Multipurpose Town House on Křížová Street, Brno
Doležalová, Iveta ; Mutina, Petr (referee) ; Sochor, Jan (advisor)
The plot is located in Old Brno, in places with rich history, work continues on the analysis from previous semesters. The site has a particularly strong character, supported by well-preserved courtyards with galleries. This arrangement is now a feature space. Closed courts - or semi-private, where they can (to some extent) - the function of housing mixed with other municipal activities and promote the vitality of the house. This work also builds on the solution Mendel Square from previous semester and support the approach taken to assist the courts, courtyards and courtyard for a given location. The block in which the plot is (blank space) is due to the planned puncture Ypsilantiho significant changes will come primarily throughout the eastern part. Together with our Western or 2 vacant lot will be completely free of the block. There is therefore a greater possibility of intervention, links, thinking about this task as a whole. The inspiration for the character building and way of life for a given site, I propose the installation of smaller flats, starter, student, housing for individuals. These apartments will offer common areas, places where people meet. I choose residence as a gallery space houses .... the courts to extend the vertical direction. I propose a system of yards through the entire block, the courts are connected to a central semi-public communication, which is rarely allowed to enter cars. Courts alternate, semi-public courts are the place to galleries and access to the apartment, the living room. Other courts are "green" - private - where there is access only to residents. The courts are quiet-oriented sleeping porches on the kitchen window, so that has galleries with natural living space.
New Old Brno Return of living to the city centres
Žáková, Michaela ; Kaštánková, Jana (referee) ; Františák, Luboš (advisor)
The Master´s Thesis showcases a proposal of housing in the centre of the city. The proposal is located near the historical centre of the city Brno. The thesis is mostly done as a urban study and partly in a detail of a architectural study. It includes wider analysis of the current state plus the new proposal, street design and city block detail. In this proposal I think about the need of a green space in the city. In my thesis you are being introduced to few unordinary houses. They are not traditional in a term of city block houses, because they are solitaires. Those forms bring new possibilities for green space in the city and inhabitant´s satisfaction.
Roots of Moravian Urban Structure
Mohelník, Ladislav ; Löw, Jiří (referee) ; Prokeš, Oldřich (referee) ; Hrabec, Josef (referee) ; Koutný, Jan (advisor)
The thesis has been written on the basis of main architectural concepts and their application in real life within a historical context investigation. Main architectural concepts are represented in a harmony of architectural composition that deals with relations among form, structure and space in the unique art work. Genius loci play very important role in the architectural creation - it represents a special and extra-ordinary urban locality and its architectural value in the historical, geographical and cultural context. The origin of Ostravice village within the historical frame concept of Moravia domain is the topic of this thesis. Other historical documents gave information about Bruneswerde as the Brno Castle. That means Brno Castle had to be founded not in Brno (as it has been consid-ered for many years) but it was located in Beskydy at Ostravice. The sacred city – Civitas Dei had been located in Bruneswerde region in early ages as the centre of European culture, education and spiritual life. Civitas Dei – divine Jerusalem in the transcription of St. Augustine's book De civitate Dei – is not only glorification of God and religious fantasy. It is also one of significant clues for recognition of historical architecture. The depiction of unknown settlement from the book of unde-fined origin is a superb testimony about extinct architectural works. They are legible from cadastral maps. Brno Castle - residence of nobility and power served shelter to St. Vojtěch, St. Prokop, St. Václav and St. Ludmila as it is obvious for the mentioned picture. Three major temples, three com-position axes symbolized by three towers on coins are in analogical relation to Brno triangle of four saints - the Saint family of Brno temples. Powerful ambitions of Brno City principals and clergy are inscribed into the urban structure in the way of composition relations which are legible to them who devoted themselves to the mystery of harmony. The absence of historical continuity affects personal attitudes and also identity of the whole community. The architecture truly reflects the past state of polis and it is eloquent even after its death. The architectural composition relations influence the natural environment for long time, longer than the architectural work existence. The geometric order of Renaissance Brno existence has not been in attention of architects so far. The features were discovered in characteristic paintings by Albrecht Durer. They are evidently secret works of the genius. A meaningful collaborator and follower in the extensive project was also his friend Jan Čert from Brno and lately from Vienna. His noble genealogy played a significant role in history of Silesia and Moravia for centuries. It is tendency to consider him as Austrian or even German architect. It is because of the fact that the genealogy tree of his noble family had roots in Moravia. It is supposed that Durer with Jan Čert´s support created the extraordinarily monumental architectural and urban works in Brno. A remarkable consensus in the urban composition of two squares and transition of traditional urban structure of Ostravice Civitas Dei into the modern Brno is also confirmed due to the identification of noble creators and owners, who were at the foundation, transformation and extinction of elements of the Moravian urban structure.

Mičková, Markéta ; Šubrt, Jan (referee) ; Dulenčín, Juraj (advisor) ; Hradil, Dušan (advisor)
Bachelor’s thesis „Residential building Brno Kopecna“ handles construction of a new residential building in a gap site in Kopecna street, Brno. Main idea of the project is creating private space (atrium and terrace), which makes the living in town centre better. More important facts were different height and shape of neighboring buildings. The new building tries to sensitively integrate into the 2 above-ground floors building with a mansard roof on the south and 5 above-ground floors residential building on the north. A draft of residential building has 5 ground floors and 1 underground floor where the cellars, technical room and parking are. In the ground floor are commercial space and space for inhabitant. There are a saloon and a courtyard for spending a free time. In the higher floors are the flats. Main entrace is from Kopecna street, a private entrance is from Studanka street.
LIBRARY plus - Multiporpouse Building with Library
Marečková, Kateřina ; Foretník, Jan (referee) ; Kristek, Jan (advisor)
A new architectural centre for Brno is created, including a library in which, instead of the books, the rooms are to be found. The books are stored in a robotic storage tower, enabling delivery to every floor. This opens up completly free movement for the visitor, without dependence on where the book is stored. The rooms are composed irationally on purpose. This creates unexpected correlation, visual axis and fragmentation of space. The walls are dividing lines and borders between different visual experiences. Materials are put into new context, altering their character.
Renewal of Old Brno District
Sopoušková, Petra ; Matoušková, Petra (referee) ; Mléčka, Jan (advisor)
The work deals with the development of the Old Brno District . Old Brno District is currently marked by waiting for the implementation of the land use plan, which should solve the problem of traffic. The implementation, however, will probably take a few decades. I propose to use the period of time before the change of traffic routes and begin a gradual development that will prefigure target form of the district. Well-designed architecture and urbanism is not the only condition for well-functioning city. Therefore, I propose a process which should lead to the target form, but to create social, economic, ecological and aesthetic values independently of it. For this purpose vacant spaces and temporary structures are used.

The purpose of the project is to revive Mendel Square and to find ways to connect the concepts of town hall/connectivity/democratic city and create a pleasant space for officials and visitors.
