Comparison of selected catechetical aids in connection with the sacrament of Confirmation

This thesis "Comparison of selected catechist tools in connection with the sacrament of Confirmation" compares selected catechist books regarding the criteria related to theological, anthropological and catechist themes. The first part presents theological themes - it includes the form and quality of informing about the Holy Spirit and its demonstration in the Old and New Testament, as well as liturgical demonstration of the Church in connection with the Holy Spirit and the dimension of symbols. Further it covers the relation of the Holy Trinity to the sacraments and the close relation of the initiation sacraments with its effect on the receiver. It also deals with the position of catechism in relation to evangelisation and the fact how its structure reflects the catechumen's faith. The second part describes anthropological themes - it focuses on the natural behaviour of the humans, their relation to rituals, on the process of maturing and the importance of a community in the life of a human being from the point of view of faith and religious experience. In the third part we compare the contents and the tasks of the catechisms in the selected catechist tools. Evolution as a Way to God in the Work of Teilhard de Chardin

This dissertation deals with the notion of centration in the work of Teilhard de Chardin, the notion being examined with regard to two related aims: 1) to illustrate the logical structure of Teilhard's Christian theory of evolution, and 2) to explain the relation between centration carried out by created beings and centration assigned to God as the focal point of evolution. In other words: to explore the connection between fundamental freedom attributed by Teilhard to created beings and culminating in human beings according to him, and God's freedom demonstrating itself in controlling the universe and directing it to a goal being the fullness of being (pleroma). The first part presents Teilhard's life and the contexts of his work. The second part explains the main notions of Teilhard's theory and metaphysics, such as "consciousness", "spirit", "energy", "centro-complexity", and "matter", and relates them to the notion of centration. Centration is presented here as an activity of the consciousness consisting in the unifying formation of multitude by its interconnection with different types of relations around one centre. The Fundamental Ethical Topics in the Authentic Letters of the Apostle Paul

This diploma thesis deals with the description of the ethical themes in the Apostle Paul's authentic letters. At the very beginning of the description and of the ethical themes analysis, there is the historical context and events in Saint Paul's life depicted - his missionary travels and the ethical issues of his time. Further, there is the basis of Paul's ethics explained. In the following third chapter, the main ethical themes are being described thouroughly, e.g. love, freedom or conscience. There are also such topics as marriage, sexual ethics or the moral life in church community. In the fourth chaprer, we can learn about the current Paul's ethical principles within the context of fellow feeling or love to women. In conclusion, there are Paul's ethical principles and connection between faith and sense summarized. Topic of Life in Early Bergson

This diploma thesis observes the topic of life in early Bergson. It is divided into three parts. The first chapter is concentrated on Essay on the Immediate Data of Consciousness. In this chapter we can become acquainted with the distinction between duration and space. This distinction is the basic of Bergson philosophy. We can also see the distinction between the deeper self and the surface self, which is based on the first distinction. The second chapter Matter and Memory shows how the foregoing distinctions are connected through the Bergson's theory of memory. In the last charter, named Creative Evolution, we deal with the metaphysic concept of life by Bergson, which has always been connected with duration and freedom

The Ground of the World: A Marginal Problem in Hegel's Phenomenology of Spirit

Is there a world in G. W. F. Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit? This is the central question my doctoral thesis aims to address. Both scholars and philosophers alike tend to consider Hegel a thinker who, having formulated the philosophy of absolute spirit, has surrendered the world. Despite this suspicion, the consciousness finds itself at nearly every level of Hegel's oeuvre in a place called "the world". At every stage, the world changes its shape - along with the consciousness - but its function seems to remain the same. The world is a conception of totality; thus, the world is an object of the consciousness that, by definition, surpasses the consciousness and thus reveals its limits. This moment of a "worldly" estrangement is especially pronounced as the consciousness sets itself into action. One of the most recurring motives in Hegel's The Phenomenology of Spirit is the inability of the consciousness to realize its intentions as planned. The consciousness fails to recognize itself in the deed, and thus devises strategies to distance itself from the deed. In my interpretation, this testifies that the deed is the door to the world, and obviously this world is not one that would be in the power of the consciousness. Instead, it is the consciousness that needs to subordinate itself to the deed...

This thesis discusses the relation between theology and natural science in the works of Wolfhart Pannenberg. Pannenberg addresses the factors that led to a dispute between theology and natural science. Furthermore, Pannenberg's biography and most important works are outlined. The chapter "anthropology" deals with the human as a central theme in theology and natural science. The last chapter, "Dialogue between theology and natural science", covers the relation of theology and physics. The typology of characters in Isabel Allende's fictional work of The house of the Spirit

This thesis analyzes not only the book itself but also the development and transformation of main characters of the novel The House of the Spirits written by Chilean author Isabel Allende. The work deals with an introduction period of the Spanish-American fiction of the twentieth century, with emphasis on magic realism and related spirituality and historical events of the 20th century Chile. The text also focuses on the general theory of characters and plot outlines and structure of the novel. Furthermore, these findings are applied to the fictional character of this work. The conclusion summarizes the results of the investigation carried out and refuted the thesis of literature Isabell Allende. It is concluded that House of the Spirits clearly belongs to the literature of Latin American post - boom and it means much more than just a simple entertaining reading.

Education to Spirituality

The aim of this work is to create a pedagogical concept of the education for spirituality. I try to map the various views of human spirituality. The spirituality is one of the important philosophy topics, so I dedicated this view most. Next is the psychology, within witch I strive to grab this term in a scientific way. I also notice the changes in the perception of the term spirituality, namely in the relation to the religion, as well as to the usage of this term, which is equivalent to the previously frequently used term inwardness. Marginally I also mention some theories related to the spirituality in the field of biology, quantum physics and brain research. After the initiation of some way outs, from which can be created the conceptual apparatus, I come to my own definition of the spirituality, I concretize the education to the spirituality including the initiation of goals, methods and means of this education. The part of this work is also a small study, in which I try to find out, what is the degree of the respondents spirituality, what forms and methods do the respondents evolve their spirituality and I am looking for the contexts between the respondents characteristics by practicing the various technics and the spirituality rate. Kierkegaard's philosophy of existence

This work takes as its central issue the existential movement as it appears in the philosophy of Soren Kierkegaard. There appears to be relatively little secondary literature on this topic, so it is a very fruitful area to explore. The texts explored include Kierkegaard's 'psychological' books, in particular Concept of Anxiety and Sickness unto Death. These provide our work with the crucial concepts of innocence, guilt, despair, anxiety, existence and spirit. From the more traditional philosophical works, Philosophical Fragments, Concluding Unscientific Postscript to Philosophical Fragments and Johannes Climacus have been utilised. These texts inform the work mostly on the meaning of movement, doubt, contradiction and absolute paradox. From the more lyrical works, this work is informed by Fear and Trembling and Repetition. Inquiry into these texts combined will provide a picture of existential movement as it is presented by Kierkegaard. This work attempts to capture the 'becoming subjective' which is so central to Kierkegaard's thought, through the reconstruction of the existential stages.
