Problem of Sacrament with especial regard to Eucharist and Matrimony

This thesis Problem of Sacrament with especial regard to Eucharist and Matrimony deals with issues of the Sacrament, a relation of a visible and invisible level in the Sacrament, a role of a symbol and a comparison of a conception of the Sacrament in the orthodox, reformed and catholic churches from the religionistic point of view. Further, this thesis deals with two selected sacraments: the Eucharist which is the Sacrament in all the churches, and the Matrimony which most of the churches do not recognize as the Sacrament. In the issue of the Eucharist, there has been solved a progress of its understanding and a comparison of a conception in particular churches. In the issue of the Matrimony, there have been presented options why it is possible or not to recognize it as the Sacrament, then a comparison of a conception of the selected churches, an issue of a confesionally mixed marriages and an issue of divorces.

Institut je zkoumán v kontextu existence konfesn -právního institutu "vystoupení z církve" ve sledovaných zemích (SRN, Rakousko, Švýcarsko) a také v kontextu souvisejících pastora ních otázek. Drugs addiction and Church's position

English abstract This thesis is entitled "Požívání návykových látek a stanovisko církve", or, in English, "Use of Addictive Substances and Attitudes of the Church." It aims at providing - at least a limited - description of this problem, which is a negative feature of modern history of the Czech Republic. Following a shift in its political system in 1989, when a liberal capitalist system replaced a Communist system, the structure of values and the social structure of Czech society - young people in particular - changed much. Most of the data that I use apply to the Czech Republic and, to a lesser degrese, the European Union and the US. I look at these data from the perspective of the Catolic Church, that is to say, Christian ethics, morals, and the Canon law. I also examine the effect of evil with regard to this issue. The belief that the real situation of using addictive substance is very bad and extremely dangerous for the future hasproved to be correct. The Czech republic is one of the worst affected countries in Europe in term of using addictive substances (tobacco, alcohol, and illegal drugs). This is due to underestimating and taking a negligent approach to the problem in the past, among other factors. This had resulted in a rapid increase in use of these substances and in related crime. Cardinal Josef Beran S.M.Bernadetta Pavla Pěstová, OSU This thesis deals with reference and work of Josef Cardinal Beran, especially from the perspective of his pastoral work as an educationalist, the diocesan bishop and cardinal living in forcible exile. The thesis consists of five chapters. The first charter describes Beran's life hierarchically and emphasizes his clarical activity. The second charter deals with his teaching activities. Furthermore, this charter focuses on the selected publications that Cardinal Beran wrote during his life. A fundamental part of this thesis is the third chapter, dealing with the activities of the Archbishop from 1945 to 1949. The final chapters are devoted to activities in the intervent of Josef Beran in Roman exile. Cardinal Josef Beran ranks among the leading personalities of the 20th century. Madelaine Delbrêl - inspiration for lay spirituality Abstract Madeleine Delbrêl is one of significant personalities in the Catholic Church in the twentieth century. Her way of life and her thoughts, in particular those regarding universal vocation to sainthood and mission influenced the Second Vatican Council. Her prophetic inspiration about lay dignity based on baptism was after thirty years expressed in many council documents and so contributed to a change of lay status in the Church. Abstract The aim of this project was the study of the ordination law, the history of the hidden church, and the subsequent research and comparison of all "types" of secret ordinations in all levels (ordination and consecration) granted during the Communist regime of 1948-1989 in Czechoslovakia or to Czechoslovak citizens abroad, especially from the perspective of the canon law. The presented dissertation consists of an introduction, seven chapters and a conclusion. The first chapter gives the basics of the ordination law, the second chapter describes the relations between the Church and the state during the relevant historical period in Czechoslovakia and the first secret Episcopal ordinations. Historic causes and context of the present position of the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech society

(in English) This thesis is focused on historic causes and context of contemporary position of the Roman Catholic Church in the Czech society. To chosen problematics I approach through a concept of spirituality which enables us to have a preview on other phenomena and processes that disrupted catholic religiosity. My thesis starts in the Enlightenment which has had a quite underlying ideological influence on the position churches all over the Europe, while I complemented this chapter by secularization aspects of Judeo-Christian tradition. The next chapter dedicating to 19. century is primarily focused on modernization processes (especially Czech nationalism) which could replace or suppressed traditional religiosity. The short 20. century is devided on formation of relationship between state, church and society (The First Republic and communist period) and simoustaneously in framework of this part it is introduced postmodern transformation of religion whose ,,offshoots" characterise present Czech spirituality. Attitude of the Catholic Church towards the Vichy regim

Following thesis deals with relationship between the Catholic Church and a regime established in a part of France during the Second World War. The purpose of the thesis is to analyse main origins of attitude of the Catholic Church towards Vichy France. This attitude is generally considered to be positive. The thesis examines this question only on level of episcopacy. Other levels of possible research are knowingly omitted because of a limited extent of this text. The author emphasizes three main problems of relationship between the Catholic Church and the Vichy regime. Firstly, the thesis focuses on the process of convergence of the Church and the state, secondly this congruity is confronted with moments of clash of opinion between these two elements. Finally, the last chapter deals with post-war situation in France which is connected with purification of the catholic hierarchy. The religious life in South Bohemia in the period 1948-1989

The thesis Religious Life In South Bohemia In The Period of 1948-1989 deals with the issue of limitations of Catholic religious life from the Czechoslovak state. Due to the fact that after the February 1948 the Communist goverment begun to publish "new canon laws" and started targeted restrictions in the church life, it influenced countless life stories of believers. By using the method of oral history, studying achival sources of South Bohemian Regional National Committee and history literature, in my thesis I was trying to approach at least some aspects of that time in the lives of seven witnesses comprising four catholic priest and three laymen. The master thesis deals with the biography of Mons. ThDr. Antonin Liska CSsR (1924 - 2003), the 11th bishop of České Budějovice. It reflects different stages of his life seen on the background of the changing situation of the Catholic Church in Czechoslovakia in the second half of the 20th century. The thesis presents mainly bishop Liška's family background in the South Bohemian countryside, his religious formation in the Redemptorist order before and during the Second World War, his theology studies in the after-war years, his secret ordination during the time of the rising totalitarian communist regime, his public ministry during the so called "normalisation" period, his activities in the underground church, his involvement in the Czech ecumenical translation of the Bible, his appointment as the auxiliary bishop of Prague in 1988 and his ministry as the head of the Diocese of České Budějovice from 1991 to 2002. The thesis is primarily based on written archive sources and personal testimonies given by relatives and collaborators of bishop Liška.
