, which is used to celebrate Jewish holidays and also as a summer terrace for Kosher restaurant, which will be used by the Jewish community, but also by the inhabitants of Trutnov. This creates an attractive place to spend free time with a view of the nearby Giant Mountains and the historic centre of Trutnov, but at the same time it is protected from the bustle of the adjacent main street.

The influence of the expulsion and replacement of Sudeten Germans in Kraslice
Banzl, Marcel ; Nigrin, Tomáš (advisor) ; Šmidrkal, Václav (referee)
This bachelor's thesis deals with the effect of the forced expulsion of Germans from the town of Kraslice, and the replacement of the original population with newly arrived colonists from then-Czechoslovakia and other Eastern European countries in the 20th century. The introductory chapters provide historical context by describing Kraslice's history and the town's most prominent cultural and economic characteristics, and describe the process of expulsion in Kraslice. The core of the thesis is dedicated to both the short-term and long-term effects of population replacement. The post-war change in the local economy was mostly driven by the consolidation of pre-existing German businesses into two state-controlled companies, whose continuing function was key to the town's success. This transformation is therefore described with regards to its effects on Kraslice up to the present day. Due to strong anti-German sentiment after WWII, Kraslice's original culture was entirely wiped out (both figuratively and literally, as exemplified by the destruction of historical buildings) and replaced by the state-sanctioned "Slavic" culture, which was in reality a front for communist propaganda. For this reason, this thesis also details the absence of any cultural ties today's Kraslice has to the hundreds of years of...
