The issue of openness of the Czech traditional media towards Internet non-users

This paper deals theoretically and empirically with the issue of traditional media openness towards Internet non-users and its perception among non-users themselves. The theoretical part of the work outlines the problem of inequality in the information society and how specific content of messages in selected traditional media can contribute to these inegualities. The second part examines through a pilot content analysis the nature of the media content in the traditional Czech mass media with regard to the possibility of interaction and participation with the media and the usage of links to the digital content. On this basis, semi-structured interviews examine perception and reflection of such phenomena on a selected group of elderly non-users. The conclusion of this work consists of the introduction of the scheme of factors influencing the extent of perceived discrimination among non-users of the Internet in relation to traditional mass media.

Jan Pokorný, Ph.D. Abstrakt The aim of this diploma thesis is the design, implementation and development of database applications for portal Andromedia using database technology. The solution is designed as an information base for continuing professional education. The purpose of the databank is gradually collect information of trends and analyzes in the field of continuing education, ideas and practices, methods, teaching aids, case studies, tests and other guidelines and sources of information. Author documented the results of the analysis of the problem and created solution using methods of project management solutions. The new solution is graphic design, database design and description using the RF model, and UML diagrams. Technologies used in the design databank are the programming language PHP and MySQL relational database. The conclusion evaluates the success of database applications implementation, where is the most interesting findings that the application is used very often in the exam period, when it was mostly used by students to obtain the most suitable materials for self-study. Information Society and E-Health

The aim of the thesis has been to describe and analyse the issue of eHealth in the context of the information society and to define its role in the Czech Republic and the world. Besides the presentation of the basic characteristics of the concept of eHealth, its position within the WHO and the EU, the work has focused mainly on the situation in the field of eHealth in the Czech Republic in relation to the information society at several levels. This includes specialist companies, national and regional projects, specialist conferences, universities and the role of medical libraries in this area. A SWOT analysis with the support of researches on published documents dealing with this topic and the topic of professional conferences is used to analyse the overall condition. The final summary of this survey provides a brief overview of current trends in the concept of eHealth and the outline of future development in the Czech Republic.
The Acceleration of Communication and Manifestations of Everydayness in the Information Society. Parallel to the Approaches of Paul Virilio and Godfrey Reggio

This thesis deals with the introduction of new technologies in the information society, which cause acceleration of aspects of everyday life. The consequence of this situation is the increased level of alienation and anonymity among people in cities. The thesis compares the view of two authors. The first one is a French writer and philosopher Paul Virilio, the other is an American director Godfrey Reggio. Both authors perceive the transformation of today's society negatively and describe the consequences arising from the introduction of new technologies. Each of them uses a different form of expression - Paul Virilio, writing and text, Godfrey Reggio, documentary films. Nevertheless, they have the same opinion on the relevant issues and come to similar conclusions. The aim of this thesis is to compare the two authors and their ideas and propose possible solutions to prevent negative consequences of acceleration of aspects of everyday life. European Union information policy at the time of the Bangemann's activities in comparison with USA

(in English) The thesis "Information Policy of European Union in Bangemann's activities period in comparison with USA" is devoted to the Information policy issue applied by the European Union and the United States of America. The thesis structure is defined at the earliest; afterwards the basic terms are followed. The thesis describes the European Union history, which provides context needed to be able to understand the European Union Information policy. The description and evaluation of the European Information policy in Bangemann's activities period in comparison with USA in the same time period and the possibility of mutual utilization of pros of the Information policy of both countries is the aim of this thesis. The following part is occupied with the comparison of EU and USA Information policy at the beginning of 21st century.
Success of school leavers in the knowledge society

The thesis concentrates on unintended consequences of putting emphasis on education in the current society and their impacts on labour market success of school graduates as well as on fulfilment of employers needs from the perspective of occupying job positions in accordance with the demographic aging of the population. The thesis is trying to answer the question, if education has an adequate influence on the social mobility as it was in the recent past. The author is also trying to suggest possible solutions of the situation occurred on the labour market from the viewpoint of the qualified labour shortage with lower educational level, especially in the secondary sector. Possibilities are seen in the consistent assertion of the LLL conception, increasing the relevance of the education content and adapting to the changing requirements of qualifications through of cooperation between schools and employers. Last but not least the thesis also draws attention to the need of relevant information about the labour market development and chances of graduates to find a job in the chosen field.
Information and Communication Technologies in the Lifestyle of the Czech Population

The dissertation deals with the position of information and communication technologies in the lifestyle of the Czech society and the changes occurring in relation to these technologies. First of all, the basic conceptions of information and knowledge society are described and identified. In the next part, lifestyle is defined from theoretical and methodological standpoints for the concept to be operationalized for further analysis. In the analytical part, the author uses the results of a series of representative quantitative empirical research, in which she participated, examining, through the typical indicators, the place of information and communication technologies in the entire population, the pace of implementing the technologies, and the differences in various demographic groups using the technologies. The last part of the dissertation includes an empirical construction of lifestyle based on the two factors which are considered fundamental (leisure and values), also presenting an analysis, in the framework of different lifestyles, of specific aspects in making use of the information and communication technologies.
