RESUME The aim of this study was to make an adequate functional translation of two short stories - Cloud (Oblak) and Milky Way (Mléčná dráha) - taken from the book of contemporary Czech writer Jan Balabán We are here (Jsme tady) and its translation comments. The first three chapters of this diploma work present a multiple-aspect analysis of original texts, define the translation method and concept, which aim to reproduce correctly the aesthetic function of analyzed literary works with the strengthening their communicative and informational functions. The last two chapters are devoted to analysis of translational difficulties and changes, which take place in the course of work and primarily cover lexical and pragmatic levels of texts.

Thesis Abstract This final bachelor thesis consists of two parts, czech translation of the french text and its commentary. The first part of this thesis is a translation of one section of the French breedes guide L'Homme et le chien. Bien communiquer. written by french veterinarian and entomologist Patrick Pageat. In this first part which consists on translation, I focused on creating a comprehensible and straightforward text for the czech recipient. I perserved the essential function of the original text - to provide information and give to the breeders the useful advice. The second part of the work consists detailed translation analysis of the original text. Then I focus on individual translation issues that I had to deal with in the czech text. The conclusion of the work summarizes the methods used in translation and provides the typology of problems.

This thesis consists of two parts: the first one is a Czech translation of two parts of the 6th chapter from the book "Birthing Fathers: The transformation of Men in American Rites of Birth" by Richard K. Reed, the second one is an analysis of the translation. The analysis begins with an outline of the intratextual and extratextual factors of the original text (according to Christiane Nord), it is followed by an overview of the most salient issues, which emerged during the process, and their solutions, then the analysis deals with the translation shifts and ends with the description of the chosen translation method. The text itself tackles the issue of men in the pocess of birth and is based on an anthropological research. This bachelor thesis consists of a translation from German into Czech, an expert commentary and an attachment - the original text. The commentary has four parts: translation analysis according to Christiane Nord, description of the translation method I chose for my translation, solutions of translation problems in the area of lexis, syntax, stylistics and pragmatics and the same typology of the shifts I have done during translating. The aim of the thesis is to present some articles of GEOEPOCHE and, at the same time, to show possibilities of working with a translated text and to solve translation problems so that they do not sound inappropriate in the final translation. Creating a draft translation version of "The Chedoke Arm and Hand Activity Inventory (CAHAI)" evaluating manual

This bachelor thesis deals with a translation of the manual for the evaluation tool "The Chedoke Arm and Hand Activity Inventory (CAHAI)". Creating a translation draft of the CAHAI manual is this work's main goal. The theoretical part summarizes knowledge about cerebrovascular accident (CVA), and its consequences. Next, the theoretical part deals with a function of the upper limb and the testing of the upper limb in occupational therapy. A part is also dedicated to a summary of the evaluation manual of the CAHAI. The process of translating technical and academical texts is also discussed. In the practical part, the author describes the realization and the method of translating. The secondary goal of this work is to perform a pilot study with 3 patients after cerebrovascular accident using the Czech translation of CAHAI-13. For that reason, the practical part also contains case studies. The thesis contains case studies with a diagnostical part i.e., case studies do not have a plan and process of therapies. The result of this thesis is the Czech translation of the CAHAI and an evaluation of CAHAI's usage in research. The aim of this bachelor thesis is a translation of a chapter titled Prinuditel'nyje migracii i Vtoraja mirovaja vojna from a Pavel Polyan's book Ne po svojej vole: Istorija i geografija prinuditel'nych migracij v SSSR and the analysis and commentary of this translation. The commentary consists of four parts. The first part contains an analysis of the source text using the model of Christiane Nord, taking into account also the cathegories used in Czech stylistics. The second part describes the conception of translation and the chosen translation method. The next part deals with problems that occured during the process of translation and their solutions. The last part deals with the translation shifts.
