Methodology for Determining the Dynamic characteristics of a Turbocharger Pneumatic Actuator
Hálek, Dominik ; Kocman, František (referee) ; Novotný, Pavel (advisor)
This diploma thesis is dealing with design of Methodology for Determining the Dynamic characteristics of a Turbocharger Pneumatic Actuator. Pneumatic Actuator is used as a control mechanism in turbocharged internal combustion engines, which affects the engine performance, efficiency and fuel consumption. Main aim of this thesis is to develop a systematic comprehensive procedure for collecting and analysing measured data of dynamic behaviour of this actuator. In the first part of the thesis, an experimental method is designed and implemented to measure the data required to analyse the dynamics of the actuator at different variations of pressure, displacement and frequency settings. A measurement chain with appropriate sensors is built and a software environment for data acquisition and storage is developed. In the second part of the thesis, the experimentally measured data are evaluated using mathematical model in Matlab software environment to extract stiffness and damping values from measured data and determine their dependence on frequency, pressure and displacement.

The aim of the work is to get acquainted with the basic theoretical knowledge, which will subsequently be applied in the modeling and calculation of specific closed profiles. Individual results are compared in the thesis. Basic concepts and knowledge are explained in the theoretical part. The practical part deals with the calculation of individual cross-sections and practical measurement.
Historical cultural landscape of the deserted settlements in the Kaplice region
Baramová, Magdalena
The open landscape of the former district of Kaplice, situated between the Bohemian Forest and Gratzen Mountains on the Czech-Austrian border, has stimulated economic and cultural exchange between the two territories since prehistoric times. From the second half of the 13th century until the events after the Second World War, the region was predominantly inhabited by German-speaking population, but after the displacement the area underwent a turbulent development. Within a few years, socio-demographic changes have got imprinted in the landscape, and today several overlapping phenomena can be observed, which together reflect the process of transformation of the area. At the beginning of the 1950s, many settlements disappeared as a result of under-population and the construction of the Iron Curtain. Nevertheless, there are still remains of the use of the landscape by its former inhabitants, especially in the form of relics of buildings, religious architecture, roads, hedgerows, landscaping, waterworks and other traces. The securing of the national border has brought a further transformation of the landscape, which has had a devastating effect on the cultural heritage, but on the other hand it has helped to develop natural communities that are now protected. Even after the fall of communism, the region has not reached the population of the pre-war period, so the absence of settlement continues to give the area a unique genius loci. However, the cultural and historical values of the landscape are not yet protected on a basis, therefore the paper seeks to introduce the values and emphasises the need to protect them.
Displacement of the German population from the Chřibská valley. The course, consequences and reflection in contemporary sources and the stories of witnesses.
Zdražilová, Hana ; Hlaváček, Jiří (advisor) ; Wohlmuth Markupová, Jana (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to map the course of the displacement of the German population from the Chřibská valley after the World War II. and its consequences for the development of the area's significance. The thesis is based on the study of archival sources, contemporary press, available scientific and regional literature and interviews with witnesses using the Oral History method. The interviews were conducted with those who were forcibly evicted or who could or had to stay, and those from among the new settlers. The aim of the work was also to get a general overview of the recorded testimonies from the region and the existing links between the current and displaced populations. The contribution of the project would be a micro-historical probe into the development of life in one valley against the backdrop of historical events, and to capture the experiences and stories of the memorialists for posterity. Keywords: displacement; marches; transports; settlement; demolition; micro-history
Nonlinear static and dynamic analysis of a high-rise building model on the effects of earthquakes
Puža, Martin ; Martinásek, Josef (referee) ; Vlk, Zbyněk (advisor)
Diploma thesis deals with the calculation of the response of structures for seizmic loads by linear and nonlinear methods with subsequent comparison of results. The method of lateral forces is used for linear calculation. Particular examples are analyzed nonlinearly by using pushover method. The comparison of both methods is carried out according to the analytical calculation with softwares RFEM 5.30 and Midas Gen for certain constructions.

Agricultural settlement - Mountain pastoral cooperatives in the district of Trutnov from 1945 to 1949
Nováková, Tamara ; Pokorný, Jiří (advisor) ; Holubec, Stanislav (referee) ; Dvořák, Tomáš (referee)
The history of mountain pastoral cooperatives 1945-1949 has not yet been sufficiently elaborated and reflected in the whole range of issues, not even at the national level, let alone at the level of each border political district or otherwise defined region. The presented text will focus on the genesis of mountain pasture cooperatives at the national level, in the political post-war context, including the fundamental theoretical background, and will describe in particular the implementation of six cooperatives in the Giant Mts (Krkonoše in Czech) and Giant Mts foothills, in particular the Trutnov political district. In the form of a probe, the implemented HPDs in the Prachatice district will be described for comparison. Comparison of the theoretical plans of the Ministry of Agriculture with concrete implementation in the complicated reality of the various ways of re-locating post-war sites in the Trutnov district brings a new perspective firstly on the evaluation of the success of the mountain pastoral cooperatives or on the limits and possibilities of their success. Secondly, it presents pastoral cooperatives as a key player in the transformation of the cultural landscape of some localities affected by them. At the same time, the study describes the exklusive possibility for grassland promoters to...
The long-term legacy of the liberation of the Sudetenland by the Red and US armies
Grossmann, Jakub ; Jurajda, Štěpán
Forced migration results in trauma to the millions of people displaced from their homes, but very little is known about the fate of those who avoided expulsion and became a minority in the new society. This analysis reveals how and to what degree the manner and extent of the post-war expulsion of the German population from the Sudetenland influenced the country’s long-term social development.
Forced migration, staying minorities, and new societies: evidence from post-war Czechoslovakia
Grossmann, Jakub ; Jurajda, Štěpán ; Roesel, F.
Forced migration traumatizes millions displaced from their homes, but little is known about the few who manage to stay and become a minority in a new society. We study the case of German stayers in Sudetenland, a region from which Czechoslovakia expelled ethnic Germans after World War Two. The unexpected presence of the US Army in parts of 1945 Czechoslovakia resulted in more anti-fascist Germans avoiding displacement compared to regions liberated by the Red Army. We study the long-run impacts of this local variation in the presence of left-leaning stayers and find that Communist party support and local party cell frequencies, as well as far-left values and social policies are more pronounced today where anti-fascist Germans stayed in larger numbers. Our findings also suggest that political identity supplanted German ethnic identity among anti-fascist stayers. The German staying minority shaped the political identity of newly formed local societies after ethnic cleansing by providing the ‘small seed’ of political development.
Identity and Displacement in Contemporary Postcolonial Fiction
Olehlová, Markéta ; Nováková, Soňa (advisor) ; Franková, Milada (referee) ; Kolinská, Klára (referee)
English summary The main objective of this thesis is to present some key issues relevant for postcolonial field of study with respect to two basic areas of interest: concepts of identity and place, respectively displacement in contemporary postcolonial discourse and their reflection in fiction, too. The thesis should provide the potential reader with basic theoretical background based on the most fundamental sources and by means of selected literary works it should support (or disclaim, if necessary) conclusions reached by the most notable theories. This dissertation work consists of three major parts. In the introduction, apart from providing the motivational, theoretical and literary objectives of the thesis, I cover some basic difficulties that may occur when dealing with the postcolonial field of study. The central part of the thesis can be divided into two parts, each of them consisting of two further sections. The first one, "Identity in Postcolonial Discourse", is focused on one of the key terms in all of postcolonial theory: identity and other concepts related with it. I cover the basic development of theoretical reflection concerning this concept, drawing primarily from secondary sources dealing with it. The theoretical part on identity is succeeded by a chapter "Reflections of Identity in the...
