Eating disorders in students of dietetics and nutrition and the effect of nutrition on their nutritional status
ŠTĚPÁNOVÁ, Vendula
The bachelor's thesis deals with the topic of eating disorders in students of nutritional therapy and the influence of nutrition on their nutritional status. This work is focused on the issue of eating disorders (hereinafter referred to as "PPD") and their prevalence among nutritional therapy students and the consequences of eating disorders. These are now very widespread diseases that have not been talked about enough until now. Diseases mainly affect young people, but adults are no exception, as their treatment is both psychologically and often nutritionally difficult. The aim of the work is to determine the risk of pathological eating behavior in nutritional therapy students, how the diet of students with PPP and without PPP differs. Data and results are determined using the standardized questionnaires ORTO-15 and EAT-26 (Eating Attitudes Test-26) and using a self-administered questionnaire. The practical part also deals with the analysis of the obtained menus and then the eating habits of the students of the field of nutritional therapy according to whether they are/have been through PPP or not. Nutrition therapy students who underwent PPP show different eating behavior than students without PPP, especially in controlling their energy intake and reduced carbohydrate intake. Overall, 10.6 % of students achieved a pink score in the EAT-26 questionnaire and even 74 % in the ORTO-15 questionnaire. It is certainly advisable to continue to increase awareness of PPP among experts and the lay public.
Anorexia nervosa - recovery
Chudačíková, Dominika ; Presslerová, Pavla (referee)
The rigorous thesis deals with anorexia nervosa as one of the basic forms of eating disorders, with emphasis on the very common chronic progression of this serious psychiatric illness. This thesis is based on the scientific fact, that conspicuous eating habits, constant control of thinking and behavior, as well as self-perception disorders, are observed in most cases, even in already cured patients. Risk factors such a long-term stress or prone personality, can result in the acute phase of anorexia nervosa. The rigorous thesis is qualitatively focused. The chosen methods of data collection are a questionnaire survey and a following semi-structured interview. The condition for participation in the research is the past experience with anorexia nervosa, without the current presence of the acute phase of this disease. The main goal of the rigorous thesis is to take a look, through specific stories of interviewed respondents, on individual ways of the recovery from the acute phase of anorexia nervosa, to map their current feelings, needs and burning issues. Based on the survey results, the outcome of the rigorous thesis are the specific recommendations for individuals who are prone to the emergence of recurrence of anorexia nervosa. These recommendations should lower the risk of relapse of the acute...
Nothing tastes as good as hunger (television documentary about anorexia)
Slavíková, Kristýna ; Macková, Veronika (advisor) ; Lokšík, Martin (referee)
Eating disorders (abbreviated as ED) are complex mental illnesses that manifest not only on the level of the mind, but also have a profound effect on the physical health of patients. Individuals who suffer from one of the types of ED often face a significantly reduced quality of life, as well as misunderstandings and unfounded prejudices from the general public. Arguably the most well-known variant of the disease is anorexia nervosa, which is also one of the psychiatric diagnoses with the highest mortality rate. Although the incidence of the disease has increased in recent years, for example as a result of social media and the COVID-19 pandemic, audiovisual coverage of the topic has lagged behind, as there are few recent films dealing with the disease. The television documentary, Nothing Tastes as Good as Hunger, therefore seeks to bring the audience closer to living with anorexia through the authentic story of 19-year-old Tereza Putišová, giving viewers an uncensored insight into the mind of a girl who has her own rich experience of the disease.

The topic of this bachelor's work is the social media as an online diary for people suffering from an eating disorder. I also addressed a possible link between addictive behavior and the online diary and content on social media. The aim of the work was to characterize the issue of online journals, which can motivate them to break food intake. Further, using an inquiry survey to find out how the age category 11-19 years of age perceives social networks, its appearance, self-esteem, weight, and just this kind of harmful content on social media. In the practical part, the questionnaire survey method was chosen to obtain the results of the quantitative research, thanks to which the responses of persons from the basic set were analysed by the pupils of the Gymnasium Chotěboř, the pupils of the primary school Ždírec nad Doubravou and Krucemburk. A total of 500 respondents in the age category from 11-19 years were involved in this research.

Theoretical part contains basic information about afforementioned disorders, its manifestations, consequences, etiological factors and treatment, prevention is also included. All of those informations are backed up by professional literature authors who are specialized in eating disorders. In practical part there are stories of five girls who went through a certain eating disorder in their growing up. The focus is on impact of social networks and foremost on their motivations, which were crucial for them during therapy. Further off, we mention aspects which were impacted the most by the girls asked. The objective of the practical part was to find out specific motivation in therapy and evaluate the extension of social networks impact on the course of those disorders. To fulfill those objectives, I used the semi-structured interviews, which were again designed and put together according to studied sources of professional literature. Despite the sensitivity of this topic, I managed to obtain all the needed data to complete...

Kočí, Gabriela ; Stackeová, Daniela (advisor) ; Demeková, Júlia (referee)
Anorexia nervosa (AN) is a mental illnes manifesting itselg, among other signs, with impaired body schema and rejection of food. Principal focus of the thesis was to assess the discrimination treshold, ability to evaluate sensory perception and body self-concept in adolescent female patients hospitalised with anorexia nervosa. Our goal was to clarify and better understand the still not adequately described neurophysiological aspects of anorexia nervosa. The results were compared to control group; both groups comprised 18 girls, the average age of observed group being 14,7 ± 0,71 years and average age of control group being 15,3 ±0,71 years. Two-point discrimination was examined in three areas - arm, between shoulder blades and belly - with modified caliper. The Petrie test was used in sensory perception testing, while body self-concept was measured with BAT questionare. The examinations were performed in standardised conditions during similar day times. We found significant difference in two-point discrimination in the area between the shoulder blades with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,0001. A statistically significant difference was also observed in body self-concept with significance level α = 5 % and p-value p = 0,017. Thus we conclude that patients suffering from anorexia nervosa...
